C5 Chapter 5

Madina's POV

7pm

"Madina, your husband will take you to your home." My mom said and it got me surprised.

After it was announced that the knot have been tied, everyone was surprised because the groom was changed.

"Ohh, I thought dad will do that." I said confused because in our culture, the father of the bride or her family and friends takes her to her new home.

So Abubakar taking me home is something else.

"Well, that's what he said, something about you two getting to know each other first before reaching your home." She said.

Okayyyyy. That's surprising. I thought he will be angry with the whole marriage thing.

"Okay. Where's Adda Maimunah and the twins?" I asked her.

"Ohh her husband wasn't feeling fine, so she went back to her house and the twins are very angry. They said they don't want you to see them that way on your wedding day." She said and I scoff.

As if I haven't seen them like that some hours ago. I can't believe them. I feel like I am sometimes more matured than them.

"Okay then." I said since I can't force them to come see me.

But it would really mean a lot if I get to see them before Abubakar picks me up.

We sat in complete silence and I can see Hajja trying to hold back her tears.

One thing my mom is good at is concealing her emotions. Till this day, I still wonder how she does that.

"Hajja...." I decided to speak up.

Immediately I started talking, she engulfed me in her motherly tight but warm hug.

We cried together hugging ourselves tightly. I'm so going to miss her. I have never been away from home.

"I will miss you so much, my daughter. Please, take care of yourself and your husband. Take his family as yours, don't fight with them.

In marriage, you have to be patient. Don't raise your voice at him even when you are angry. Don't make him angry and remember, there are times you have to ignore somethings so you can live in peace. And if you have any misunderstandings try to sort it out before going to sleep.

If you have any questions about some stuffs, don't hesitate to ask me. I'm still your mother okay?" She said to me looking so vulnerable.

"Okay, thank you so much." I said.

"May Allah bless you and your home."

"Ameen, Hajja na."

We wiped our tears and I washed my face.

I refused to have another makeup again. Even though Adda Maimunah tried to make me do it again. I just felt like it's not worth it because he might not even look at my face.

I just hope he is calm and religious. I wouldn't like a husband that is short tempered because I can be like that sometimes.

A knock was heard pulling us out of our thoughts and our house maid Dija came in.

"Hajja, the groom is here." Dija said looking down.

I don't get why they always look down. I mean we are human beings too.

"Okay, she's coming." She turned to me.

"Toh, where's your veil, let's go and meet you father."

My mom arranged my clothes and veil. After that, we headed downstairs to my dad's sitting room, where we met him.

He talked to me and bid me goodbye. Well I guess that's it, I'm leaving my parents house to my house.

I went out and saw him waiting for me by the car. If I say he's not good looking and handsome, then I'm lying. The kaftan suits him well. It's been long I saw him.

He have really become more matured.

"Assalam Alaikum" I said while looking down.

"Wa Alaikumus Salam" He answered shifting his gaze to me.

"Shall we?" He said and I could feel his gaze on me. God help me.

"Yes, please." I said.

I turned around and hug my mom one last time before leaving with him. My husband.

Abubakar's POV

I was asked to come and pick her up to which I didn't object. Mariya has still not replied my massage which is somehow disturbing me.

She came out and hugged her mom when I said we should get going. I greeted her parents before joining her in the car.

"My dad gave me a house he recently bought. He said the house has fully furnished and renovated. My mom has stock up the kitchen with food items and there are five maids in the house. You can tour it after we reached there. That's if you want to," I told her.

"Okay." Was the only reply I got.

Well, I can say she is much more matured than she was before. She was a talkative back then and I hate noise.

I just hope she is like that and it's not a facade because I love silence and my space.
