C3 They Came to Cause Trouble!
"Sir, this is a private residence. You can't enter unless Mr. Qin agrees..." The security guard was still trying to reason with Jee Fusheng in a calm manner.
But Ange knew that her father, Jee Fusheng, wasn't the type to listen to reason or care about family ties.
She hurried over and said, "Dad, what are you doing here?!"
"You ungrateful girl! I introduced you to Qin Xiao, and now you're living the good life while ignoring the debts we owe?! You even had him call the cops to arrest your own father! I've raised you all these years, only to find out you're a traitor!"
Jee Fusheng's face twisted with anger. The debts had driven him to desperation, and he had no regard for family or dignity.
All he knew was that if he didn't pay up soon, he'd be in serious trouble. He had no doubt that those ruthless loan sharks would follow through on their threats.
"Dad, please calm down. It's not like that," Ange said, unfazed by his insults, as if they weren't directed at her. She quickly explained, "Mr. Qin hired me as a housekeeper. The businessman you introduced me to got into trouble, but Mr. Qin said if I work for him, he'll help pay off our debts."
"He slept with you and now wants you as a housekeeper?! My daughter, who was pure and innocent, and he doesn't even pay up?!" Jee Fusheng was even angrier, trying to force his way inside.
The security guard held him back firmly.
"Dad, how can you say that..." Ange was in disbelief.
She's a young woman, and such things shouldn't be shouted in public!
"Who cares if I said it? Get me the money, or I'll make a scene and ruin the Qin family's reputation!"
"Get him out of here!"
Just as Ange was about to say something, a stern voice came from behind her.
She slowly turned around and realized that at some point, Qin Xiao and his parents had come out and were all standing at the door. Remembering what Jee Fusheng had just said, Jee Ange wished she could dig a hole and bury herself or just disappear entirely.
"Let go of me! You’re all in cahoots, always targeting us ordinary folks..." Jee Fusheng's voice faded into the distance.
With her eyes downcast, Jee Ange walked up to Qin Xiao and quietly said, "I'm sorry for causing you trouble... I'll talk to my dad. I really didn't know he'd come here and make a scene..."
Qin Xiao glanced at her but said nothing, turning to leave.
Jee Ange hesitated, thinking of following him, when Qin's mother, her eyes bright, grabbed her arm. "Ange, were those things just now true? This rascal hasn't even had a girlfriend all these years. Could it be that you two really... That's wonderful!"
"Ma'am, I..."
Jee Ange was about to explain when Qin Xiao, who had already left, strode back with a troubled expression. He told his mother, "Nothing happened between us!"
Suddenly, something flashed in Jee Ange's mind, and she blurted out, "Then why were my clothes the next day..."
Realizing her mistake halfway through, she quickly swallowed the rest of her words. By saying that, wouldn't she just make Qin's mother more convinced that something had happened between them?
Qin Xiao's face went through a range of colors, from dark to red to pale.
"You got drunk and threw up. I had the cleaning staff take your clothes to wash."
Qin's mother seemed quite pleased. Whether or not anything had happened between them, it seemed her son was finally interacting with the opposite sex! What could be better than that? However, thinking about Jee Fusheng's earlier outburst, she felt even more sympathy for Jee Ange.
What kind of father acts like that?
Having been in business for years, she could tell at a glance that Jee Ange was a kind-hearted girl, with none of those complicated schemes in her eyes.
Appearances reflect one's heart. If someone harbors darkness within, no matter how beautiful they are, they can still make others uncomfortable.
Ange worked diligently, cleaning every day in hopes that Qin Xiao would be pleased enough to settle the family's debts.
With Qin Xiao's parents out fishing, the house was left to Ange and Qin Xiao. Ange tread carefully, asking, "Mr. Qin, what would you like for lunch?" The Qin household used to have a chef and staff for cleaning and laundry, but since Ange arrived, Qin Xiao assigned all the tasks to her. Ange accepted without complaint.
"Mr. Qin, that person is here again," the security guard rushed in to announce.
Ange's smile froze instantly. She glanced at Qin Xiao, but his face remained as cold and unreadable as ever.
"Let him in," Qin Xiao said.
"I need to talk to you," Jee Fusheng declared as he entered, carrying himself with an air of superiority.
Ange grew anxious, wanting to persuade Jee Fusheng to be cautious, but a look from Qin Xiao stopped her.
Qin Xiao casually toyed with a knife in his hand and asked, "What do you want to discuss?"
