C12 Passed Out.

On their way to David’s villa, he lit a cigarette and took a long drag from it. He then closed his eyes as he leaned against the comfortable leather seat and exhaled the smoke.

“Open the windows,” he ordered when he noticed that the car started feeling stuffy. Felix opened the windows and continued to drive silently.

He had gotten out of the car to give them privacy once he stopped at Iris’s house. But the last words she said to David after getting out of the car would give someone the illusion that David had taken advantage of her.

David lit another cigarette after extinguishing the one he had finished. So much was going through his head and he could not organize it.

It would be bad if he ended up using the girl just because it has been a while for him and she just happened to be willing. She was too inexperienced to go through something like that.

He was even thinking of ignoring her and not looking for her. To let her go on with her life and forgetting about him. But he remembered her telling him not to ignore her.

It had been so long since he had been in any sort of relationship with a woman. He had an excuse when his wife was alive, now that she was dead, these were situations that he was going to have to get used to facing.

“Boss, we’ve arrived,” Felix said after some hesitation. David looked at him for a few seconds before opening the car door and getting out of the car. As he took a step towards his villa, he almost stumbled onto the ground. It just proved just how drunk he actually was compared to the facade he was putting up earlier.

He was hit with a wave of dizziness when he walked into the house and fell onto the couch and fell asleep right where he was. When Iris called him, he missed it because he was passed out, but she had already misunderstood the silence.

Iris glared at her phone before shoving it under her pillows and turning off the lamp on her bedside table. As she drunkenly stewed in her anger, she finally fell asleep.

When she woke up, it was already late morning, almost noon. Iris freshened up and went to her university with not just a hangover, but also a very complicated mood.

She dazedly looked at their lecturer and couldn’t pay attention the whole time. Lana would give her worried looks, but she couldn’t ask her about what was going on until later.

“What’s wrong with you?” Lana asked at the first chance she had after their lessons.

“It’s nothing, I have to go to the theatre,” Iris said as she sulkily walked towards the hall.

“Something’s wrong with you. Is it about Mr. Lyons?” Lana asked, and Iris briefly froze in her steps. She acted very outrageously. It would have been alright if he had picked up her call, she could have borne with it. But now she was just confused about where to go from where she was.

“Yesterday we… I won’t be able to see him for a while,” Iris said. She didn’t think it was appropriate to talk about what happened the previous day. Especially since both of them had been drunk. Lana looked at her with eyes filled with concern.

Even though she wanted to know what she was going to say, she would not force it out of Iris. It looked like she was still coming to terms with what had happened herself.

Iris went to the theatre and sat at the front row and waited for the lecturer who was going to direct the play. Her other classmates arrived in twos and threes and sat to wait for him as well. As she was spacing out, someone came to sit next to her. She did not pay them any mind and only turned to look at them when they greeted her.

“Hi,” the boy said with a bright smile.

“Hello,” Iris replied with a polite smile before getting lost in her thoughts once more.

Who did not know of Iris in their university? Wasn’t she one of the most attractive students on campus? No, she was the most attractive one, and everyone knew it.

The only reason she had little friends was because she was always so busy it was rare to even see her shadow. So it can be imagined how excited the male cast to the play was when they heard that she would be taking part this time.

Soon the ‘director’ arrived and started briefing them on the outline of the play as he distributed the script. When he handed Iris her script, he smiled in satisfaction and Iris only smiled politely at him as she took it from him.

“I’m happy you could join us this time Iris, I have very high expectations,” he said and moved on to distribute the scripts for the other characters.

Iris sighed as she opened the thick stack of papers and roughly went through the first page. This is why the lead had been at the bottom of her list. She was going to have to be practising every day.

As she turned the pages of the long script, she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. She pulled it out and checked who was calling and almost jumped off her seat.

“Can I take this call? It’s urgent,” Iris said to her professor, and he nodded before she dashed to a dark corner of the theatre and picked up the call. There was a moment of silence before David’s voice was heard.

“Hello?” he said when he didn’t hear her say anything.

“Hi,” Iris answered, trying not to sound too excited.

“I saw your missed call when I woke up, I fell asleep early last night,” he explained, and finally a beautiful smile appeared on Iris’ face. He would never admit that he had been passed out drunk.

“I thought you were avoiding me,” Iris said, and David paused for a bit. He had just gotten out of his shower when he picked up his phone and saw her missed call. He thought about not getting back to her, but ended up calling her anyway.

“I’m not,” he answered as he sat on his bed and stared at the dark tv screen in front of him.

“Mmmh, I’ll call you a bit later, I’m at a meeting discussing a script,” Iris explained.

“Mmmh,” David answered and hang up. There was a visible improvement in her mood when she joined the rest of her group. She even felt a bit more enthusiastic toward the play.
