C4 Chapter 4

Abubakar's POV

I was sitting down in my study room working, when our butler, Jamil knocked to which I answered 'come in'.

Jamil have been working in our house for as long as I can remember. He is in his late forties and a father of four daughters and a son.

For him to disturb me when I told everyone to not do so means it is an important issue.

"Sir, Hajiya sent for you, she's in Alhaji's sitting room." He said referring to my mom.

" Alright." I said as I stood up.

I arranged the files I was working on and looked around for my phone. I found it on the sofa and picked it.

I checked the time and it was almost time for Zuhr. Good thing, I was interrupted.

With that thought, I left the study room not forget to lock it. It was like a home office to me and not everybody is allowed to enter in there.

I went straight to my dad's sitting room only to find my whole family there. The first thing that came to my mind was if there's a problem.

My family is not a polygamous one but is a nuclear family. I live with my parents and four siblings. Aisha, Aryan, Muhammed and Zainab the last born.

I am the oldest making the one responsible of the family business even though Aryan is also helping. But lately, he has been focused on his career. He is in the force.

"Assalam Alaikum." I said as I stepped into the room.

" Wa Alaikas Salam." Mom answered.

" Good afternoon mom and Dad," I greeted them.

" Afternoon," they both answered.

"You sent for me, Mom." I said going straight to the point.

"Oh yes I did. I'm going to request something from you and I will be very happy if you will accept this request okay?."

"Okay Mom."

"You know we are your parents and we will never wish evil for you. The thing is your father's best friend's daughter is to get married today but the groom to be cancelled the wedding at the last minute, and since you are of age and matured enough to start you own family, I thought it will be best if you just get married to her and make it work if possible." She paused and looked at me.

"But.." I started.

"Son, I'm not trying to force you, but if you do this I will be very happy because this is what I wanted you to do for the past five years. I mean you are 29 years old now and you will be 30 in the next three months. It is not early to start a family. Besides this girl Madina is very nice and well trained." My dad cut me off.

"But Dad isn't Madina very young for marriage besides I'm not ready for marriage now. I still have a lot to do." I complained.

I don't want to get married now besides I have a girlfriend whom I love so much.

And that girl Madina is such a pain in the ass, she's too naive and innocent. I will have to guide her a lot which I don't like.

"Abubakar she's 20years old and you'll never know if you are ready or not till you give it a try. Okay?" My mom looked at me with teary eyes.

Ohh, she always does that if she wants me to do something for her. It's like my weak point.

"You know it's so painful to see your daughter rejected that too on her wedding day. So please Baba na (my father) marry her." Mom said with tears rolling down her face.

She calls me her father because I am her father's name sake.

I hate seeing mom crying, it hurts a lot to see her tears. If she wants me to get married then so be it.

"Alright, I agree". I said with a heavy heart.

Mom smiled immediately and mumbled a thank you.

"Call and tell them the good news, my son is getting married and that too to a very gentle and beautiful girl. I can't be happier. Go and wear a good looking kaftan you and your father are going to the mosque in the next 30 mins." She said clapping her hands and smiling beautifully.

Well it's worth it, isn't it?

I stood up and left the room to call my girlfriend. I have to inform her, if possible break up with her. It's not going to be easy but I will try.

I can't keep wasting her time.

Immediately I entered my room, I dialed her phone number but she didn't pick.

Well let me just text her, it's even easier.

'Salam Mariya,

How are you? Hope you are doing well. I know you love me and I also love you too, but I'm sorry. This is the end of our relationship and I'm getting married today.

Please don't call me or text me. I hope you find someone better than me. Once again I'm sorry. And I hope you forgive me.

Bye and thanks for the love you've shown me.

Abubakar.'

Well that wasn't easy.I hope she forgives me.

I went to the bathroom took my shower and wore a white kaftan and a matching cap. I sprayed some perfume and looked at myself in the mirror before I left the room.

2pm.

The Imam just announced me and Madina as husband and wife and it's so surreal to think that I am married.

Well I guess that's it, I'm married. Now I'll have to call my best friend, Usman and tell him the news.

He's not gonna take it well and I know that.

I am in deep trouble with him.

Usman has been my best friend since we were kids and we went to the same school but studied different courses.

I studied business administration while he studied engineering. He is currently outside the country.

I dropped him a message and switched off my phone.

Before I turned it off, I saw a text message from my sister, Aisha congratulating me.
