C163 Revisiting the Old Place
"No," Yee Fann said, his voice rising in excitement. "I won't allow you to give up."
Qin Shu chuckled, "Heh, your words are ridiculous. Why won't you allow me to give up?"
"I know I don't have the right to say that, or to interfere with any of your decisions. Why don't you come with me somewhere before you give up, and then if you still can't accept me, I... I won't bother you again." Yee Fann seemed to have made up his mind when he said the last sentence.
"I won't go. No matter where you take me, I won't change my mind. So, don't waste your time thinking about it. From now on, we won't have anything to do with each other. It will be the best position for us." Qin Shu didn't have the mood to talk to Yee Fann anymore and hung up the phone.
Qin Shu laid on the bed and held his phone. He watched the screen gradually darken and closed his eyes.
"Knock, knock, knock."
Just as he immersed himself in darkness, Qin Shu heard a knock on the door.
The person who came was probably not Faang Su. He had a key, so maybe it was the trainee he had trained with before. Qin Shu did not want to open the door. He was not in the mood to listen to their gossip right now.
Since Qin Shu did not open the door, the person outside knocked twice more. Seeing that no one came to answer the door, he decided to let it go.
Just when he thought he could finally be quiet for a while, his phone rang again.
It was still the same number.
He hung up.
A few seconds later, a text message notification sounded. Yee Fann sent him a text message. "I'm at the entrance of your dormitory. Come out for a while."
The person who knocked on the door turned out to be Yee Fann.
"I'm not in the dormitory." After replying, Qin Shu threw his phone to the side.
"I know you're here. I saw you enter the company. I heard my phone ringing outside the door." Yee Fann knew Qin Shu was there, so he came over.
Qin Shu finally got up from the bed. It seemed that this person was determined. If he didn't go this time, he would probably be annoyed by him for the whole day.
Qin Shu opened the door and looked at the happy Yee Fann. He didn't know what to say or what expression to make. Even though he rejected Yee Fann every way he could, it didn't change the fact that he liked Yee Fann. When Yee Fann met him, Yee Fann always had an impatient look on his face. Now that Yee Fann was happy for him, it was impossible to say that he wasn't shaken. It was because of this that he was afraid that he would fall into the trap again and be unable to pull himself out.
"Come with me." Yee Fann grabbed Qin Shu's arm and pulled him out of the room.
"Where are you taking me?" Qin Shu closed the door and freed his other hand from Yee Fann's grasp.
Yee Fann turned around and looked at him. "You'll know when you get there."
Yee Fann wanted to pull Qin Shu's arm again, but he saw him shrink back. "Stop the car and follow me."
It was also at this moment that he saw Qin Shu's haggard face and dark circles under his eyes. He did not need to think to know what caused it. It seemed that what he said that day had frightened him and troubled Qin Shu.
Yee Fann walked in front while Qin Shu followed behind him in silence. The two of them entered the elevator one after another and got out after they went downstairs.
Even after getting into the car, Qin Shu deliberately kept a distance from him. He sat in the back of the car and stared at the tall buildings that kept passing by outside the car window.
After driving for half an hour or so, Qin Shu found the surroundings familiar. When he saw the school gate of No. 13 High School, he would have jumped out of his seat if he hadn't been wearing his seat belt.
Yee Fann looked at Qin Shu's reaction in the rearview mirror and smiled.
The car did not stop at the school gate. Instead, it went around the back of the school and stopped in front of a small shop.
Qin Shu was familiar with this place.
This was the shortcut for Qin Shu to go home when he was still in school. Yee Fann used to send him home every afternoon. When Yee Fann was in his third year of high school, he would bring Qin Shu this way if he encountered a situation where he had to go back to the classroom early for the test at night. At that time, Yee Fann often took the test at night, so he often took this route. The two of them often patronized this small shop, and Yee Fann always bought snacks for Qin Shu here.
"You have already..." Qin Shu was a little surprised. Yee Fann had brought him here. It seemed that he recognized him.
Yee Fann unbuckled his seatbelt and smiled at him. Then, he put on his sunglasses and hat and said, "Get out of the car, Qin Fen."
The word Qin Fen made Qin Shu feel complicated. He was so nervous that he didn't know what to do.
Finally, Yee Fann got out of the car and opened the door for him. He unbuckled his seat belt and pulled him out of the car.
Seven or eight years had passed, but the shopkeeper of the shop hadn't changed. He was still the same old woman.
On the shelves, the snacks that had been popular in the past had been replaced by new ones. However, the packaging was different. Yee Fann pulled Qin Shu's arm and walked through the small shop. He quickly picked out a few snacks that Qin Shu used to like.
Potato chips, spicy sticks, lollipops, and a bottle of yogurt.
"Auntie, how much is this?" Yee Fann took the snacks to the counter and paid.
The woman was surprised when she saw the two of them. The young man in sunglasses and a hat was holding the hand of a familiar-looking young man. He hadn't let go of them since they entered the shop.
Under the aunt's surprised gaze, Yee Fann paid the bill, stuffed the bag of snacks into Qin Shu's hand, and pulled him out of the shop.
Instead of getting into the car with his men, he stepped onto the path beside the Little Merchandize Shop.
"When did you know I was Qin Fen?" Qin Shu held the shopping bag tightly in one hand. He had already given up struggling.
Yee Fann didn't answer him.
Seeing that he didn't answer, Qin Shu didn't force him. "Where else do you want to take me?"
"I'll take you to the forest to see some mushrooms," Yee Fann said as he pulled Yee Fann along and quickened his pace.
A few minutes later they came to the grove they used to pass, which had been invaded over the years by the expansion of the school. It used to take them two or three minutes to walk through it from the back gate, but now they could see it from a short distance away.
The trees in the woods had grown taller, but they were no longer as dark and damp as they used to be, and there were no mushrooms on the ground.
However, the place still felt familiar to them.
Yee Fann took the bag of snacks from Qin Shu's hand. He took out a lollipop, unwrapped it, and handed it to Qin Shu's mouth.
Qin Shu opened his mouth naturally and put the sweet-smelling lollipop in his mouth. Once, he was so clumsy that he couldn't even peel off the wrapper of the lollipop. Yee Fann always helped him and fed him.
