C12 Lu Zhining's Condition

With steely determination, Lu Zhining walked briskly into the main building with only one intention in mind—to find Lu Fengting. Where was that man? His eyes swept across the room until he found the man leaned back on the couch right in the middle of the living room. With a glass of red wine held delicately in between his fingers, it seemed like the man was deep in reverie. Hastily, Lu Zhining walked over and took a seat next to the man. "I have something to tell you." The boy wasted no time with pleasantries and went straight to the point.

"What is it?" Lu Zhining's straightforwardness piqued his interest. Glancing at the boy, he put down the red wine glass that he was twirling in between his fingers.

"Teacher Xia doesn't want to stay anymore. " Lu Zhining said nervously, hoping that he would do something about it.

"Oh." Lu Fengting responded simply. He had never cared much about the woman anyway—it didn't matter to him whether she stayed or left.

Unsatisfied with the lack of response, Lu Zhining tried to urge him further. "Your own wife is going to run away. What kind of response is this?!"

"What about it?" Lu Fengting responded harshly. With his hands spread, he said, "Her value depended entirely on you. Now that your birthday wish list has been fulfilled, she is of no use to me now. I'm free to dispose of her as I like."

Dumbfounded by the merciless response, Lu Zhining could only stare helplessly at his father's domineering figure. "It seems I've forgotten how heartless you can be."

Lu Fengting picked up the red wine glass and took another sip. It was clear he was unaffected by his son's harsh words. "So, you stayed up all night just to tell me that I'm heartless?" He scoffed.

In response, Lu Zhining clenched his hands into fists as his eyes narrowed threateningly. Although he was still young, the fury and hatred in his eyes reflected a maturity that made him seem much older than he actually was. Lu Zhining narrowed his eyes. "You knew. You knew I would come to find you, so you waited here like a ghost." He spat out.

"Enough of this. Tell me your condition so that we can make a deal." Having had enough of exchanging harsh words, Lu Zhining waved his hand dismissively to get to his point.

"Condition? What condition?" Lu Fengting frowned in confusion.

"Don't play dumb with me. I may be young, but you can't fool me." Lu Zhining said. "What is your condition for Teacher Xia to stay here?"

"You... You little devil! How dare you try to bring up conditions with me! Can you even pay the price for this?!" Lu Fengting's grip on his wine glass tightened as he glared at the scheming boy in front of him.

With a defiant pout on his face, he spoke confidently, "I'm willing to pay any price for Teacher Xia."

Lu Fengting's dark and deep eyes glared at the young boy who refused to back down. Somewhat speechless, he said, "Since when did you learn to talk so big?"

"Stop looking down on me. " Lu Zhining's face was red with anger. He knew that the man didn't take him seriously at all! "You just need to state your conditions. If I don't agree... then...I'm not a man!"

"Fine. Then you're not allowed to ever ask me anything about your mother in the future. " Lu Fengting challenged him.

"I. . . "

Astounded by Lu Fengting's response, he was unable to speak.

He had never expected Lu Fengting to propose such a heartless condition.

The distraught expression on Lu Zhining's face had Lu Fengting smirking in satisfaction. This is what you get for testing me! "I'll give you a chance to go back on your word. Since you're no longer a man, I've already thought of a girl's name for you. How about Lu Xiaojuan?" Lu Fengting taunted. His lips were curved up into a twisted smirk.

The man's confident smirk almost had Lu Zhining lashing out at him. Struggling to control himself, he clenched his fists tightly. "I promise you I won't." He gritted his teeth in determination.

"You've made up your mind already?" Lu Fengting couldn't conceal his surprise as his thick eyebrows shot up.

"Yes. I'll never ask about my mother ever again."Lu Zhining said assertively before standing up to leave. "Now don't forget your promise. Make Teacher Xia stay with me. "

With that, the young boy stomped off angrily. As he watched Lu Zhining's tiny figure retreat, Lu Fengting was lost in thought before coming back to his senses. He raised his wine glass to eye level and muttered to himself, "His back looks like yours, especially when he's angry. "

After the boy left, Qian Feng emerged from the corner of the living room and walked out to address Lu Fengting. While bending over to meet the other man's gaze, he spoke carefully. "Mr Lu, are you sure this is okay? I'm afraid that the more you try to hide it, the more curious the young master will be about it."

Lu Fengting shook his head decisively, seemingly certain. "No, I'm sure Xia Yun will slowly fill the void in his heart."

"But still... "

"Qian Feng!"

Lu Fengting raised his voice and his tone became much more serious. "Why do you have so much to say today? Stop talking unless you don't want this job anymore!"

Startled by the sudden outburst, Qian Feng quickly apologised. "Sorry, Mr Lu. "

Lu Fengting frowned in response and said, "Get lost."

"Yes. " Qian Feng responded obediently and hastily took his leave.

Now all alone in the living room, Lu Fengting could finally contemplate in peace. With his wine glass in one hand, he sauntered over to the wide French window. The breathtaking scenery outside the window was the least of his concerns as he murmured to himself. "I don't care whether it's right or wrong. This time, I'll never regret it."
