C12 A Hostile Confrontation

Ruan Hanyu’s figure was veiled in shadows and secrecy at the entrance. His whole demeanor could barely contain the rage he must feel. His handsome face held a stiff expression on it and there was no denying the rage that was emanating from his cold presence.

The aggressors were locked in a deadly battle that had no obvious victor. In the meantime, their positions were in a deadlock.

Ruan Hanyu’s cold eyes stared intently at the scene before him. His gaze held a touch of violence to it as if his bloodlust would force him to act out and kill someone at any given moment. His eyes never left the sight of Jing Chengrui holding onto Mu Qingzhu’s hand.

Seeing Ruan Hanyu's watchful gaze, Jing Chengrui smiled coldly to himself. His gentle gaze sharpened, and inside his eyes could be seen a glint of evil.

The two powerful men traded glances. The hostility and tension between them could not be ignored. The scene was so intense that it was predicted that violence could erupt at any moment.

Sensing that things were becoming overboard, Mu Qingzhu stood to the side feeling very worried. Ruan Hanyu and Jing Chengrui were already rivals in the business world and now they were both fighting for her love. She looked at the two men. They both exhibited signs of jealousy.

Mu Qingzhu was already wary of the gossiping tongues of A City. She did not want to be a laughingstock today, nor did she want to see what happened that night to be plastered all over news magazines all over the world.

She tried to break free out of Jing Chengrui’s arms. While attempting to free herself, she thought to herself that it probably will be most ideal if she did her best to not embarrass Ruan Hanyu any further.

Mu Qingzhu gave her predicament some more consideration. She knew that Jing Chengrui was a proud man. He was welcomed and fawned on by those around him. He, himself, carried immense power and he would not be afraid to stand up to Ruan Hanyu, who controlled all of A City.

Ruan Hanyu’s power was mainly based in A City, while Jing Chengrui had expanded his territories to include Europe. Therefore, the two sides competed to gain the attention of the world market.

Feeling put on the spot, Mu Qingzhu felt the men’s attention will cast an unfavorable light on to her. Her low profile had always kept her out of the limelight. But the scene playing out right now only made it more likely that the confrontation will only grow more heated. She just wanted to calm everyone down and leave this place in one piece.

Ruan Hanyu, taking long strides, was over in seconds. He gave Jing Chengrui an excruciatingly long look. With an arrogant face, he reached out his hand to bound Mu Qingzhu tightly in his arms. He held onto her hand tightly, ignoring the wound on her palm.

His actions deliberately said that Mu Qingzhu belonged to him. That he completely controlled this woman, but Jing Chengrui’s position was such that he could only look at her from afar.

Ruan Hanyu’s advantage was clear.

Noticing Ruan Hanyu’s hold on Mu Qingzhu, Jing Chengrui’s expression darkened. His face was calm as he said these words out loud, “Ruan Hanyu, don’t put it behind you that you already divorced Mu Qingzhu.”

His voice was barely audible, but Ruan Hanyu heard it loud and clear. Ruan Hanyu stood there with a stiff expression on his face. He stared fiercely at Jing Chengrui. His lips opened, but no words parted from them.

“If this is true, then please move aside. This is an urgent situation and I want to take Zhu to the hospital. There is no reason for you to stop me right now.” Jing Chengrui’s tone was indifferent, yet he still stood his ground. “Someone who can’t tell right from wrong is not worthy of such a woman like her.”

Hearing his words, Ruan Hanyu’s face momentarily twitched out of emotion. His grip on Mu Qingzhu’s hand tightened, causing Mu Qingzhu to gasp from the pain. Veins from his forehead throbbed dully. His cold voice matched his icy persona, “Mu Qingzhu is officially an employee of my company. It is my responsibility to take care of her when she is injured.”

His words made Mu Qingzhu very sad. He was only doing this because she was an employee of his company. His actions were because he wanted to protect the image of his company. This goes on to further reinforce her fears that had never cared for her.

Jing Chengrui looked over at Mu Qingzhu’s pale little face, catching her painful expression. This made him angrier. But in the next instant, Mu Qingzhu was looking at him like a pitiful rabbit begging for mercy. Her expression was sad and haunting. Seeing this, moved him deeply. The anger he had just felt dissipated considerably.

He never wanted to see her suffer! The pain she must be feeling must be unbearable!

He interpreted that she was pleading with him not to confront Ruan Hanyu in this particular situation.

It was without a doubt she knew Ruan Hanyu as a man very well.

Jing Chengrui’s rigid body slowly began to relax, his heart softening. Mu Qingzhu exhibited great strength. So much so that she would never show weakness or seek help from him. It was only when it came to Ruan Hanyu would she lower herself to beg him like this.

News about her father’s tragic death only reached him after he arrived in A City. Feelings of sympathy and admiration and even pity swelled from his heart.

He knowingly understood the look on her face. He had watched her face closely on many a fond occasion and was susceptible to its every shift in mood and feeling. He had never missed a single detail and was now more than willing to try and understand her better and treat her like a cherished treasure.

Since she was begging him to stop, he would acknowledge her plea and not embarrass her!

But her injury...

His eyes showed the worry and concern he was feeling for her. Jing Chengrui smiled warmly at Mu Qingzhu and blinked his eyes.

Mu Qingzhu immediately understood the meaning being conveyed from that look and was comforted. Having relaxed noticeably, a faint smile could be seen on the corner of her lips.

“Ruan Hanyu, Zhu needs medical attention immediately. If you still consider yourself a man, please send her to the hospital as soon as possible. Her condition is very urgent. Otherwise, the news of you abusing the staff will compromise the image of Ruan Group.” Jing Chengrui’s expression was serious as he stated the facts. Although his words weren’t easy to swallow, they were very reasonable.

Feelings of anger rose in Ruan Hanyu’s heart. It was one thing to draw on his sympathies for a woman, but it was an entirely different matter altogether for someone like Jing Chengrui to give him orders.

Seeing them flaunt their flirtatious relationship in front of him and disrespecting him like that especially in front of so many employees, Ruan Hanyu felt himself growing more and more enraged.

“Jing Chengrui, I don’t care how far your power reaches, but in A City, I am considered the boss. If you don’t heed my warning and dare to harass any of my employees again, be prepared to face my wrath.” Having said that, he smiled coldly with disdain in his eyes at the man. Giving Jing Chengrui one last meaningful glance, he turned to Mu Qingzhu and carried her out of the room.

“Get your hands off of me,” Mu Qingzhu said as she struggled against Ruan Hanyu’s grip. Once she was out of Jing Chengrui’s line of sight, all pretenses flew out of the window.

“Stop struggling.” Ruan Hanyu spoke into her ear. The more she struggled, the tighter he hugged her in his arms. His chest was burning with excruciating anger at this very moment.

Tonight, under his orders, Special Assistant Liu had arranged this welcome banquet especially to welcome Mu Qingzhu to the Ruan Group. Not only did she not thank him, but this woman had caused a scene on more than one occasion and caused him to lose considerable face. She even had the audacity to flirt with his opponent, Jing Chengrui. Who knew what other lengths she would go through to embarrass him?

His anger was growing uncontrollable. As he hugged onto her tightly, he imagined the two of them would merge into one entity. This feeling left a soft feeling in his chest, making his entire body heat up with desire. Now, more than ever his feelings had grown too unmanageable for himself to endure.

With all her might, Mu Qingzhu struggled against Ruan Hanyu’s hold. But the more she wrestled him, the more agitated he grew.

With Mu Qingzhu in his arms, Ruan Hanyu walked with long strides to the car door, opened it, and placed her in the back seat of the luxurious Iron-Blood Hummer.

“Woman, you’re in deep waters now. You not only started a brawl, but you also flirted with my opponents in the company. Tell me your motive for coming to the Ruan family.” Ruan Hanyu lifted Mu Qingzhu’s chin with his hand, forcing her to look into his eyes. Bending down, he leveled himself closer to Mu Qingzhu. Their faces were inches apart and they both found themselves heatedly exchanging breaths.

“I don’t have a motive.” Due to their close proximity, Mu Qingzhu was forced to look directly into his eyes. She refuted coldly, “You’re the one who hired me.”

Her sparkling eyes were frank and open and seemed to go on to speak of her innocence.

Ruan Hanyu stared into her eyes. He found her eyes had an attractive quality to them that bewitched him. The longer they stared into each other's eyes, the more Ruan Hanyu felt moved by her.

A breeze from an open window stirred the contents of the car and her black hair cascaded over her body like a waterfall. She was shaking slightly. The beige leather cushion complemented her smooth jade-like skin.

Her beauty made Ruan Hanyu’s throat dry. He licked his lower lip, but this was of no use. All signs of rationality were thrown out the door. In a swift move, he took off his t-shirt with both hands, revealing his strong and powerful chest.

Bending down, he kissed her red lips. He no longer had any control over himself and lost himself in the moment. He no longer cared about anything else. All he cared about was losing himself to the soft sensations of her skin and lips. His pent-up anger and restlessness had been channeled into funneling his desires into that very kiss.

The act left Mu Qingzhu dizzy. She felt the heat emanating from his body. Suddenly the reality that they were no longer husband and wife took her away from that moment and her entire body shook from the realization.

No, he could not do this again!

It was like he was taking advantage of her! This was her bottom line! It was like he had no value for her dignity and was treating her like she was nothing.

Using all the strength she had in her body, she fought him off. Blood from her palm stained Ruan Hanyu’s skin. The red smeared on his flesh was exceptionally striking.

Their movements caused the car to sway. This caught the attention of the pedestrians passing by and they could only shake their heads in disapproval.

But they were already used to this. Couples kissing in cars was a regular thing.
