C8 I'm Sorry It's My Fault

Upon entering the house, Yunwan gently squeezed her little one's hand and said, "Xin, this is Mr. Steward. He's prepared lots of delicious treats just for you!"

While the couple was out, Mr. Steward had been busy in the kitchen, and now the table was nearly overflowing with a variety of tasty snacks.

With a warm smile, Mr. Steward looked at Little Ruixin and said, "Welcome home, Miss Xin. I wasn't sure what you'd like, so I made a little bit of everything with what we had."

"Thank you for your hard work," Yunwan replied.

"It's my pleasure."

Yunwan sat down at the table with Little Ruixin in her arms and asked, "Which one would you like to try first, Xin?"

So many choices!

Little Ruixin's eyes widened at the sight of all the treats. They all looked so delicious, but she worried about wasting them if she couldn't finish.

She looked up at Mr. Steward with wide eyes, and his heart melted like cotton candy, his smile growing even wider. "Don't worry, Miss Xin, nothing will go to waste."

After washing her hands, the little one picked up a cherry blossom-shaped treat and held it up to Yunwan's mouth.

She watched intently, her mouth slightly open, as if encouraging Yunwan to take a bite.

How adorable!

Yunwan, charmed by the little snowball in her arms, took a playful bite of the dainty treat made especially for children, gently nibbling on her little one's fingertips in the process.

Little Ruixin paused, her gaze shifting upward. When she saw the gentle, warm smile in Lau Yunwan's eyes, she shyly nestled into her embrace.

Chi Pinghai, sitting nearby, felt a pang of emotion. After washing his hands, he picked up a dessert and offered it to his daughter. "Xin, open wide."

Seeing his eager expression, Little Ruixin opened her mouth slightly and took a small bite. The sweetness spread through her mouth, reaching every part of her body, making her smile softly, a smile that could melt hearts.

Chi Pinghai beamed with joy at his success. Chi Yu, feeling a bit overwhelmed, ruffled his sister's hair before heading upstairs to work.

After tasting the dessert, Lau Yunwan left her husband behind and took her daughter to a room that had been prepared just for her. The moment the door opened, Little Ruixin's eyes welled up with tears.

She felt as if she had stepped into a fairy tale world, so enchanting yet fragile, as if it might vanish into bubbles at any moment. She feared she would return to a home filled with harsh words and despair.

Sensing something was off, Lau Yunwan quickly picked her up and sat her on the bed, gently caressing her face. "Xin, are you feeling unwell? Tell Mommy, okay?"

The daughter couldn't speak yet, but her eyes spoke volumes. Right now, though, the little one had her eyes tightly shut, tears streaming down her face, which made Lau Yunwan's heart ache, bringing her to tears as well.

"I'm sorry, it's all my fault. I should have watched over you better," Yunwan whispered, afraid to hold her too tightly for fear of hurting her. She gently cradled her, apologizing over and over. "It's my fault you went through so much pain. I'm so sorry, sweetheart. Don't be afraid. This is all real. I'm real, your dad is real, everything is real. We both love you so much..."

"Sweetheart, can you open your eyes and look at Mommy?"

The broken sobs prompted Little Ruixin to open her eyes and see Lau Yunwan's tear-streaked face. She felt the remorse, guilt, and endless love emanating from her mother.

The little girl, yearning for warmth but afraid to open her heart, couldn't hold back her silent cries any longer. She clung tightly to Yunwan's neck, her trembling shoulders telling the story of years of fear and hurt.

Yunwan held her daughter, unable to stop her own tears. Before long, they were both enveloped in a pair of strong arms, finding solace in a broad, comforting embrace that promised safety.

Chi Pinghai, despite the pain in his leg, stood up and embraced them, as if shielding them under his protective wings. His eyes, red from staring out the window, flashed with a sharp, intense hatred. He was determined to find the person who had once stolen his child.
