C12 Freya's POV: I think I've found my mate!
~Freya~
Walking down the garden path, I delved deep in my thoughts as I breath heavily. It's been a week since the incident with Lucien. I hadn't heard a word from him since then. Not even an apology.
I wondered if he was ok still. Gabriel had been serving him dinner separately. My eyes followed his every move to see if I could find out Lucien's whereabouts, but to no avail.
Why should I bother anyways, the only bond shared between us is hatred. I shouldn't be thinking about him.
"Freya," Jasper called out to me softly.
Turning my gaze towards him, a warm smile played on my lips as he approached me swiftly. Ever since the night of the incident, Jasper and I have been meeting frequently.
It's been just a week, but felt like years anytime we got together. I've been alone for so long, but in his company, I felt at peace.
"How was the meeting?" I asked curious as we embraced shortly.
"Went like other meetings," he replied, rolling his eyes.
"Was Lucien present?" I asked curious.
"No," he responded.
Why did I even ask? I was curious about his whereabouts, and hoped he was ok. I had hoped Jasper would give a positive response, but alas, it was negative.
"You seem disappointed," he stated, rubbing his chin as he narrowed his eyes.
Exhaling sharply, I argued, "Of course not, why would I be?"
"Because it's evident?" He responded, cocking his brow at me.
What did he expect me to do? I haven't heard from my husband. Husband? Funny how I use that word to describe him. No, I shouldn't be thinking about him this way.
"I'm not," I argued.
"Ok, ok," he responded, "So where to now?" He asked.
"I don't know, you tell me."
"Let's take a walk round the mansion, I'm sure they're places you haven't discovered," he said excitedly.
Taking my hand in his, we toured Lucien's mansion. I was thrilled to discover secret rooms and passages which hid in plain sight.
As we continued on our way, we came across a tunnel. Its entrance shrouded in darkness. Weeds and vine snakes around the edges like skeletal fingers. The air reeked of damp earth and decay. Ominous shadows cast by twisted trees stretch towards me. My heart raced with a sense of impending doom.
"Want to explore?" Jasper asked, motioning towards the tunnel.
"What? No!"
"Are you scared?"
"Are you really asking me that?"
Exhaling sharply, he lifted me from the floor as he walked towards the tunnel.
"Stop!" I shrieked, but Jasper remained unbothered.
I could feel my fear swallow me whole as we got closer. Walking into the dark tunnel, an eerie aura engulfed the empty space as my fingers clung tightly to Jasper.
"I'm going to let you down now," he said, breaking the silence.
"What? No. Don't."
"Trust me Freya, you're going to love the ending," he said, smiling warmly.
How could he smile in such a situation.
"No, take me back to the mansion," I demanded.
"Just this once," he pleaded.
Unable to by-pass his persistence, I reluctantly agreed to his wish. Placing me gently on the ground, he took my hands as he led me towards the end of the tunnel.
As we approached, the sight before us was nothing I expected it to be. The grasses green, flowers trailed along the paths, birds filled the air as the serenity of the sun's light doused over the place.
"It's beautiful," I stated with widened eyes. I had never seen a place so enchanting.
"Not every darkness is ugly, in the end, you'd be surprised at what you'd find," Jasper stated.
Exhaling sharply, my thoughts drifted back to Lucien. Who knows, maybe what I find out about him at the end will be beautiful.
"Shall we?" He asked stretching his hands towards me.
Taking his hand, we made our way down the steep slope as we strode forward. Mesmerized by the scenery, I couldn't help but twirl as I enjoyed the warmth of the sun.
"Where is the place? What's it called?" I asked curious.
"It's a hidden valley between Blood moon pack and Nightshade pack. Lucien and I discovered it when we were kids."
"It's beautiful," I said, twirling.
"Not as beautiful as you are," Jasper stated. His words leaving me speechless.
Smiling shyly, I averted my gaze from him, "Thank you," I responded softly.
"Freya," Jasper began as he closed the distance between us.
My heart raced at he took my hands in his. Starring into his eyes, I felt my knees go weak. His hands grabbed my waist as he pulled me close. His hot breaths grazed my face as my heart raced.
"Jasper?" I called out to him.
Taking my hand, he placed it on his chest as he asked, "What do you feel?"
Feeling his heart beat, I responded,"It's beating quite fast."
"It's beating for you."
"Me?"
"Freya, this past week with you has been amazing, please, I don't want it to come to an end," he said looking deep into my eyes.
"I also feel the same way," I responded.
I couldn't deny the fact I had an amazing time with him. It felt good to know, after all the troubles, I have someone I can run to, talk to, with him I found tranquility.
Tightening his grip round my waist, he pulled me closer. I couldn't help but stare at his lips. Soft, pink, inviting as he bit his lower lips slowly. Was he about to do what I think he was? No right?
Images of my kiss with Lucien flooded my memory. Blinking my eyes repeatedly, I shoved him away swiftly.
"I think we should head back to the mansion. It's almost dinner time," I stated, chuckling nervously.
"Of course, after you mi lady," he said gesturing.
Making our way back to the mansion, he bid me goodbye as he departed back to his pack. Walking back into the mansion, waves of heat surged through my veins as I reminisced on our recent encounter. Damn, I wanted him so bad. But I couldn't, I'm married.
Married? It's an arranged marriage. We're living on each other's terms, so I'm not doing anything wrong by desiring to be with another man right?
Getting to my room, I threw myself to the bed as I attempted drifting off to sleep. But it was hopeless , my mind replayed mine and Jasper's encounter and I couldn't help but giggle as i continued thinking about it. Could Jasper be my fated mate?
