C8 JUST A BUSINESS WIFE

I can’t help to smile every time I remember how we celebrated our first monthsary as husband and wife.

Imagine we only celebrated our first monthsary, what more if it's our first anniversary?!

And to thank him for last night, I decided to take a leave from work to cook lunch for my husband.

I wanted to surprise him that’s why I did not tell him my plan to visit him in his office.

When I enter the building almost all the employees are greeting me.

It's my first time to be here. I’m quite surprised knowing that the people here knew me.

I was so busy with work that I wasn’t able to visit him here.

That’s why I will not miss this chance to surprise him.

I’m also excited to see my husband in his office. How is he as a boss and how he looks like in his office? Is he a serious or a cool boss?

I went straight to the reception to inquire though I already know my husband’s office. I just do that for formality considering that it's my first time here.

“Hi!” I greeted them.

I see recognition from their eyes.

“Good afternoon Mrs. Ottave!” They greeted me.

“I'm visiting my husband. Is he in his office?” I asked them.

“We'll just call her secretary Ma'am.” They said.

While they are calling my husband’s office I took a glance at the building’s lobby.

Just like our building, their lobby also has a minimalist look, simple but elegant.

“Ma'am Mara as per your husband's secretary, Sir Maru is in his office.”

“Okay. Thanks. ...” I look at her nameplate “Abbie”

I used the private elevator and push the 30th-floor button.

I don't why but I suddenly felt nervous. It's my first time seeing him in his office.

When I reach the 30th floor, my heart is beating crazily.

I let a heavy sighed before I went out of the elevator.

When his secretary saw me she was about to greet me when I signal her to be quiet.

“I want to surprise my husband,” I whispered to her.

She just smiles and went back to her work.

I was about to open the door when I heard him and his dad talking.

“What's the meaning of this Maru!” I can sense anger in his voice.

“What do you mean dad?” Maru asked curiously.

“Don't play dumb with me young man! Look at those papers! What is she doing in our company!!!” His father’s voice raised.

“Dad she applied here, she passed the interview that's why she's working here now.” He calmly explained.

“You think I believe you? I thought you're happy with Mara?!”

My forehead furrowed.

Why did his dad mention my name?

“Yes, dad. We just celebrated our first month yesterday.” He looks tired of explaining.

“Then why is your mistress work here?!”

My eyes widen.

Mistress?

Does Maru have a mistress?!

Who is she?

“Dad, Jana is not my mistress!” He said angrily.

His father smirks.

“Really? Then why is she here? If she is not your mistress why can’t you cut your connection with that girl?! You think I didn’t know that until now you are still seeing each other?!”

I can’t take it anymore. I think I've heard enough.

I went out of his office. I ignore his secretary calling me. I just want to get out from here.

I felt like someone is chasing me, so I almost run like a mad girl. I wanted to leave the building as fast as I can. When I reach my car, I just let myself to cry.

I laugh bitterly.

I scolded myself for thinking that maybe our marriage will work, that Maru and I will be like a normal couple.

But I guess I'm wrong.

Reality hits me again.

No hope for me.

I'm just a business wife and forever will be.
