C50 If You Anger Her

"Who said I'm broke? I'm far wealthier than you!" Xiong Miao watched as Xiong Jingxi's confidence waned, released her hair, and dusted off her hands with a clap.

Xiong Jingxi's hair, which had been impeccably styled, was now in disarray. She had been humiliated by that little wretch, Xiong Miao, and she couldn't stomach the insult. However, Xiong Miao had brought someone along, and with two against one, Jingxi knew she couldn't win a physical confrontation.

Since Xiong Miao seemed intent on putting on airs, Jingxi decided she would happily watch her go broke. "If you're so rich, that's even better. Waiter, which item did she take a fancy to? Bring it down for her," Jingxi commanded.

The waiter, who had previously been haughty and dismissive, now obediently fetched the garment and approached Xiong Miao and Su Mumu. "Sorry, I've changed my mind. I'm no longer interested in trying it on," Xiong Miao stated icily.

She hadn't forgotten how the waiter had snubbed them earlier. His current compliance wasn't for her benefit but for that of another despicable woman. Why should she play along?

"Oh, did the price tag scare you?" Xiong Jingxi scoffed, her face, dolled up in luxury, dripping with scorn.

"Scared? It's just a piece of clothing. You think I can't afford it?" Xiong Miao retorted. She had been underestimated and bullied by Jingxi in the past. After being outmaneuvered by her, she had lost everything and had to flee the country in disgrace. She couldn't afford to lose to her again—she wouldn't give Jingxi the satisfaction.

"Then go ahead and buy it. What's the point of empty talk?" Jingxi sneered with contempt.

"Waiter, tell her how much this suit costs."

"After the discount, it's 128,000."

Damn it, 128,000—that's their family's yearly living expenses! Had they unwittingly walked into a luxury store?

Xiong Miao clenched her jaw internally, feeling the urge to back down.

"What's the matter? Is 128,000 enough to frighten you? This is Minar's luxury store, where clothes priced over 100,000 yuan are considered a bargain. I knew you were broke. If you can't afford it, then I'll take it. Waiter, wrap this up for me," Xiong Jingxi gloated, her spirits lifted by her triumph.

"Xiong Miao, face it. If you like something but lack the means, you can only watch as I take it. It's always been this way, and now even more so. Remember how you were head over heels for Su Hongyi? Well, with just a flick of my finger, he ended up in my arms, becoming my husband," Xiong Jingxi boasted, twirling her hair with the air of a victor.

The mention of the past was like ripping open an old wound for Xiong Miao.

She felt a heaviness in her chest, and her temper flared.

"That loser Su Hongyi, consider him a gift from me! And this dress, I spotted it first, so why should I let you have it? Waiter, I'll take it, wrap it up for me!"

She was the only one who truly knew the depth of her past defeats.

Why should she let Xiong Jingxi take what was hers once more, allowing that malicious woman to gloat and stomp on her dignity?

"This..." The waiter was momentarily at a loss for words.

"Fine, you buy it then—if you have the money," Xiong Jingxi said dismissively. She hadn't really wanted the dress; her aim was merely to provoke Xiong Miao into spending her last dime on it.

Su Mumu tugged at Xiong Miao's hand, a look of guilt on her face.

Xiong Miao had only ten thousand yuan left on her card. Even with the additional twenty thousand from Su Mumu, they only had thirty thousand in total.

How could they ever afford the price tag of 128,000?
