C9 Lucien's POV; Picking a gift for my wife

~Lucien~

Making my way to the Library, I swung the door open. Settling into the chair, I took in deep breaths trying to calm the heat within me. I didn't mark her, so why did I feel this way?

"Go back to mate!" My wolf cried.

"No wolfie, she's not out mate, we don't have one, being alone is best," I stated trying to calm my wolf down.

"Sire?" Gabriel called from behind.

Turning towards him, he had different gift boxes in his hands.

"What's this?" I asked with widened eyes.

"The gifts you asked me to prepare for Luna. They're from world renowned designers and some as gifts for a peace treaty to avoid attack, they're worth quite alot," Gabriel stated.

"Drop it," I said motioning my hands towards the table.

He placed the boxes in front of me as he opened them one after the other. Glancing through the jewelry, they were exquisite designs, but none caught my attention.

I had never done this before, picking out a present for anyone much less a woman.

Sigh!

This was harder than negotiating politics. I don't know anything about Freya, yet here I am trying to choose a present for her.

"How about this sire?" Gabriel asked, drawing my attention to a red diamond necklace.

"I don't like it," I responded agitated.

"Well what does Luna like?" He asked exhaling sharply.

"I don't know either, you know I've never done this before," I responded, the unease in my voice evident as I exhaled sharply.

Closing my eyes, I tried to remember the jewelry she had on during our wedding. But it was our wedding, obviously she'd have to wear glittering and heavy jewelry. Or should I just send the entire boxes of jewelry to her?

"I think it's best we send the entire thing to her, this is too hard," I stated, running my hands through my hair as I squinted my eyes open.

Exhaling sharply, Gabriel cleared his throat as he asked, "Isn't that a little absurd sire?"

"Absurd?" I asked with a high pitched voice.

"Well, gifting her all this is absurd. Have you thought about what she'd think or her reaction if you did?" He asked.

What he said made absolute sense. I couldn't just gift her an entire or rather two nation's wealth. I'd just have to go through the painful process of deciding then.

"True, let's continue searching through then," I said palming my face.

After what felt like hours of searching, I finally found something worth the search. A black diamond jewelry set caught my eyes as he began packing up the other boxes.

"That one," I said pointing towards it.

Gabriel picked it out swiftly stretching it towards me.

"It's beautiful sire. Oh look, it's a heart shaped black diamond. I'm sure Luna will be delighted with this token of love," he stated with a big smile.

Rolling my eyes, I chuckled as I asked, "Token of love?"

"Yes sire, why else would you go through so much just for her?"

His words rang in my ears as I tried to find an answer. Why was I doing this? Was it out of love? Pity? Why?

"Sire?" Gabriel called disrupting my thoughts.

"Wrap it and deliver to her," I ordered as I rose from my seat.

"Sire, don't you think you should give it to her instead? You're her husband afterall," Gabriel stated firmly.

"We don't have a husband and wife relationship Gabriel, just deliver it to her, wish her a happy birthday from me, I have things to attend to," I stated departing swiftly.

I decided to go to the garden for some fresh air. Maybe my head would be clear. Arriving at the garden, my eyes met with a warm scene.

Freya twirled as she danced around the garden. Scanning her body, I couldn't help but giggle noticing she was barefoot.

Gabriel approached her from behind. Handing her the gift, my heart raced as I wondered if she would like it or not. Would she send it back? Would she wear it? A cold sweat broke from my face as she opened it.

Seeing the huge smile on her face, a warm feeling surged through my veins. I found myself smiling unconsciously as she wore the jewelry round her neck. It matched her skin, extenuating her beauty. She truly is one of a kind. A masterpiece.

Shaking my head, I blinked repeatedly as I breath deeply.

"Sire," a guard called from behind.

"Yes?"

"You have a guest in the study," he stated.

Nodding my head, I dismissed him with a wave of my hand. Taking a final glance at Freya's happy face, I made my way into the mansion.

Images of Freya's smile clouded my thoughts. Her soft skin, her lips, her eyes, everything. I couldn't help but be mesmerized by her. Was she a witch? Swinging the door open, a familiar voice called out to me, "Lucy."

Turning my gaze in it's direction, a smile played on my lips seeing who it was. It was Jasper, my best friend.

"Jasper," I responded making my way towards him.

We embraced shortly as we settled in our seats.

"You're married aye?" Jasper asked enthusiastically.

"Yes, I guess," I responded, uncertain if what I shared with Freya was a marital bond.

"And I wasn't invited to your wedding?" Jasper asked with an arched brow.

I didn't invite him because I didn't consider it as a wedding. I saw it more like an alliance between two packs.

"I'm sorry," I apologized swiftly.

"Aye, it's fine Lucy," Jasper said patting my laps.

"Don't call me Lucy, sounds like a girl's name," I stated pouting.

A hard laugh escaped his lips as we continued our conversation. We stayed in the study talking all day. We spoke about alot of things and had good laughs.

After a long time, Jasper left as he needed to attend to some urgent meetings in his pack. I made my way back into my room, humming a song on my way.

Approaching my door, I turned towards Freya's room. I found myself walking towards her door. No, I shouldn't be doing this. Exhaling sharply, I turned towards my room.

Surprised to find my door open, my claws emerged as I made my way in.

Crash!

The flower pot from the table side was thrown towards me. Luckily I averted the hit. Surprised at the sudden attack, I clenched my fists as I turned towards the intruder. It was my uncle, Raphael.

"You little piece of s*it!" he yelled as he pounced on me.

"Argh!" I yelled loudly in pain.

"I'll show you hell today!" He growled.
