C18 Angry Reply to the Aunt 2

Mu Yunhua touched her nose, feeling a wave of irritation at Concubine Wan's obvious contempt. It was truly exasperating!

Concubine Wan, unbothered by a harmless dog, furrowed her brow and whispered a reprimand to her servants, "A person has died right at our doorstep, and you just stand there doing nothing? Not even bothering to move the body? What kind of scene does that set for those passing by?"

"Madam, it's not that we don't want to move him; it's that Mu Yunhua won't let us," one of the servants hastily replied.

Mu Yunhua wouldn't allow them to move the body?

Concubine Wan let out a scoff filled with mockery. Who did that little upstart think she was? Since when did her word carry weight in Mu's Mansion? When did she start making the decisions here?

Another servant looked like they had something to say, but Concubine Wan had no interest in listening and made her way straight to Mu Yunhua.

"Hua Er, even if you're upset with the Mu family, it's not right to take it out on a servant. By not letting the staff move him for treatment... we're talking about a human life here, not some dead pet from your garden. If he dies, won't you feel any pang of conscience?"

Concubine Wan approached with a face full of feigned sincerity, bombarding Mu Yunhua with accusations. The spectators around Mu's Mansion were stunned, their looks quickly turning to ones of disdain and aggression directed at Mu Yunhua.

A glint of satisfaction flashed in Concubine Wan's eyes as she signaled for action. "Hurry, don't listen to Hua Er. Move him immediately and be careful with his treatment."

Mu Yunhua wasn't thrown off by Concubine Wan's attempt to get the upper hand; she was just bewildered. Who was being called 'Hua Er'?

Her? Since when had she and Concubine Wan been on such intimate terms to warrant such a sticky-sweet nickname?

The nerve was simply unbelievable!

Watching the servants advance to carry away the bodyguard, Mu Yunhua quickly raised her hand. "Wait a moment, who told you to move him? Did you forget what I just told you? Stand down."

She couldn't help but wonder if getting closer was just a way to compete with the injured for fresh air.

The servants halted, caught in a moment of indecision, not daring to touch the bodyguard in the second courtyard. They looked back and forth between Mu Yunhua and Concubine Wan, unsure of whose orders to follow. What were they to do now?

Concubine Wan could hardly believe that her servants had actually stopped in their tracks because of something Mu Yunhua had said. It was both astonishing and infuriating. Who did they really listen to in this mansion? Since when had her commands carried so little weight?

They were completely incompetent!

Even as she mentally lambasted the servants, Concubine Wan's face was the picture of sorrow and empathy. She looked at Mu Yunhua with eyes that plainly showed her disapproval. "Hua'er, we're talking about a human life here. Do you have any idea what you're doing?"

"Of course, I do," Mu Yunhua responded without hesitation, turning the question back on Concubine Wan. "The real question is, do you understand what you're doing?"

Was this young upstart really questioning her, Li Wan? Did she presume to instruct her on right and wrong?
