C18 How Much Money Do You Worth?

A series of questions bubbled up in Wen Mian's mind, and before she knew it, she was lost in memories related to Gu Zhijian. Absentmindedly, her fingers dialed his number, and by the time Wen Mian realized it, the call had already connected.

"Hello? Mian..." Gu Zhijian's voice came through the receiver, gentle and calm as always.

Hearing that familiar voice made Wen Mian's heart skip a beat, and for a moment, she didn't know what to say. She hadn't meant to call him, so she hadn't prepared a response.

"Mian? Are you there?"

After a pause, Gu Zhijian asked softly, "Are you at work now? I was thinking of coming to see you, I..."

Before Gu Zhijian could finish, Wen Mian hung up the phone. It wasn't that she didn't want to talk to him, but rather that someone had appeared in her office without her noticing. The person was leaning casually against her desk, watching her with deep, penetrating eyes.

Wen Mian looked up, displeased, at Yih Qianbo. "When did you get here?"

"What were you thinking about so intently that you didn't even notice someone else in the room?" Yih Qianbo's eyes were deep and complex.

Wen Mian took a breath, quickly adjusted her demeanor, and smiled. "I'm sorry, Director Yih, you startled me just now. My reaction was a bit off. Please forgive me."

She was probably so engrossed that she didn't realize someone had come in. She had no idea how long Yih Qianbo had been standing there. Had he been there even before she returned?

"That's a bad habit," Yih Qianbo remarked with an air of authority. "You need to change it. I don't want you to be like this every time we're together, like a soulless doll."

Wen Mian's face, once so lively when they first met, had been unpredictable these past few days. Every time he saw her, there was always a moment when she seemed lost in thought.

Yih Qianbo hated the feeling of being ignored by this woman. It was truly unpleasant.

"I'll try my best," Wen Mian replied with her usual poised smile.

Yih Qianbo's dark eyes flashed as he began to address the situation. "You said you'd come back to find me after you were done, but you broke your promise."

"I... wasn't feeling well and came back to rest for a bit. I was worried my condition might ruin your experience. The Dark Night Royal Palace prides itself on offering the best service, and we can't afford to neglect our guests," Wen Mian said in a formal tone after a brief pause.

"Sell?" Yih Qianbo walked over to Wen Mian and effortlessly lifted her from the chair. "So, Little Sheep, how much are you worth?"

Wen Mian was momentarily taken aback, then smiled softly. "You're joking, Director Yih. You haven't been drinking again, have you?"

"Don't call me Director Yih; this is my last warning." Yih Qianbo firmly wrapped his arm around Wen Mian's waist, his lips crashing onto hers with intensity. He continued, "If it happens again, I'll strip you right here."

Wen Mian's breath caught, her heart skipping a beat. She knew Yih Qianbo was a brazen and arrogant man, but she hadn't expected him to speak so boldly, regardless of the setting.

This man... he doesn't seem like a... gentleman.

"So, what should I call you? You're so high and mighty, out of reach. Calling you by your name might not be appropriate, right? It could cause some gossip," Wen Mian maintained her smile, though her thoughts were racing.

"Call me 'husband,'" Yih Qianbo suddenly said coldly.

Husband?!

Wen Mian stared at Yih Qianbo in shock, dumbfounded. Was this his usual trick? Did he say this to every woman?

He must have countless wives by now.

As she mused to herself, Yih Qianbo let out a light scoff, a smirk of disdain playing on his handsome face. "I didn't mean now. I meant eventually, you'll call me that."

"I'll stick with Third Young Master," Wen Mian managed to say, finally finding her voice.

She thought, whether sooner or later, she'd never have the chance to call him husband. She had no intention of reaching for something so unattainable.

"Boss, Miss Lo is here to see you." The office door was slightly ajar. Lu Yuan hesitated for a moment before knocking, not daring to step inside. "She said..."

"What did she say?" Yih Qianbo released Wen Mian and blocked Lu Yuan's view with a cold glance.

Lu Yuan suppressed a shiver and bravely continued, "She wants to discuss the wedding details with you..."

"Get out." Yih Qianbo dismissed him with an icy tone, not even blinking.

"Alright." Lu Yuan nodded, swiftly closing the door behind him and wiping the sweat from his forehead. He knew he shouldn't have asked, but Lo Yuvyang was Yih Qianbo's fiancée in name, potentially the future lady of the house. He couldn't just ignore her.

"So, you have a fiancée," Wen Mian remarked with a peculiar tone, glancing at Yih Qianbo. "I think we should keep our distance. I don't want any misunderstandings with the future Mrs. Yih."

Now that she's come looking, if she finds out about this connection with Yih Qianbo...

She might come and cause trouble at the Dark Night Royal Palace.

Wen Mian never wanted to stir up drama or bring trouble to the Dark Night Royal Palace. This was Mo Qian's place, and she was here to manage it, not to cause chaos.

"That woman was chosen by my old man. If he wants to marry her, let him," Yih Qianbo said, casting a dark glance at Wen Mian. "She's not my wife and never will be."

"But she's here to see you, wanting to discuss wedding details. She's clearly serious about marrying you," Wen Mian teased with a light laugh. "Isn't it a bit rude to be so dismissive?"

"Little Sheep, you're talking too much. Do you want me to shut you up right now?" Yih Qianbo narrowed his eyes, glaring at Wen Mian.

"Why are you so upset? I'm just stating the facts," Wen Mian mumbled, pouting slightly.

But soon, Yih Qianbo made good on his threat, silencing Wen Mian so she couldn't say another word.

As Lo Yuvyang opened the door, she was greeted by the sight of her fiancé, Yih Qianbo, embracing and kissing another woman.

"What are you two doing?" she exclaimed, her purse dropping to the floor in shock, her eyes and mouth wide open.

"Miss Lo!" Lu Yuan hurried in, quickly stepping in front of Lo Yuvyang to block her view. "Miss Lo, let me arrange for someone to take you home."

Just as he heard Lo Yuvyang coming upstairs, Lu Yuan broke into a cold sweat. He had just stepped out to arrange for her departure, only to have her find him here. Lu Yuan silently cursed himself for the oversight. Now that she had seen the Boss with another woman, who knew what kind of commotion she would stir up next.
