C18 LUNA'S BETA II

"Alpha, there is someone-" A man started to say, but Raymond only held up his unused hand.

"There is," Raymond said and squeezed my hand,

"My mate is here. But, she doesn't like company." He said in a low voice. I kissed his hand and pulled it closer to me, making his body shrug to the side.

"Of course, Alpha. I have not heard of you finding your mate. Congratulations, Alpha, and uh, Luna." The man said.

"T-thank you," I said in a very low voice, knowing they heard me.

"Thank you." Raymond said, I could see a small smile on his face, then he turned serious, "Have there been any reports of rouges?"

"There have been packs spotted, but there haven't been any more rogues. We've been monitoring the surrounding areas and setting up multiple cameras in the forest. We have yet to find anyone." A voice said

"We've also contacted the neighboring packs." A voice said. A voice I knew, mixed emotions ran through my body as I tried to remember that voice. I could remember the memories that came along with it. I closed my eyes and leaned against Aeron's knee for support: "They said it would be better if we had something to work with.”

"Do you know her name?" Another voice asked, "Or what she might look like?"

"I do not. Alpha Kevin did not give me that information. Whatever you do, if you find her. Bring her to me alive." He said in a low voice, "I want to be the one to punish her."

"Of course, Alpha." The men said together.

"Will Luna and you be joining us for the first day of winter?" A man asked, "We are all going on our annual run."

"I do not know yet." Raymond said and looked down at me for a moment, "I will update you when the time comes." He said with a tight smile.

"Of course, Alpha." The man said as they shuffled.

"You are all dismissed, except for you," Raymond said and pointed at someone. Listening carefully, I could hear the others leave the room and moved closer to Raymond, but stopped before coming out. "Yes, Alpha?" The voice said. Raymond’s hand fell in my hair as he shifted in his chair. There was silence until Raymond pushed back and moved the chair away from the desk, almost making me fall, and stood up at the front desk.

"Why is it, when you spoke, my mate's heart started to race?" Raymond asked in a low, angered tone. I reached out for him, but he dodged my hand. "She must know you." He said.

"I'm sorry, Alpha, but I never met your mate before. I am not familiar with her scent." The man replied quickly. I looked down at the black carpet I sat on and sighed.

"Raymond," I whispered. He looked at me and then backed up at the man. Reaching for him again, I frowned when I couldn't touch my mate. Liya whimpered as we watched him. Very slowly,y I crawled from under the desk and stood up. My body shook as I turned around to see the man.

He stared at me for a moment, and his eyes widened with shock as he recognized me. After the shock had settled, fear filled his face. And then I remembered him, his brown, warm eyes and his brown hair that rested against his face. 'Only an omega,' Cameron. My wolf silently purred as we stared at each other for a moment. Raymond walked up to me and wrapped an arm around my waist. "Is he someone who hurt you?" He asked in a low voice. I could feel the anger rolling off his body. I placed a hand on his chest and shook my head.

"No." I said and looked at Cameron, "H-he h-h-hel-" I sighed and looked up to my mate, “H-he hel-he-l-p-help-p-ed me." I said, Aeron hasn't taught me the word yet. My face burned from the embarrassment I felt as my mate looked at me, confused. He then rubbed my back as he looked at Cameron.

"You do know her? Did you lie?" Raymond asked with anger in his voice.

"No," I said and turned towards him. His hazel eyes looked down at me as I shook my head,

"No, Raymond ." I said in a low voice, "Please." I said and grabbed his hand.

Raymond looked between Cameron and me and then shook his head. I held onto his hand and brought it to my lips; softly, I kissed his knuckles. I was fearing for Cameron's safety; I didn't want Aeron to hurt him. Cameron had fed me and given me water while the others hurt me. He was the only man who showed me kindness, the first man, at least.

He never touched my body the way other men had. I owed him a debt; if it wasn't for him, I would have never found Raymond, because I would have been dead. I swallowed as I looked at him. I remembered his offer not to make me feel anything. I squeezed Raymond's arm as I looked up to him with wide eyes.

Raymond looked towards me before he turned to Cameron, "Cameron, you will no longer be with the warriors.” He said in a stern voice.

Cameron's mouth opened as he tried to object, but stopped. He looked so sad, crushed as he stared at his Alpha with disbelief. I looked up to Aeron with wide eyes as I felt guilt fill my heart. I didn't want this. "As of today, you will no longer be on patrols unless needed, and you are stripped of the omega title." He added.

"Have I done something wrong, Alpha?" Cameron asked, allowing his voice to crack.

"It seems my mate has taken a liking to you," Raymond said and pulled me into his chest. He let out a small smile as he looked up to Cameron,

"Last tournament, you were second, weren't you?" Raymond asked, Cameron nodded, "Then, as your Alpha, I strip you of your Omega status and officially appoint you to guard the Luna. With that being said, you will be Luna's beta. If you wish to be mine, you will have a higher chance when Jon steps down or is dealt with. If you are uncomfortable with this position, I can allow you to go back to being an omega." Raymond asked and looked at him.

Cameron's chest rose and fell as he lifted himself higher. His face held no emotion as he bowed, "I am grateful you considered me Alpha. I am honored to be your Luna's beta and to watch over her. I swear on my last breath, I will protect your mate if any harm comes to her." Cameron said and then allowed himself to smile. Raymond walked away from me and grabbed hold of his hand. I watched as Cameron’s eyes widened for a moment, then lit up.

After a moment, Raymond let go of his hand and walked back to me, "You might need some time to sleep that off." He said and then sat down.

Cameron's eyes were wide and lit as he excused himself from the room. I looked at him questionably as Raymond chuckled, "I gave him some Beta strength, maybe a bit more than I did with Jack. I need him strong if he is going to protect something so precious in my life." Raymond said and placed a hand on my cheek.

"Thank you," I said and leaned my face against his hand. Slowly, I reached for him and held onto him, nuzzling my face in his chest as I closed my eyes. I yawned against his chest and then smiled up at him.

"Let's get you to bed." Raymond said as I slowly closed my eyes, "You've been so tired lately. Are you feeling okay?" He asked.

"Of course," I said and smiled towards him. Grateful that he didn't hurt Cameron, I grabbed hold of his arm as I felt my heart swell in my chest.
