C49 You Bastard Who Are You Scolding?

I hadn't intended to come in; not coming in, not buying was fine by me.

However, the disdainful attitude of the salesperson ignited a fire in Xiong Miao's heart.

She was determined to try on the clothes here today, regardless of how they looked.

Being belittled for no reason had spoiled her entire day.

Her friend was mocked as well, and Xiong Miao was not about to take it lying down.

The salesperson remained obstinate, convinced that they couldn't afford anything. She feared that their presence would taint the store with an air of poverty, which could spell disaster for future business.

It's worth noting that their wages were tied to their sales performance.

And to top it off, this particular salesperson was quite superstitious.

"Take that one down, do you hear me?" Su Mumu demanded, visibly upset.

"Well, who do we have here? Such a temper," came a mocking voice.

"Mrs. Su, welcome! Please, have a seat over here."

The salesperson's voice, now dripping with enthusiasm, was a stark contrast to the cold treatment they had just received.

Xiong Miao turned to see who had arrived, locking eyes with the woman.

"Xiong Miao, it's you!" Xiong Jingxi exclaimed, her face contorting with malice.

Xiong Miao grimaced. What rotten luck to run into this harpy again.

"With your shabby look, you want to shop here? That's laughable. This is a luxury brand store, not a place for just anyone to shop," Xiong Jingxi taunted with a cold laugh.

Su Mumu was about to respond, but Xiong Miao stopped her, snorting dismissively, "Only a dog judges by appearance. Don't think you're a phoenix just because you married Su Hongyi. Remember, those are the cast-offs I didn't want!"

"You..." Xiong Jingxi was so infuriated she could barely contain herself. If it weren't for the need to maintain her composure in public, she would have lunged at Xiong Miao and marred that insolent face.

"Whore, a little tramp who makes her living by sleeping with a different man each day, how dare you confront me!" Xiong Jingxi pointed at her, teeth bared in rage.

"You're really talking about yourself, aren't you?" In contrast to Xiong Jingxi's snarling, Xiong Miao appeared far more composed.

Over the years, she had forged an ironclad self-discipline amidst the swirl of gossip.

Had she taken to heart those cutting remarks, she would have been infuriated to death a long time ago.

"You!" Jingxi was incensed, her insults so blatant, yet this shameless woman remained unaffected! Her anger grew, fists clenched tightly.

"Don't act so nonchalant in front of me. As for your six little bastards, who knows which men they've been sired by. If I were you, I'd crawl into a hole and hide... Ah!"

Jingxi's tirade was cut short as she saw a blur before her eyes. The next second, her hair was yanked, eliciting a sharp scream of pain.

"Who are you calling a bastard? Don't forget, if your mother hadn't become Xiong Peisheng's mistress and had you, my mother would never have been forced to divorce him! Seems you're quite comfortable with your bastard status!"

Xiong Miao was livid, her chest heaving with rage. She was not one to back down when her limits were tested.

"Let go of me!" Jingxi twisted, attempting to retaliate by grabbing Miao's hair.

But Miao's elbow was firmly against her back, holding her down, making it impossible for Jingxi to reach.

The waitstaff, witnessing the altercation, were too frightened to intervene, recognizing Miao's capability.

Moreover, it was clear she had a connection with Jingxi, suggesting from their exchange that they were sisters of sorts.

She was someone with connections.

Su Mumu certainly wasn't going to help. Watching Miao gain the upper hand, she was inwardly cheering.

Jingxi had it coming!

"Xiong Miao, you might be accustomed to scraping by at the bottom, relying on nothing but your strength. But a woman's worth isn't measured by strength; it's the money in her purse, understand? I'd wager your pocket is as empty as your morals!" Jingxi taunted, attempting to provoke her further.
