C5 Like Poles

Hunter

I'm a beast to distant folks but to my pack members, the Great Protector. You can also call me the Alpha. With my sharp claws, I scribbled the title on the wall of the pack house.

I rearranged myself upon hearing the sound of approaching feet. Gradually, my eyes went dim, and my claws disappeared before Beta Adolphus pushed the door to the pack house.

“My Alpha, the newly admitted pups are here,” Adolphus said, leading three hairy kids through the door. As soon as they had entered the house, they began to give off a mild canine smell that overpowered the room.

I narrowed my eyes and peered closely, with my heightened senses, I could tell that they were two boys and a girl. “Family resemblance,” I growled, and they shivered. It was a dark room, and so it was difficult for the kids to see me because if they were able to, they would have screamed their throats out. I fluttered my tail on the seat and leaned over the table to smell them.

“Adolphus,”

“My Alpha,”

“These once have a compelling gene. You'll have to put them in a separate apartment until we begin to see women trooping in for the caretaking service.” I howled at Adolphus, who equally howled in return. The kids were frightened, but the older one pulled the younger one, who was a girl, into his bosom and patted her back.

“He is brave,” I told my Beta.“

He really is, even from the first day.” He nodded in affirmation.

“Youngster, who are you?”

“Gundulf,” He responded with an unwavering tone, his eyes moved from my face to Adolphus'.

"And your siblings?”

“This is Acwulf and here is Accalia, my little sister.” He finished by resting his hands on Accalia's shoulder.

“Interesting, tell me about your parents.” The boy took a quick glance at Acwulf and Accalia, and they spontaneously blinked.

“We have no parents. We lived with an older woman named Paula until she became too weak to care.”

“Welcome to your new home, consider me your new father and the caretaker who will be assigned to you, your new mother.”

“Yes, Alpha, oops! Daddy.” They stole glances and bowed.I smiled inwardly. It would be a thing of pride, of course, to be a father to powerful pups like these.

“Thank you, Adolphus, we are done,” I said, picking up a pen to write down their names.

Rosella

“The Alpha will meet with you all in less than a minute, please make yourselves comfortable.” A lady said to us as she went around sharing meat and wine with those who were interested.

I couldn't take my eyes off the door where the Alpha would emerge from. It was an oval-shaped entrance in a long hall characterized by darkness.

Soon, we began to hear indistinct movements from nowhere. Afterward, we spotted only bright moving colored eyes that went dim gradually.

My dilated pupils captured a dark moving creature as it went from the entrance into the hall, and straightway to a seat.

It was the Alpha. He climbed on his seat effortlessly and leaned forward on the table before robbing his sensitive nose,

“I can smell a familiar scent,” He began. “Adolphus,”

“My Alpha,”

“Lights,”

At once, the room was illuminated. Goodness me! The Alpha was supposed to be the ugly beast as should be, but here was a man with matchless beauty. He got down from his seat and made toward us, no, me to be precise.

“You all, here's my Beta, Adolphus.” He rested his hands on the table.

“You,” He turned to me. “What's your name?”

“Rosella,” He got closer and began to sniff my hair and clothes, probably to tell if I had a wolf, and it scared the shit out of me.

I couldn't stand the aura that surrounded him when he got so close.

“Do you know me?” His forefinger lifted my jaw, raising my face to his view.

“I only heard about you,” I relaxed. “From people.” I lowered my eyes immediately after.

“Ella, have you carried out caretaking services before?” Did he just shorten my name to Ella?

“Yes, twice,” I quickly lied, with a serious look. I still had my eyes in the direction of the other ladies.

“She's a brunette,” He smiled at his Beta, who simply smirked.

He nodded at me, his dreamy eyes scanned my body a few more times. I summoned courage and began to stare into them, though he made me feel terrible with the undeserved attention he showed me. Was there something wrong with my dress? Oh, f×ck! Perhaps, I wasn't dressed as a caretaker, but I could learn to.

He cleared his throat, “I have three special kids in my orphanage, and I want you to be their caretaker. Understood?”

“Yes, my Alpha.” I looked up and caught a smile on his face. I maintained calmness as I lowered my butt into my seat. Vladimir should not know about this, I thought in my heart.

“Adolphus, lead the others to the orphanage and show them around.”

“Yes, Alpha.”

I picked up my purse and made to join the others when I heard a deep voice from right behind me,

“You stay,” He held my wrist.

You should understand the feeling of getting special attention from someone when there were others with you. I mean, he didn't say a word to the others except asking Adolphus to show them around the orphanage.

“Come with me,”

I followed him. There were paintings of him raging war with rival packs and other external enemies. Furthermore, horrible paintings of him in his wolf form filled the spaces on the wall.

Does he really look that awful in his wolf form? I wondered in fear.

He pushed a door open, and we got into a really beautiful apartment. “This is where you will stay with the pups. They are away in school and will be returning very soon.”

The door opened again, Accalia jumped in first, then Acwulf and Gundulf with their school uniforms. They both gave me a sharp smile after briefly confirming that the Alpha was not watching. I took a deep breath and tried to keep things under control. The effect and emotions that erupted through me upon seeing my kids again couldn't be compared to the joy of getting a job where I'll be offered every single thing free of charge.

“Now, this will be easier than I thought,” The Alpha said, moving toward my oldest child, Gundulf.
