C29 Choosen

THE PAST

“Everything has its on way Seven… or should I call you Knight,” a mischievous smile crosses on Helios lips.

From the time that he blurted out those words Seven lost in her thoughts and seems to reminisce about the past, she doesn’t even clearly remember and she only sees blur versions of people which make her head hurts. Seven started to rub her temples and Helios immediately run towards her.

“Hey are you feeling okay?” Helios asked as he come and face her. She was pale and started to sweat.

“Hey, you’re pale, drink some water and I’ll get you to the hospital,” he said, and he was about to stand up when Seven suddenly grips his arm and pulls him over.

“Idiot I’m an angel, remember?” she said and calmed down and her color change slowly.

“Oh, right right I am just over dramatic guy,” he answered looking shy and get back to his seat.

“Uhm what did you say earlier? Knight?” Seven asked him, looking through his eyes, searching for something.

“Knight? Who said about Knight?” he asked looking confused and Seven can’t help not to look at him more doubting to believe on his words. Is she even imagining things again, or she did clearly heard it coming from his mouth? She doesn’t know, but base from his expressions he seems to be telling the truth. Seven come for an idea. She can tell if he is telling the truth by seeing the color of his eyes from her vision. She slowly closes her eyes and the time stops and all the people inside the room halt from where they were standing and Helios was just there staring at her oddly.

But she must know the truth. Only by looking at an object from many perspectives do you see its exact shape and dimensions, and truth is the same; which is why only a multidisciplinary approach by the high level generalists will find it?

‘The lies that I fear most are the ones close enough to the truth to pass under the radar, or else the ones that are so big you’d never dream a person could make something like that up. The half truths lead you away from a trust into a closet xenophobia. The big ones are shock and awe, they just root you in fear so your primal brains start doing the thinking,’ she thought while looking at him, it was supposed to be a second before he can tell a person if he is telling the truth but this person in front of her is hard to see and why is that.

‘Does the truth imprison us, or does it set us free? One thing we know for sure, the truth can hurt. But why do I have this feeling that I must seek for the truth, why does it affect me so much as soon as I heard that name? Knight? Why does it close to my heart? Why does it call me for my soul? Do I have a soul?’ she thought, and she was starting to feel the sweat on her forehead. This was the first time and Helios eyes were piercing as it looks at her. Hopefully, she will see the truth in his eyes and words. Some hear and turn their lives around. Facing the truth about our negative sides is a difficult thing to do.

However, none of us can improve without knowing the truth, even when it hurts. If we learn, the truth really sets us free.

Truth can be a strange notion, for it always relies on perspective.

For truth drill down into your soul, find that lake of pure water that will wash you clean should you truly desire it. Learn who you really are, who you were born to be, and you will be set free. You were born to love, your soul is pure.

“Why is it that hard,” she almost breathlessly said, and her vision was almost blurred until she blinks her eyes and everything got to normal and people moved.

Helios was there at the same position looking through her but then again look shocked at Seven’s face.

“Hey, why the damn are always losing blood? You look pale? Are you hungry?” he looks at her worriedly and stands up and wave his hand.

“Waiter? Can we get our orders now? My friend here can’t wait, she needs to eat now,” he shouted and all the people inside the room look at him and without a second they continue chatting with each other. The waiter immediately rushes towards them and asks for an apology.

As soon as their orders arrived Seven can’t stop looking at him, it seems to her that she must be afraid of this human, he is not just a human but something, she can feel a kinship towards him but that was impossible.

“What are you thinking? You seem to be in deep thoughts Seven?” he asked not looking her direction, he was way too focused on his food and he must be hungry to shove pasta into his mouth without even munching it.

“I was just thinking about the word truth,” she answered while looking at him. She doesn’t feel the food anymore.

“Truth is treason in an empire of lies,” a deep voice said, and Seven can’t help but to look horrified, she roams her eyes into the room and everyone stops at what they are doing and slowly she return her gaze to the person in front of her. Helios was gone and the person in front of her is no other than the master number one of the angels of death.

“Seven, in your age the truths are a fiction, and so I have buried the truth in the fiction. Very neat, I think you’ll find. Happy hunting.”

“Such a beautiful scene I am looking at,” a woman’s voice seems to echo the entire ocean they are at and Lissana can’t help herself not to look at her, she seems to dream because she is seeing a woman up in the air and she must admit it was beautiful face it was like an angel, a goddess.

Her lips curled and put on a fake smile.

“Melecient,” Hades muttered under his breath while looking at the woman and held the hand of Lissana even tighter as if telling her that it will be okay.

The sky is consumed in numerous shades of grey and white and black. It looks like the sun has given up on trying to break through this iron curtain of clouds, it has become content to lounge out behind them.

“Hades what’s going on,” the tone of her voice came worried and the beat of her heart quickened.

Hades doesn’t seem to have heard her, but he tightened the grip on her hand.

“You know your task Hades but it seems to me that you are not doing it so that is why I came here to finish your job but even so, I have come here to finish her,” she strongly stated and Lissana took a step back.

“A deity like you won’t do that Melecient, you won’t get your hands dirty,” he sternly said and looking through her eyes, his demeanour eyes were like a hawk ready to kill a prey.

“Who said I am the one to finish her? I won’t even lay a finger, she is not worth it. You’ll see,” she answered, and Hades gritted his teeth.

“Don’t you dare Melecient you’re not the one who will decide the fate you are not the God. And if this come to the higher position you know where you’ll go,” he challenged while looking at her and Melecient can’t help not to rage in anger.

“I have kept this rage of mine for how many years, I’ve been like this for how many years Hades and I guess it’s not that bad if I get my part too even if the payment is my position I will gladly take it and I am telling the both of you that you’re going to pay,” she clasps her hand and smiled wickedly to him and her eyes slowly turn to her giving her a dark smile which makes Lissana fear.

“Well then, I’m willing to give you a change,” his voice was deep and his aura come to transform.

***

“I got to go,” Helios said and get his coat near his table, leaving Seven behind.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you. If you’ll go then your faith will change, the time you’ll be there Melecient will come to see you and then he will tell Hades who you truly are, that you are his step-brother the one who killed him and what will you do Helios if that happens? Stay here and believe me, Melecient will not lay a finger on them. Maybe not now. She’s a deity, but I bet she would sacrifice that position just to get what she wants in fact she has no reason to be a deity anymore after on what she had knew,” she said in a meaningful tone of voice which makes him halt from where he was standing.

“You know all of this?” he turns around and slowly walks into her direction and now they are face to face and Seven must admit his demeanour change.

“Well, maybe, don’t give me that kind of look it makes me cringe, I might think you like me or what,” Seven said and look at him with disgust covering her fear. Why would she fear a human?

“I smell fear, are you somehow afraid of me?” he asked in a deep voice and Seven looks at him in surprise. And she’s an idiot that she almost forgot that he can read her thoughts.

“Don’t cross the line Helios, maybe you’re forgetting I’m an angel of death and I can take you away from here.”

“Well, you know what I was just joking don’t you find it funny, huh? Now lets go and grab a bite and besides I’m starving,” he said and he immediately put his arm around her shoulder and she shrugged it off.

“We are not friends and I am here to sign a contract for you that you just dismiss I should even give you a punishment but a bite sounds better, your call right?” she asked, and Helios can’t help but to roll his eyes.

“It’s not like angels like you have a cash, it’s my treat and besides there is no such a thing as a free lunch dear. You’ll give answers to my questions, huh, and there is no turning back,” he said and grips her arm and goes away.

***

“So what do you want to order, huh?” he asked as he looks the menu and Seven there was just looking at him ridiculously.

“You are serious huh offering food for me,” she said and started looking at her menu.

“May I take your orders Sir and Miss?” a waiter approached and smiled on them but not necessarily on him but on Seven.

“Ahem I’ll have this,” he answered, showing him his glare as he pointed the menu. The waiter gulp in fear and started to sweat.

“And I’ll have this,” she showed the menu to the waiter and the waiter didn’t bother now to look at her.

“And drinks Miss? Do you want this Brown-Forman Jack Daniels?” he offered and Helios can’t help not to glare at him again.

“We are here to eat, not to go on a drink,” he muttered under his breath and the waiter again looks at him with such fear in his eyes.

“Oh soda do you have here a soda? I’ve been dying to taste those one,” she chirped and clap her hands like a kid. And Helios look at her questioningly like the hell? And even the waiter look at her like she was crazy.

“Well, you heard her get her a soda now,” he stated and the waiter immediately obliged.

“Really soda?” he asked looking at her and her face was just so innocent.

“What’s wrong with the… okay I am not allowed to curse I have to keep my reputation,” she snarled and Helios smiled at him wryly.

“Spill your question already before I turn into my senior year,” she sarcastically stated while looking through his eyes.

“Do you know why I contacted you to be the one who’ll manage my supposed to contract for soul?” he stated and look through her eyes and Seven can’t help not to be curious. There was something hidden behind those eyes.

“So you’re the one who chooses me? How is that possible?” she snorted and look at him in disbelief.
