C2 Chapter 2

Madina's POV

My mom came into the room and sat on my bed. She looked at me with tears in her eyes and hugged me so tight.

"You know your dad is a very influential and powerful man in this city," She started.

" What I am about to say may not be what you want at all and is probably not a good news, but I hope you will take this in a good way. I told your father about what Malik said and suggested that the wedding should be cancelled and of course he agreed. But knowing your father, it is paining him deep down and we won't like to see him in the hospital as a result of his Hypertension later on," She paused and looked at me.

" You know Alhaji Hamid right. Your father's best friend. He has a son who recently took over the family business and his mother has been worried about him getting married to the wrong girl." She continued and I looked at her knowing where this is leading us to.

"After I told your dad every thing, he called his best friend and his wife suggested we get you married to their son." she said, sadly looking at me for any reaction but got none.

I really didn't know what to say at that moment because it was so surprising and I was still in shock.

I know the man they are trying to marry me off to and I know his family. They are nice people but I don't usually get along with him.

But I'll still marry him to protect my family from the shame they will face if I refuse, and also to make my dad happy.

He is my favorite person after my mom of course and I know of his health status. So why make the old man stay in a hospital when there is a way to avoid that.

On the other hand, I want to show Malik that I can live without him and move on with my life perfectly.

I will make sure to rub that on his face. Shameless Idiot.

Without thinking more about what she said, I did the needful.

"No problem Hajja, I agree. Let's just hope it's for the best." I said smiling.

"May Allah bless you, my daughter." Hajja smiled and stood up to leave the room, probably to tell my dad what my answer is.

"Amin" I said in my mind.

I will do anything to make my family happy even if it means sacrificing my happiness.

Just this morning, I was happy about my wedding. And now, some hours later I am as sad as I have never been.

If I say what Malik did not hurt me then it is a big fat lie.

I trusted him with my heart and thought I will be happily married to him but surprisingly we are not married and I won't be marrying him and that alone was heartbreaking.

Maybe this is my destiny. I'm going to accept whatever happens in the future, and thank God for it.

I sighed deeply for the nth time as I looked at my sister who has a worried expression on her face.

"Are you sure, Madina?" my sister asked

"Yes, I'm very sure." I answered her as I sat up to carry my niece Aisha.

" I hope you know marriage is not a joke. There are a lot of problems to encounter and if you are not strong you can't overcome them. Most importantly, you have to be in love with your partner to endure all that is going to happen." She said looking at me closely.

That is why I love my sister so much. She makes you think thoroughly before making a decision.

I was so happy when she married the love of her life and is now blessed with a kid.

"Yes, I am very sure. Just pray for me." I said and gave her one of my biggest smile.

"Okay, if you say so. But just know if you ever have any problem, I am always here for you." She said placing a hand on my shoulder.

I kept chatting with Aisha till she fell asleep eventually. I just love the girl. She's so cute.

I love kids and I have always hope I get plenty. Yes, that's how much I love kids.

But I am scared of pregnancy and labor. I could remember when Adda Maimunah (my sister) was in labor.

I was in the labor room with her and before I knew it everything went black. I fainted.

It was funny though.

I laid on the bed thinking about everything and everytime Malik's name cross my mind, I cursed him.

I just hope that Abubakar will be nice to me, because I cannot handle more problems.

I miss my brothers, AbdulMajid and AbdulWahab. I haven't seen them since last week.

Just then, the door opened and the devils came in with a frown on their faces.

"What did Mom said about Malik? That man dared to back out of the wedding?" Abdul Majid voice boomed immediately they close the door.

He has always been the hot headed one. He gets angry easily but he is more quiet than his twin who is a chatter box.

"Answer me, Madina." He shouted.

Thank God the room is sound proofed.
