C6 Chapter Six

I found myself smiling and remembering my friend's words and the sizzling conversations we always had. I always had a great laugh whenever she came back to me narrating how she met a jerk through the dating app.

But, typical of her, she would still try on and on, never giving up.

Maybe I should give it a try, I reasoned.

It was just an app and nothing too serious. A feeling of excitement bubbled up inside of me.

I will set up my profile very soon ,I promised myself.

Few hours later, the meeting ended, some staffs flickered into the hallway,

My table was positioned at the reception spot where I could see everyone that walked in.

Hey Charl, I heard someone call my name nearby,one of the employees mentioned my name as he approached my table. From the tag on his shirt, I could tell he was heading a strong office in the company.

I looked at him stunned, Charl?

How did he know my name? I whispered to myself.

Only close friends call me that, I said to him.

My bad, he replied, looking a bit sheepish, Miss Charlotte, you look real pretty, he said , smiling faintly, extending his hand towards me.

I was caught off guard by his sudden friendliness, wondering if everyone in the company was this friendly.It was Tricia earlier, now him. I tried to be nice and I returned the gestures.

Do you mind joining me for lunch?

Oaks Haven has a restaurant and cafe’ right by the showroom.

I stared at him for a few seconds before replying,No , I will pass.

My stomach actually craved a good meal but I wasn't in the mood to be around too many people,at least not now.

Ouch,he responded with his hand on his chest, like he was hurt by my response.

Meanwhile, I am Mark.

Nice meeting you, Mark, I replied trying to be nicer this time.

Nice meeting you too, Charlotte, I truly understand, but we could have lunch some other time, we can also be friends too.

Alright Mark , friends, I hesitated.

Good, “ See you around”,he said, his smile broadening a bit as he walked to the door to meet some other staff who had been waiting for him while he was conversing with me.

You were incredible today Rick, Rhoda said as she walked into his office.

Rick John read the look on her face, she wanted to be in his arms.

Just then,a number started calling Rick's phone, the name Steph appeared on the screen and without hesitation, Rhoda reached for the phone and pressed the end button , and placed the phone back on the table.

Rick frowned, You know that was an important call, that was my mom's personal assistant calling.

Steph was almost a member of the John's family, she was a girl Rick's mom adopted at a very tender age and works personally with Rick's mom.

Family can wait my love, she blew some air into his ears and caressed his neck tentatively till he started wanting her.

He sucked her lips like a hungry lion and ignored the phone that kept on ringing.

The office was filled with the aura of their emotions.

A few minutes later, Rhoda stopped the kissing abruptly and started adjusting her skirt again.

Rick gave a familiar frown,” Are you gonna leave me halfway again?

She smiled wickedly, No baby, we have all night to ourselves, she said and pulled the chair in front of his table.

But somewhere in Rick's mind, he had this unfamiliar feeling of not doing the right thing with Rhoda, a feeling he had never experienced before with her or other women.He wondered if it was because he didn't speak with Steph when she called, he was certain she had a message from his mom.Or could this feeling of sudden guilt spring up from something else?
