I just laid helplessly, as my mother who never liked John, scolded him for letting me get hurt.

“Mum. It wasn't his fault,” I tried to call her to order.

“But it happened under his watch. I can't be wrong about that,” she said.

“Just calm down mum,” I pleaded.

She eventually left John alone and took a seat on the edge of the bed.
