C4 Four

I was on a boat in the next minute. I felt the cold water touching my limp arms and the slow movement of my arm.

My eyes were barely open as I stared up into the night sky.

I've failed.

Suddenly, I was hearing screams coming from behind me. The screams was not helping and I tried to shut it out but I couldn't prevent it from coming.

Soon after, I heard the calling. I heard the wolves crying in the night, behind the trees that surrounded the waters. I heard them call for my help. I heard them howl and the slowly running water didn't stop the voices them from reaching me. I've failed them.

I felt the sharp pain in my chest, struggled to overcome it but couldn't. Then I saw the darkness envelope me and I just. . . . . . . gave in.

. . . . . . Flashback . . . . . .

Shane stood next to the gigantic tree where he always liked to practice his archery. At sixteen, he'd just shifted into his wolf form a couple of weeks back and discovered that his best friend, Roy was his beta. He couldn't have been happier.

Shane takes a stance and tried to shoot an arrow into the tree. He pumps his chest out and holds a firm stance like his teacher taught him and shot the arrow into his desired spot.

The he heard the clapping from behind him and turned to see Roy walking up from behind, a cross bow held tightly under his armpit.

Shane smiled as he saw the smile on Roy's face.

"Bravo, your highness" Jamie teased.

Even though Shane knew he was just teasing him, he still felt the need to correct him anyway " call me Shane when we're alone, Roy "

Shane comes to a stop beside him and they both turned to watch the arrow stuck on the tree.

" You're going to be crowned Alpha soon, Shane," Roy broke the silence " are you ready for that? "

Shane thought about it for a second. Was he ready? He knew he wasn't. He was still too young and his father was still alive. But he wasn't going to show his fears.

Shane took an arrow from his back and set it on the bow, pointing it to the tree before replying " of course I am "

He shoots the arrow before turning back to Roy and adding " I hope you're ready to be pronounced my Beta. Till death do us part " he made an obvious mockery of the last statement, causing Roy to chuckle firmly.

Pointing his cross bow at the tree too and positioning an arrow on it, he replied " of course, Alpha " and shot on the tree too.

" Here, " Shane points his bow at him " try shooting with this "

Roy gives him a hesitant look before taking it from him and placing an arrow on it. He takes a stance and positions himself to the tree. Shane saw the flaws in his positioning and steps in to correct him. He helped spread his arms apart and moved his legs a bit to form a perfect stance before stepping back.

Roy shoots the arrow. It doesn't hit the tree because he had moved his hands a little bit higher, above the tree and when he made the shot, a black bird came crashing down, the arrow in it's chest.

Shane turned an amused look at Roy and they both laughed.

. . . . . End of flash flashback . . . . . .

Laughter filled my ears and I struggled to peel my eyes open. I tried but each time I did, I gazed at the same thing. The night sky.

Everything was fuzzy around me. Darkness loomed beside me, at the corners of my eyes, begging me to go back into a trance.

I felt the pains wash over me repeatedly but that did not bother me anymore. I just wanted this over.

I was a failure. A failed king and I didn't deserve to live. Not even a single breath. I wanted to end it but I couldn't.

I looked at my right side and saw tall tree tops gazing at me, felt next because all I saw was the darkness as it enveloped me and I vulnerably gave in.

Mia's P. O. V.

The pattering sounds against my window shield didn't just bring back memories, it reminded me that I didn't have the right to feel so comfortable yet.

I didn't stop watching my assistant, Ashley through the window shield as she made her way out of the club house, Mr Samuel still got her tied up to one of his shitless conversations right in front of his club house.

I looked away from the window, heaved a heavy sigh before looking back at my IPhone on my hand, staring blankly at the time which displayed large 10:37 p.m right in front of my eyes while the events that happened earlier replayed on my mind.

Being a girl who had to juggle between being a student and a model for the popular Houston fashion Empire, I'd have to deal with a strict boss who never sees the good in you but the bad.

" You're going to Brazil, M " Miss Florentine had told me the instant I stepped inside her office, before the words 'you asked to see me' could roll off my tongue, throwing a couple of porsh magazines across her table to me.

" This weekend " she'd added, causing me to look from the magazines on the table to her.

I've always tried to work with her, tried to ignore the part where she's so downright mean and bossy and walk on the bright side. I love modeling. It's always been a big dream for me but I have other things I'm doing at hand right now and she of all people knew that.

" I. . . . . You know I can't leave, Florentine " I tried to speak straight and fast. I didn't wanna show her any weaknesses. She feeds on them.
