Chapter Nine

We said out goodbyes and got into the car as Nathan said he was going to be spending some night at his parents place.

He gave a sign to his men to follow us beging , making me took my eyes.

Typical Nathan always wanting to be in control of everything. What did you think I would do anyway. Run away with his son?

I rolled down the glass letting Kelvin wave back at his grandparent and his father, before rolling the glass back up, tapping the driver seat o indicate we were ready.

Kelvin lay in my hands deep asleep, I stared down at him smiling and car suddenly came to an halt.

I looked up at the driver in shock, to see a car blocking our way at the front. Hearing an honk coming from behind us, I turned to see another van behind us, making my heart beat fast at the thought of something bad happening.

I quickly pulled Kelvin to my chest, searching my purse for my cellphone, I quickly dialed Nathan's number with shaky hands.

" What's up? " He asked after he second ring.

" Nathan come quickly some car are blocking ou...." I stopped halfway through my sentence as the phone was ripped out of my hands.

I looked up at the driver with wide eyes, to see him smirking at me.

Oh no don't tell me it was what I was thinking. Was he on this to. I thought with fear.

I heard the sound of the back door unlocking and I immediately pleaded, shaking my head at the driver. The door opened from outside.

I pulled Kelvin closer to my chest, my heart beating fast as I prayed silently, hoping it was just a nightmare and I could soon wake up.

" Hand over the boy. " The man standing outside commanded and I shake my head tears rolling down my face.

He growled stepping forward when a voice stopped him.

" Stop! "

" Step aside. " A too familiar female voice said, making me blink furiously wondering if I was hearing things or she was really here.

The door open wider and my heart skip a beat, as I looked at the woman in front of me.

" Mom " I whispered, looking at her cautiously as I still couldn't wrap my head around what was going on.

" Astrid. " She looked at me with tears in her eyes, making me wonder what was seeing with her.

She step into the car, closing the door behind her, I looked her, while she stared at the sleeping boy in my hands.

" Your son in beautiful. " She whispered with tears in her eyes.

" What's going on? " I asked looking at her suspiciously, ignoring her last comment.

She looked at me, wiping her tears, while I looked down at my son. " My child " she called out, making my eyes water again.

" Am so sorry my child. " She said taking my right hands in her. " I couldn't let you live your life like I did. " She cried " I only chased you away because I was trying to protect you, please dear trust me, you are my everything, my last hope. " She said, raising my head up to look at her.

" You have no idea how he was capable of, what he could do to you if I had let you stay with me. " " I couldn't just bring myself to see you suffer like that. " She cried.

" All I could do was watch you from a far to keep you safe. " " That's why I was okay knowing Bryan was with it, even if he was hurting because your heart still belonged to Nathan, but I knew he was still going to protect you and your son. " She said making me her confused.

I had to many questions dancing around my mind right now.

How did she know about Bryan?

What's her connection with him?

And what happen to her husband?

Why was she here?

My mother had remarried a long time ago, while I was still back in highschool and she changed completely ignoring me and acting like I was was some kind of disease or stain from her past.

After i had escaped from Nathan place, I ran to her place, but she pushed me out if her house, at the middle of the night, screaming on how she had warned me against my relationship with Nathan.

" Honey, I don't know when you will be able to see me again, that's why I did this. I wanted to let you know how sorry I was for everything. " The tears still falling from her eyes.

I placed Kelvin behind me, grabbing her hands in mine, shaking my head slightly, as tears fall off my eyes controllably.

" It alright ma, I forgive you for everything. " I whispered wrapping my hands around her. She drew closer tightening her hold around me.

" My child. " She whispered " am sorry but I was forced to do this. " She said cleaning her tears.

" Do what exactly? " I asked looking at her curiously.

" Nathan is trying to keep you away from me, because he know I know the truth about his secret. " She whispered back at looking at the driver, probably to check if he was listening.

My eyes went wide , wondering what exactly she was talking about.

" What secret? " I asked looking at her.

" We need to go somewhere safe to discuss about this. Why don't we drive to the cafe at the front and seat a little, so I can explain everything. " She said looking at the drive again.

I nodded my head before asking the driver to drive, my heart beating fast from worry.

" It's okay am going to explain everything soon. " She said grabbing my hands in hers.

The car came to stop in front of a small cafe. I look back to see Kelvin still asleep, making me to him slightly to wake him up.

He turn around on the tiny car seat, not waking up.

He must be tired.

" Just leave him here honey, we will be back soon anyway. " My mother suggested looking at the boy.

I looked at her then the driver, contemplating if I should really trust him and leave Kelvin here.

" Common dear nothing is going to happen to him, you know that Nathan would kill them if anything happened. " She said smiling.

I took a deep breathe sighing, then nodding my head in agreement. I quickly adjusted Kelvin on the seat, kissing his forehead, then alighted the car with my mom.

We entered the cafe, taking out seat. She immediately grabbed my hands, drawing me closer.

" Am still trying to gather some information as to why, but all I know for now is the fact that Nathan can't reproduce another child." She said making me gasp, looking at her, my eyes wide.

" So he is trying to take Kelvin away and train him hard into killing weapon for the future, so as to give him everything. " I quickly shake my head.

No it can't be I know Nathan was into creation of weaponry machines, but he wasn't doing anything illegal and he all said he wanted the best for his children, so I was finding this hard to believe.

I was about to comment on what she just said, when the waiter approached our table, holding drink. He served mine and I thank him, looking down at my drink.

I heard I slashing sound making me raise my head up, to see my mom drink all over her.

" What the hell. " She yell, standing up and immediately making her way towards the back of the cafe.

The waiter looked at me, apologizing, making me smile at him telling him it was alright.

I took my drink sipping on it, while waiting for my mom to come back from the restroom.

" Mam. " Another waiter called, handing me a note.

" A guy from outside asked me to give you. " He said before walking away.

I took the note, unfolding it.

" THANKS FOR WILLING RELEASING YOUR SON. "
