C14 New Job!

As Mrs. Qin hesitated, unsure of how to begin, Lan Qingyue let out a few cold laughs and said, "Jee Ange, your acting is impressive!"

Jee Ange was completely taken aback by her words.

"Still not admitting it, huh? Don't think I don't know you stole the earrings!" Lan Qingyue suddenly stood up, pointing a finger at Jee Ange.

"I didn't! It wasn't me. How could I possibly steal?" Jee Ange was genuinely flustered and quickly tried to explain.

Although the mistake was indeed hers—perhaps she misplaced the earrings while packing or forgot where she put them—it was her own carelessness. But to be accused of theft was too much.

"Enough. Qingyue, don't falsely accuse people," Mrs. Qin intervened. While it was true that Ange was at fault, she was the one Mrs. Qin had already considered part of the family. Seeing her being wrongfully accused was something even the usually reserved Mrs. Qin couldn't stand.

"Auntie, I'm not falsely accusing her! I've investigated. Jee Fusheng and she are in cahoots. Jee Fusheng is a compulsive gambler, deep in debt. Jee Ange has been stealing from the Qin family to help him pay off his debts!" As she spoke, Lan Qingyue pulled out a voice recorder and pressed play. The voice was all too familiar to Jee Ange. Mrs. Qin was also taken aback.

On the recording, Jee Fusheng said, "My daughter is a good girl. I've let her down, not giving her a good life, and now she's doing this because she has no choice. Besides stealing, there's no other way..."

Jee Fusheng's voice was filled with helplessness and bitterness. If this hadn't been about her, Jee Ange might have believed it too—that a young girl would steal to help her family.

Even now, she was bewildered. She didn't understand the so-called evidence or why Lan Qingyue was targeting her. But one thing was clear: Lan Qingyue saw her as an enemy and had come prepared today.

Three days ago.

In an inconspicuous corner of the café, Jee Fusheng sat across from a mysterious woman wearing sunglasses. He confirmed once more, "So, if I just start recording, you'll pay me twenty grand?"

The woman replied briskly, "Yes."

Seeing her quick response, Fusheng got greedy and said, "Make it thirty. My family could use the extra cash."

The woman was clearly displeased with his greed, but since she needed his help, she had to tolerate it. All she wanted was the recording.

In the end, Fusheng got the thirty thousand dollars he longed for and headed straight to the casino, never sparing a thought for his daughter. Meanwhile, Lan Qingyue obtained the recording she deemed crucial, secretly celebrating her impending victory.

"Jee Ange, what do you have to say for yourself? The Qin family has been so good to you, and yet you have the nerve to do something like this!" Lan Qingyue pressed on, cornering Ange.

"I didn't," Ange replied simply, believing that the truth would eventually come out. At this point, no amount of explanation would help.

Listening to her weak defense, Qingyue smirked coldly.

Ange felt a bit helpless and strangely insecure. Indeed, in front of Qingyue, she seemed powerless. With just a flick of a finger, others could easily "deal" with her.

Seeing Ange fall silent, Qingyue said, "Mother Qin, I don't think someone like her should stay with the Qin family any longer! With such poor character, she's not even fit to be a servant!"

Qin's mother remained silent. She had initially chosen to believe Ange, but in the face of real evidence, she couldn't help but waver. Besides, it was clear that Qingyue was determined to drive Ange out.

"Haha, someone like her really can't be a servant," Qin Xiao said, walking out of the study. Standing over six feet tall, he strolled over with his hands in his pockets. Even a strong-willed woman like Qingyue couldn't help but feel her heart race.

Lan Qingyue felt a surge of satisfaction as she heard his words. Jee Ange would have no choice but to leave this time. So much for thinking you were something special, huh? Playing the victim won't get you anywhere because Qin Xiao is on my side!
