C1 The Sickness

The battle was at its peak. The I-Corps versus the revolution army for the autocratic regime, the Unds. Bullets were blazing up and down, left and right. Cries of different emotions but mostly of pain filled the air. Irregular explosions amplified the existing sounds of gun shots and yells to create deafening sounds. The bosses of the Unds forces wanted to be in autocratic control of the five living galaxies in the universe. The Unds wanted to achieve that by overthrowing the current democratic government, the IGG (Inter Galaxy Government).

It was the final battle. It was happening on planet Vhradoz where the Unds had their core base. The I-corps brought the battle to the planet. The I-corps had successfully taken down every other camp of the Unds' forces which were located at different points on the Dhregda Galaxy. The Dhregda galaxy was where the Unds concentrated all of their fighting force. The I-corps taking out the other Unds' camp was a tactical advantage; the Unds greatly outnumbered the I-corps and were also well armed but now it was evened.

The I-corps came in five war ships. The I-corps ships opened fire on the Unds base. I-corps foot soldiers were deployed from the ships. So soon, a battle began. Missiles and bullets from both camps were flying at each other. Explosions blasted on various surfaces across the base almost every mili-second. Arms, blood, limbs, heads flew in random directions. All these happened close to innocent citizens residing in the city named Ohz. The Unds camped ten kilometers away from the city. The I-corps were winning because they knew how to battle in little spaces which the Unds camp had. The Unds went into Ohz in a bid to expand the battle ground so as to favor them.

BAM! BAM! TUM! Three I-Corps warships were shot and they fell onto Ohz, crushing people and buildings beneath it. The Unds were now on course to win the battle. The I-corps came with almost everything they got and that included their five warships and ninety-eight percent of their foot soldiers. Three warships were down and to bring down the other two wouldn't be a problem. The I-corps thought they had made their warships to be attack resistant but today it was flawed because the Unds had a secret weapon. A weapon that could shoot down any ship. BUM! BUM! The last two I-corps' warships came crashing down outside the city.

On ground I-corps foot soldiers saw what happened. They were shaken and afraid. None of their colleagues who were on the shot down warships had survived the crash. They had no courage to continue fighting. They fled for their dear lives. The Unds forces followed them in pursuit to slay them all.

Outside the city where the two warships crashed, a chunk of one of the ships went flying out from the rest of the body leaving a hole on the ship. Black_Riot76 emerged from the ship. Black_Riot76 was a tall, muscular black guy in his mid thirties. He wore a Blue knight armor which had a touch of futuristic designs on it. The armor had a helment. He had a sword tucked into a scabbard which was hung on his back. He was part of the I-corps. He saw his colleagues fleeing into the city to escape death. Some fled into the hands of the enemies who killed them on sight.

"It isn't their fault" – thought Black_Riot76 of his weak minded colleagues .

Black_Riot76's sword weighed like an axe and it took the designs of the Vikings sword. The sword was popularly known as Riot Blade. Black_Riot76 had superhuman athletic abilities. He leaped into the air like Superman, travelling hundred of meters into the city towards the enemies pursuing his men. He descended on the enemies slaying a hundred of them in seconds. The enemies opened fire on him but he used a sword skill called tornado (he swung his sword so quickly to form a small standing tornado) to block their bullets. He smashed the blade of his sword into the ground which released a blue energy blast which sent the enemy forces flying through the air and then crashing to their deaths.

"Black_Riot, sir!" – yelled an I-corps foot soldier.

Black_Riot76 turned his attention to the soldier. The soldier told him that the enemies were about to escape the planet so as to keep the enemy force alive.

"It is time." – said Black-Riot76 to the other soldiers in a sad tone.

Tears were in the eyes of close by I-corps soldiers as they heard Black_Riot76's words. Today was going to be their last day. Some I-corps tried to get as far away from Black_Riot76 before who could do what he intended to do.

"BURN ME IN GLORY!" –yelled Black_Riot76. Simultaneously, his body burned in blue fire which emanated from him.

Black_Riot76 powerfully stabbed his sword into the ground and it caused the whole city of Ohz including him, his colleagues and everything in thirteen kilometer radius of the city's boundaries and the Unds camp to be blown to shambles (Black_Riot76 used his sword to cause an explosion the size of a nuclear bomb explosion). The Unds forces were totally annihilated thanks to Black_Riot76 but it came with a great price.

One week after the war, the government responsible for the city of Ohz sent emergency management crew to seek for survivors. The mission was also funded by the IGG. The IGG was the democratic government ruling over the five living galaxies (The five living galaxies were the only places in the entire universe which could support life). It was the government responsible for every operation the I-Corps executed. The first day at the shambled city of Ohz, no living soul was found by the emergency management crew. The crew only found grosses of corpses. The second day, a dozen living people was found and also they found more corpses. The third, fourth and fifth day were the same as the first day. A camp was formed at a corner of the city by the rescue crew. The camp was also used to house the rescued dozen. Unfortunately, most members of the rescue crew and everyone who was rescued were manifesting illnesses on the fifth day. The illnesses manifested by the sick persons were the same in every one of them. It was characterized by chronic cough, dizziness and shortness of breath. On the same day, tests were done on the sick by those who weren't infected. The results came out but it was hidden from the sick under orders from Hon.Swanwick. Before the day could end, Hon.Swanwick travelled to the Capital city to meet the authorities responsible for Ohz to show them the results.

Hon.Swanwick was a retired military general who was also an intelligence agent during his time of service. He served his native country Tohhzmbe as a general and also an intelligence agent. He was now incharge of the Emergency management agency of Ohz city. Tohhzmbe was made up of cities only. Each city's government houses were located somewhere in the capital city. It was done that way so that each government could communicate directly with the Supreme government of Tohhzmbe.

The next day, Hon.Swanwick met with the ministers incharge of the Ohz government. He revealed that the sicknesses in the camp was caused as a result of exposure to Riot Blade (The name of the sword Black_Riot76 wielded) radiation. The illness was called the Riot disease. The radiation was caused by the explosion Black_Riot76 set off with his blade. Hon.Swanwick added that the cure to the disease was cannibalism. The cure didn't stop at cannibalism; the human being that would be eaten must possess the Riot Gene in other for the illness to be cured. The Riot Gene was rare and nobody except Black_Riot76 knew what the gene was like. Failure for the infected to find the ideal human being before nine days will make the infected persons to become zombies. It doesn't matter if the infected was dead; once nine days was gone a zombie would be born.

Hon.Swanwick brought up legends about the disease which stated that as long as a human being was alive when the human being was touched by the Riot Blade radiation, if the human being dies a day later, its corpse will awake as a zombie eight days later.

Hon.Swanwick was determined to convince the Ohz government to act before they had a zombie pandemic on their hands. When he meant act, he means that the government should use brutal methods to handle the situation. The government officials didn't like the idea. So, they argued it with him. The officials suggested better ways to handle it but Hon.Swanwick didn't buy it. While the discussion was still on, a report was received. The report stated that emergency management crew had rescued one hundred and twenty nine survivors from the rubbles. These newly rescued people all manifested the Riot disease.

"If a hundred and twenty persons were found, how many dead persons do you think were alive when the radiation was live?" - asked Hon.Swanwick.

The Ohz government ministers were convinced they had act. The supreme government of Tohhzmbe was contacted. The report of what was happening at Ohz was relayed to the supreme government. The Supreme government gave the Ohz government license to go ahead with whatever plan they had to curb the situation.
