C14 Chapter 14

"ARE you going to school now?" he asked when he saw her fixing herself in front of the mirror.

They had already finished eating and done washing the plates. He didn't let her wash because her clothes would get wet. So she let him go at will. Is she still the one who doesn't want that? She grinned without thinking that the person in front of her will see that. Sawyer was just on the edge of the mirror staring at what she was doing.

"Why are you smiling at?" His eyebrows were so high that he suddenly looked at her.

Her grin faded when she saw him frowning as it met the thick eyebrow.

"Is it forbidden to smile?" She blinked and resumed combing.

When she finished she took her bag and marched out of the house. He followed her of course. She picked up the umbrella and was about to leave when he restrained her in his arms.

"What?" He glared at him.

"You're still mad?"

Phoebe couldn't help but to leer again. She was also wondering to herself. What her right does she have to be angry at him? He just asked earlier and she was suddenly get angry.

“I am not angry. Why should I be angry at yoy? ”

“I don’t know. You asked yourself about that.”

From the moment he met the man, she learned and use to leer every day, which she had never done before.

“I don't know about it. I'm leaving, ha. ”

"Hmmm."

"What hmmm?" Annoyingly, she turned her head back.

"Nothing."

Sawyer pulled her closer to his body as her eyes widened. Her head was still receding as his head approached her face. Her eyes widened even more in shock as he kissed her forehead. Her lips parted.

"Take care," he said softly and softly close to her ear before he released her.

She was about to speak when he suddenly closed the door of her house. The hell? She has not yet been able to move from her place. She only had her eyes on the door as if that man was there. She was still shocked. That's all she knows.

"W-What ..." she can't even finish her word.

Not on her own mind she walked away. But she had not yet left the yard when his voice was she heard again.

"Flower!"

She slowly turned around and saw him peeking out in the door, the corner of his lip raised. He still looks fun to see her affected by what happened. She didn't answer yet but frowned.

"Please open your umbrella, your skin is already red!" his voice was loud so she quickly looked at her arm. It's already blushing. That's when she realized that her umbrella hadn't opened yet, she was just holding it. She was only soaked in the sun for a few minutes and she immediately blushed. She quickly opened the umbrella and then she turned her back to the man.

“Whatever! Crazy! ” she shouted and left there.

She even heard his laugh before finally getting away. When she arrived at the hut, there were already many of her students. It was one o'clock when she taught them again. There she poured her full attention but from time to time that man haunted her mind.

"Madee, hey!"

Someone called her so she was stop teaching. And Caldwell and Laurel were she seen outside the hut. She turned to the students.

“I will give you a test first. It's easy so I'm sure you can perfect it. My students was very smart, it is? ” she said while smiling widely.

“Yes,” they answered in unison.

She wrote their test on the board before saying goodbye to talk her friends.

“Why? Is there a problem?" She opened the door.

Caldwell laughed softly and Laurel shook her head.

"I'll just ask if you're going to the party at the Mayor's house tomorrow," Laurel stated before she crossed her arms.

She was stunned before frowning. She forgot about that thing. The Mayor invited them to the party because his son was coming from America.

"You forgot about it," Caldwell said after he raise his eyebrows. That's not a question, it's a statement. Maybe he saw her expression.

"I forgot about it." Then she chuckled awkwardly.

“As always. Fortunately, we went to see you. You are still what the Mayor expects there. ” Laurel stated.

"Can I not go?" She thinks of Sawyer. She didn't want to leave him at home again. She even plans to introduce him to her friends. Maybe she take him there?

“You need to. Why you're not going to come?” Caldwell frowning at her.

"Can I bring someone there, then?" Instead of answering him she asked question.

She doesn’t seem to be comfortable when she can’t let him come with her. If she can take him there, she will just introduce him to her friends. She just hope it's okay to let anyone come in that party.

“Yes you can. Will you bring someone there? It is Shenay?” Caldwell approached her especially when he asked that.

She saw the change in the expression on Laurel's face when she saw what Caldwell had done. Phoebe sighed. She knows that Laurel is in love with Caldwell, Laurel love him when she was young but she didn't do anything to get his attention or even admit it.

They're friends. Laurel didn’t want to ruin that just because of her confession. He said he was satisfied with what they had now. But Phoebe feels it that everytime Caldwell approaches another woman she's hurting. She knows her bestfriend well.

Phoebe stepped away and went to Laurel place. She hugged her friend and then looked at Caldwell.

“Not Shenay. Someone that very special to me.” She need to say it.

Phoebe knew already. She knew Caldwell was in love with her. She's is not so innocent. She knew how to feel around her. She can also read the gesture of someone.

That's why she also doesn't want him to get too close to her when Laurel is around. She doesn't want to hurt her only female friend. What Caldwell like about her? Laurel is more than beautiful than her. She's more than anything.

She already did say she admired Caldwell but that was all. Just like when she said, she has a crush on him but not to the point that she wants him to be her boyfriend. She only considers him an older brother.

"Who?" They asked her in unison, their eyebrows was meet.

Caldwell frowned. Laurel suddenly averted her gaze before taking a deep breath. It seems that these two always talk at the same time so she still wonders why Laurel still doesn't seem to be used to it. Phoebe wanted to tease her but Caldwell was staring at her.

"Secret. I'll just introduce him to you tomorrow. Will the others will come too?”

"Yeah but I'm not sure if Harkin and Kale will come." Caldwell answered.

She pouted her lips. "Tell them to come."

"Noted ma'am."

"We need a partner, Mayor said it yesterday," Laurel said then walked over to her.

Her forehead furrowed. "Why do we need that?"

She shrugged. She was trampled with annoyance. That Mayor is annoying, he knows she doesn't have a partner. He's teasing her. She even wanted to protest when Sawyer entered her mind.

“I can—” she didn't let Caldwell finish.

“I have a partner, hmm. I asked him later so that I could introduce him as well tomorrow,” she giggled when she said that.

That Sawyer broke down she make sure of that. She will also be able to make up for what he did lately. What right does he have to surprise her? When her abnormal friends actually punched him she would just laugh at him.

“And who the hell—” She cut his word again. She pointed to Caldwell.

“You, please accompany Laurel. I don't want her to be partner with that five anymore.”

When they were in high school at JS Prom, Caldwell was her partner so she made Laurel partner with Ziegler, but that crazy man just left Laurel before looking for a woman to flirt with. And when there's a party at their school that's what the five do to Laurel. Will she also cannot blame them. This crazy bestfriend of her is also to blame. She's always beating the five. After they graduated it was only then that Phoebe found out the reason why she was doing that.

“But I want—”

“It’s okay. Let's just meet tomorrow there. The party is at night, isn't it? ”

"Yes." Laurel answered while holding her arm tightly.

She saw Caldwell's shoulder drop. It was as if heaven and earth had fallen. His eyebrows was meeting in astonishment.

"It settle then." She turned to her student. “All right and I'll come inside now. It's look like my students are done.”

“Okay. We are leaving now.” She just nodded.

"I'll stay here." Surprisingly, they looked at Caldwell as he spoke.

“Why? Aren't we going to go to the market?" Laurel asked in astonishment.

Caldwell just looked at her before looking back at Phoebe. She sighed seeing the sadness and pain in her friend's eyes. She wants to punch Caldwell for that. She didn’t really want Laurel to be hurt because of her and Caldwell. She was not at fault but because of what Caldwell was doing she was the one who felt sorry for her.

‘I need to do something for Caldwell to turn his attention to Laurel. I don't want to get to the point where Laurel and I will fight just because of one man,’ she said in her thought.

Phoebe shook her head. “No Cad, just go with Laurel. I can't pay attention to you either because of the children. They may not be able to focus too. The first and last time you hung out here, they hardly focused on what I was teaching because of your presence,” she said for a long time and then step away.

“Are you giving—”

“Cad, go ahead. I'm going inside. See you tomorrow, guys.” Then she turned and went inside the hut.

Shw saw that the two had left so she continued what she was doing. And when they went home they were all together. They walked happily home until Caldwell stopped in front of them. Her forehead furrowed. She stopped walking and told the children to go first.

“Why are you here? Where is Laurel? ” she asked gently.

"At their house. I'll accompanied you? ”

"Okay."

Even if she refused, she knew he would only force her. He took her bag "Who's your partner again tomorrow?"

"Someone."

"Who?" He's really compelling.

“You wait, Cad. I will introduce you tomorrow him tomorrow.” she is frowning now. It's because his abnormal.

"You have no other friends but the seven of us, Madee," he said emphatically so she was stunned.

She knew that. What's the problem with him? Does he still make sense? When she was really irratate she would pinch him.

"Tomorrow." That's all she said and then she walk fast.

When she reached the yard in her house she stopped walking and blocked him. Maybe it's because he's still going to enter her house. He still can't see Sawyer for now. Phoebe cross her arms while her brows up.

"You can't come inside so you better stay up here."

"What?"

"You're only up to here, Caldwell." She grabbed her stuff from him. “All right, I'll come in. See you tomorrow.” She waved her hand before turning her back on him. She hurriedly run inside the house and then closed the door. She could still sighing.

"Who is that?"

"Oh Caldwell!" She touch her chest after jumping in panic.

She slowly turned to the source of that voice. When she finally saw him she raised an eyebrow. Sawyer is in front of her, crossing his arm and glaring her. He has no upper cloth anymore.

"Why are you always surprise me? Are you going to kill me?" she shouted.

“Tsk! Who's that?"

"Caldwell probably." She leer then walked over and tore him off. She avoided looking at his belly portion. "Get dressed."

"It's hot."

"There's an electric fan there, use it."

"Don't want."

"Stop me from your don't want, don't want Sawyer Zane."

“Youre mad at me again. What did I do, Flower? ” She was stunned at the proper entry into her room.

That endearment of him again. She closed her eyes tightly when she felt something tickle in her stomach.

"Irratating." She remembered what she had talked about with Caldwell and Laurel earlier so she addressed it. “We need to talk. I'll get dressed first before it. And please, put your shirt on. ” Then she entered her room.
