C2 Accident

When Xinling spoke, her heart was heavy. If her family hadn't hit rock bottom, she would never have approached Loong Zijun like this.

Zijun furrowed his brow, swirling the drink in his hand. "Xinling, this isn't like you."

His eyes were cold, and his voice carried an edge of impatience that made her heart ache. She realized she never truly understood him; she had misjudged his character.

"I never thought you'd say something like that. We've been together for three years, and you still don't know me? My grandpa's in the hospital, and his condition is serious. For him, I'd change anything about myself. Besides, didn't you rush to break off our engagement because my family's company went under?"

Xinling felt her pride being torn apart, but for her grandpa's sake, she had no choice.

A flash of coldness crossed Zijun's face as he stared at his glass. "I thought you understood."

Xinling stayed silent, watching him quietly.

"I thought you understood that I don't love you, so there's no need to keep clinging to me."

The last three words pierced Xinling's heart. Clinging? Was that really her?

After three years together, even if it wasn't true love, there should have been some feelings between them, right? Why did every word he said feel so heartless?

Her smile, which she had barely managed to maintain, finally faded away. Her eyes grew colder, and her heart followed suit.

At that moment, Chuchu walked over. "Zijun, you can't drink, remember? Didn't we agree with Dad that we're planning for a baby this year?"

Her voice was soft and sweet, a mix of persuasion and playful teasing.

Loong Zijun pressed his lips together, giving Chuchu a gentle smile, his gaze tender and indulgent as he set the glass down. "Right, I would've forgotten if you hadn't reminded me."

Then he turned to Ji Xinling, his expression instantly shifting to one of unfamiliarity and coldness. "Sorry, Miss Ji, I can't drink this."

Ji Xinling's heart grew even colder. If this man, who had been with her for three years, could be so heartless and indifferent, who else could help the Ji family? It seemed that no one dared to oppose the Lin family.

Human relationships are truly as fragile as paper.

Ji Xinling didn't feel embarrassed by this. She raised her glass and drank it all in one go, ignoring the people around her who either pitied her or took pleasure in her misfortune.

Just as she finished and hadn't yet set the glass down, there was a sudden commotion at the entrance.

Then, she saw two rows of bodyguards in black suits clearing the way, followed by a tall, imposing man with a regal presence entering the room.

Ji Xinling glanced at this man and found herself inexplicably drawn to him.

In this world, there are people with such remarkable grace and appearance! His complexion is as fair as porcelain, with eyebrows like swords and eyes like stars, his features so distinct as if carved by a master sculptor. It's not just his looks that captivate; it's his aura.

It's an aura that commands attention, possessing an irresistible allure. As he walked into the hall, everyone fell silent, their eyes fixed on him. His presence was truly impactful.

Ji Xinling quickly regained her composure. She knew that the more captivating a man was, the more dangerous he could be. She had already met two such men: one was Lin Tianze, the other was Loong Zijun.

Just as Ji Xinling furrowed her brow, planning to leave, someone suddenly gave her a hard shove from behind. Losing her balance, she fell to the ground. The wine glass she hadn't yet set down shattered, the sound slicing through the air and drawing the attention of everyone around.
