C4 Payback

"You know the human girl, don't you?" Greg asked as we got to my office after the little trip.

"It doesn't matter," I growled, refusing to talk about it.

Violet was a part of my past. I shouldn't have taken her but now that my wolf had done it, a perfect plan was slowly building in my mind.

I couldn't wait to test it out.

"Are you even listening to me!" Greg's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

I raised my head to meet him and corked my head to the side. "I fucking heard you and I said, it doesn't matter if I know her."

His eyes dimmed and he let out a sigh. "I hope you know what you are doing. Focus on breeding and avoid unnecessary distractions," he said. "These are very dangerous times. An heir is our one true hope." With that, he turned and left the room.

I made a face at the door as it closed behind him. I couldn't phantom why he was insisting on an heir. My family was still out there. I wasn't the only Lycan in the world!

My father, my siblings, and my aunt, Emily, were still out there somewhere and I was going to find them.

I didn't have to worry about making an heir like it was the top priority. What I should be concerned about was how to find my family and make the humans pay for their crimes.

As the thought of the humans slipped into my mind, I remembered the plan I had been dreaming up before Greg's rude interruption.

Now, that was important.

I relaxed into my seat and let my sinister plans develop in my mind. The goddess had just given me a perfect gift. A way to inflict pain unto my enemies without even laying a finger on them.

A knock on my door pulled me out of my thoughts and I looked up to find my maid, Hilda.

"My king, dinner is ready," she said.

Even better, I thought as an evil smirk danced on my lips.

"Humm," I mumbled as I slowly got off the chair and started for the door. "Get the guards to bring me the slave I just bought," I instructed.

"Yes, my king."

I walked majestically to the dining hall, enjoying the echoes my shoes made as they kissed the tiled ground beneath me.

Excitement bubbled within me and even though I didn't want to admit it, deep down I knew it was a thrill due to the anticipation of what I was about to do.

When I got to the dining hall, my three concubines were already seated around the table, waiting for me.

"Hello ladies," I said as I made my way to my seat at the head of the table.

"My king," they chorused, bowing their heads in my presence.

Thalia was on my right and Savannah was on my left. Hera, who was always the timid one, sat next to Thalia.

The maids scurried inside with trays of food the moment I sat down but my eyes remained at the entrance.

She wasn't here yet.

My wolf hissed, pushing to the surface as we both hated being delayed. What was keeping her?

The maids finished placing the courses of meal on the table and they began dishing it out.

I was almost howling at Hilda for an explanation as to why my instruction had not been obeyed when wild red hair filled the entrance.

A soft growl escaped my throat at the sight. Why would they fucking bring me this girl?! She wasn't even appealing! The only reason I chose her was because I wanted to pick someone else other than Violet and she happened to be near enough.

"Hilda!" I roared, slapping my palms over the table.

The utensils clattered and the women with me held their breaths in fear. They all knew not to piss me off.

As much as I hated killing wolves, for silly mistakes, they knew I wouldn't hesitate to kill any who disobeyed my orders.

Hilda appeared in front of me in seconds. "My king!" Her head was bowed and I saw her shoulders trembled slightly.

She was scared, which was good. She had just messed up an order!

"I asked you to get me the slave! And not the fucking redhead!" I roared at her.

She flinched out of her skin and took an unconscious step backward.

"Please, forgive me, my King. I —I thought you... I was— I will go get her myself!" She stuttered and ran out of the dining room.

She was lucky my plan was more exciting than her mistake or her blood would have been mixed with the meal on the table.

I sat down blowing up steam as I waited for her to bring the right human this time.

"My King," Savannah spoke up with that soothing voice of hers, "why not eat as you wait for them to bring the slave..."

"I am not hungry!" I growled with my eyes fixed at the entrance.

Knowing Savannah I knew she wouldn't give up easily but thankfully the door to the dining opened and this time, it was what I asked for.

Violet.

Her blonde hair was cleaner than it looked back at Aaliyah's shed. She had also changed into fresh clothes and her blue eyes twinkled with excitement as she stepped in with her shoulders high.

Poor thing. She had no idea why I called for her.

"Ax— my king," she mumbled as she got to the table.

"Violet," I responded, my wolf jumping around in my head. "Take a seat and join us."

"Thank you." She bowed and moved to Savannah's side.

I snapped my fingers and Savannah looked up at me with raised brows.

"I am hungry now. Serve me," I said.

My mood was lifted again, now that Violet was here. The night was going to be long and wonderful.

Savannah got up and took a plate. She served me a spoonful of the boiled vegetables and a scoop of chicken wings on another plate.

As I ate, my eyes lingered over Violet. She had become a full woman now. No longer the little ignorant child she once was.

Perfect.

"Will you be spending the night in my room tonight?" Savannah asked as the meal came close to the end.

My brows knitted into a thin line as I turned to her. "Am I supposed to give you my schedule now?"

Her cheeks turned pink and she dropped her eyes to her plate.

"I can spend the night anywhere I choose. It is not your responsibility to demand where I stay. Is that fucking clear?" I growled, turning to all of them, one after the other.

Then my eyes came to stop at Violet's. She didn't cower away as they did. She stared back at me with a straight unbothered face.

My smirk returned. I was going to wipe that calmness off her face.

"Violet, walk with me. There is something I need you to see," I said and got to my feet.

I walked to the door, listening to her soft steps behind me.

As we got far enough from the dining, she closed up the distance between us and we walked side by side.

From the way she breathed, I knew she had something to say and I waited.

"Axel, I am so glad you bought me," she finally broke the silence.

My fist tightened in anger at the way she called my name like we were friends but I held back. I was going to punish her at the right time. Not now.

"I thought I was going to die down there or worse, get sold to sick people!"

Again, the need to correct her use of words buried itself under my skin. My people were not sick. They had suffered at her parents' hands and by all right, they were only getting their revenge.

Up ahead, I could see the stairs that led to the dungeons and I calmed myself knowing her punishment wasn't so far away now.

"Thank you so much. I am so grateful to you," she continued rambling as we took the stairs one at a time.

"Where are we going?" She asked the first rational question since we left the kitchen.

Without turning to look at her, I replied, "Somewhere you will never regret..."

Her lips stayed sealed as we got off the final landing and I stopped. It was completely dark down here and I felt around the wall for the switch.

I found it, but I allowed the darkness to linger longer.

The smell of urine and faeces filled the air around us. It whispered the truth about where we stood.

Finally, I turned on the light and she let out a soft gasp at the sight in front of us.

We were in the dungeons —Where I kept top-ranked humans who were involved in the revolution.

I made sure they received the same kind of treatment they gave me and my people —or maybe worse.

"Welcome to the dungeon Violet," I sang happily and I walked further down to reveal the true package I had for her.

"Do not worry about your people. The cells have large windows. There is plenty of air and rain when it comes. The only problem is we do not have blankets to give them," I said, enjoying the way blood drained from her face.

The confidence and excitement in her vanished and all that was left was a shock.

We got to the last door at the end of the corridor and I stopped.

Violet was still a few feet behind me and I waited for her with a bright smile on my face.

"And finally, look who we have here..." I said motioning to the cell.

Her face contorted into surprise as she looked at me with those piercing blue eyes.

I wiggled my brows urging her to look into the well-lit cell.

Then she finally turned. Her eyes enlarged and she rushed to the bars.

"Daddy! Mommy!" She cried as tears burst through her eyes.

Her pitiful excuse of parents jumped off their beds and ran to her. Her mother grabbed her hands, kissing her through the bars as they cried.

I moved closer to her and slowly positioned myself behind her.

"Violet," I whispered and she turned to look at me with tears rolling down her eyes.

"Now that you are here, I can finally start torturing them," I growled.
