C9 Chapter 9

The last time he'd seen this woman in a restaurant, she'd shown intense hostility toward him.

At that time, he only felt that this woman should have intentionally used that scene to attract his attention, so after being stimulated by her with her sharp words, there was only one thought at that time: women nowadays really have endless ways of seducing men.

He didn't expect to see her at the bus stop a few days later.

I wanted to show up and surprise her with something unexpected, but as it turned out, she wasn't surprised or pleased, and what showed on her face was actually disgust for the disgusting food.

Especially since she had just publicly denounced him, and if he hadn't been the subject of the denial, he would have applauded her sharp and mean words.

As for why he looked like he hated his guts every time they met, he figured he'd find a reasonable answer one day.

A week later, back in New York from England, Liam walks to his private elevator while listening to Scarlett, who picked him up at the airport, fill him in on the big and small things that have happened in the company this week.

From start to finish, he was just listening.

It wasn't until Scarlett said that a long-haul flight to England had exploded a week ago that he finally stopped and gave Scarlett a surprised look.

"There's been an accident with Fargo's airplane?"

Scarlett was distraught, "Yeah, Liam, I was taken aback when I read that too, and if Evelyn hadn't gotten confused for a moment that day, it was inevitable that Liam would have been on that casualty list."

Even Benjamin was stunned by the news.

He and his boss had been so busy signing contracts with companies over in the U.K. all this time that they had ignored the social news reports.

If he and his boss did get on a long-haul plane that day, then ......

Cold sweat broke out violently on his back at the thought.

He was only 32 years old at the time, and it would have been a great tragedy if he had died in a plane crash for no reason.

Thinking about it, he suddenly wanted to thank the little assistant who had booked the wrong flight; if she hadn't been on the wrong airline, he and his own boss would probably have been on the death list.

Quickly coming back to his senses, Liam raised his eyebrows slightly, "The Evelyn you speak of is the assistant you recruited into the company two months ago?"

Scarlett hurriedly nodded, "But it's her, I won't hide it from Liam. evelyn works very seriously in the company on weekdays, no matter what kind of work her supervisor gives her, she can over-deliver in the shortest possible time.

In addition, although she is just a fresh graduate, many of her insights and ideas are very unique.Liam remember that employee appraisal program I mentioned to you before? That plan was drafted by Evelyn."

"Yes?" Liam responded tersely, then said, "Have that employee come to my office this afternoon."

"Uh ......"

Scarlett paused, "Didn't Liam order her fired a week ago?"

Liam's brow furrowed, and after a long moment, he remembered that he had indeed given such an order when he had gone to the airport a week ago in a fit of pique because he hadn't been able to catch his long-haul flight.

He nodded gently, and without another word to Scarlett, he stepped into the private elevator and headed back to his office.

Scarlett had every intention of putting in another good word for Evelyn, but she knew that once her boss refused to talk, it was proof that he didn't want to talk to anyone right now.

Couldn't help but let out a heartfelt sigh, thinking sadly that Evelyn really wasn't normally unlucky.

Upon returning to his office, instead of immediately asking his secretary to notify the company's executives of the shareholders' meeting, as he usually did, Liam opened the computer at his desk and clicked on the Employee Files folder.

When he searched for the name Evelyn, he saw an enlarged photo displayed on his computer page.

The young lady in the photo was probably in her early twenties, with long blonde hair, clean, soft features, and a tall, thin figure.

It was a much fresher look than the gussied-up female employees at the company, except that her brow seemed to exude a coldness and detachment that eluded him.

This Evelyn he seems to have seen somewhere.

On second thought, it seemed not so long ago that an ill-advised young lady had blocked his way at the entrance to the company elevator.

It should be her.

Unemployed Evelyn is introduced to waitressing at a French restaurant by her best friend Luna in order to avoid being unable to pay her rent and utility bills next month.

The pay is hourly, from 6 pm to 11 pm every day, and on top of that, she's got a couple of part-time jobs for herself.

Luna had made fun of her, saying that she didn't have a sick mom at home or a brother in school, so she didn't need to find herself so many jobs to suffer.

Evelyn didn't think much of it; even though she didn't have a sick mom or a brother who had to go to school, she would have had a hard time even making ends meet without a strong financial foundation.

Luna, who was originally interested in the owner of the Davis group, is quickly turned away after she learns why her best friend was fired.

It's just a matter of booking the wrong flight. Is it necessary to fire an employee for that little thing?

For this reason, Luna is very protective and scolds the big boss of the Davis group to Evelyn's face, and swears to God that when she has the chance to write Liam's story in the future, she'll make sure to include this part of his unsavory history.

Evelyn doesn't care about that.

To her excitement, the Fargo airplane flying from New York to London did have a mid-flight accident, just as she had seen in her past life, and the crash caused considerable damage and loss to Fargo.

Except, Liam wasn't on the list of deaths in this life, so media coverage of the matter was minimal, and as for Liam and the davis group, they were temporarily freed from the crisis of their previous life.

She wondered if she had really made an impact on her life by trampling on history in this way.

After all, every era has a historical trajectory that people must follow, and now she's insisting on tampering with it, and she doesn't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing.

But on second thought, since God had given her the opportunity to live seven years over again, did this mean that everything that happened was God's plan?

The plane crash was something Evelyn quickly forgot.

The French restaurant where she currently works part-time is called Seine, which has locations around the world in the form of a chain.

The restaurant is busiest between 8 pm and 10 pm.

Evelyn is in uniform and busy in the dining room, where beautiful music is playing.

At that moment, a considerable commotion came from the doorway.

She hadn't been in much of a mood to watch, but the guest the restaurant manager was looking at with a big smile on his face seemed to be coming from a good place.

The other party stood casually in a well-tailored dark suit, instantly attracting the envious gazes of countless dining guests.

Upon closer inspection, she recognized the man who had been carefully entertained by the manager to the VIP table.

Liam, her former boss and the man who turned her from a white-collar worker blowing cold air in an office building to a waitress in a French restaurant.

The Seine has four VIP seats, which, according to the clerk, were permanently chartered by several powerful people as early as the restaurant's inception.

I didn't realize Liam actually took up a quarter of that special seat.
