C2 Is This A Threat?

Xia Yun could not suppress the uneasy feeling that was causing her a lot of discomfort along the way. The images of killing and snatching organs kept flashing in her mind. It was only once the car stopped was she able to regain her senses. She turned her head to see with great shock three big words that appeared in front of her eyes.

Civil Affairs Bureau!

What’s the reason behind them bringing her to the Civil Affairs Bureau?

Qian Feng walked over and greeted her with a smile on his face. “Miss Xia, we have arrived. Remove the tape from Miss Xia’s mouth.”

After the tape was removed, Xia Yun hurriedly asked, “What is it that you want? Why did you bring me here to the Civil Affairs Bureau?”

“Because Mr. Lu wants to obtain a marriage license with you today,” Qian Feng said this breezily.

“Obtain a marriage license?”

Xia Yun’s eyes widened out of surprise. Was this some kind of joke? In this era, was there still such a thing as forcing a common woman into marriage?

“Right.”

Qian Feng continued to smile and nod his head. “Miss Xia, you should feel honored that Mr. Lu picked you.” His tone was matter of fact. There were countless women everywhere who could only dream of marrying Mr. Lu one day.

“Miss Xia, after we enter the Civil Affairs Bureau building later, I advise you to not resist pointlessly.” Qian Feng narrowed his eyes at her, looking like an old fox who had lived through a few thousand years. After taking out his phone and placing it in front of Xia Yun, he smiled and said, “Miss Xia, please take this moment to look at this child in the video.”

Xia Yun was still feeling stunned when she looked at the screen. On the screen, she could see the crying face of a child.

This was one of her class one students, Ning.

When she did the roll call earlier, she realized Ning was absent from kindergarten today. But didn’t the headmaster say something along the lines that Ning had provided his leave earlier that day?

Ning hardly spoke when he transferred to the kindergarten class. He mostly kept to himself, rarely communicating with others. Though he would listen to Xia Yun’s instructions and do as he was told, his expressions and words showed no interest in having interactions with anyone else at all.

Most of the time, Ning would sit at his table quietly, his face bearing the type of melancholy beyond his years. He stood out from the lively and naive children who surrounded him.

At first, Ning’s behavior left Xia Yun dumbfounded. How could a five-year-old child turn out this way? But after a while, Xia Yun realized that Ning’s activities were all being received by the nanny. In the past few months since school started, Xia Yun had never caught sight of Ning’s parents once. They even opted out of the parent-teacher conference, which was solely attended by the nanny on their behalf.

Curious about Ning’s predicament, there were a few times Xia Yun probed Ning for information about his parents. However, this proved fruitless. The child only shook his head at her inquires, not saying a word.

After that, Xia Yun began to go out of her way to pay attention to Ning. She took care of him in every aspect available, taking time to urge him to play with other children and paying attention to his every need.

Xia Yun had such a motherly nature that soon she began to regard Ning as her own son from the bottom of her heart.

Such hard work did not go unrewarded. Just last month, Ning began to smile more. His frosty behavior also changed, showing more warmth in front of Xia Yun.

Xia Yun was naturally overjoyed when she saw Ning’s transformation.

With horror, she could only watch as Qian Feng smiled and pressed the play button.

The video immediately started playing.

Ning’s screams for help pierced through Xia Yun’s thoughts.

In the corner of a dark room, she could make out Ning’s curled form. Tears were rolling down his face uncontrollably. His screams were filled with fear, “Teacher Xia, save me, save me!”

After Xia Yun had finished watching the entire ten seconds of the video, her body was already drenched in cold sweat and she was trembling slightly.

Then Xia Yun turned to stare at Qian Feng. In her clear eyes was a look full of hatred. She bit down on her red lips and clearly stated her words one by one, “If you touch a hair on his head, my days of haunting you will never end even if I am a ghost.”

At that moment, Qian Feng froze. The look of determination in Xia Yun’s eyes was unmistakable. The type of resoluteness had not made itself known when she was being tied up in the car just now.

This woman really treasured her students.

Qian Feng calmed himself down and revealed another smile. He said, “If you want this child to be delivered back to his parents safe and sound, it’s all very simple. Cooperate fully with everything that Mr. Lu has arranged.”

Xia Yun bit on her lower lip with her teeth. Her bite was hard enough to draw blood.

After giving this some thought, she nodded her head and said, “This I promise you.” In order to ensure Ning’s safety, she was left with no other choices.
