C19 He Was Allergic to the Jasmine Flower!
"Really? You want me to leave?" Mo Lengxi paused his actions, the furrow in his brow deepening.
"No, no, of course not! Having you here is a blessing. I just worry about your busy schedule, that's all," Lin Yueyue replied with a forced laugh, knowing full well how fake her smile was.
Mo Lengxi shot her a cold glance, as if he could see right through her. "You don't need to worry about that. Just focus on getting better and don't think about things you shouldn't." With that, he sliced into an apple with a swift motion.
Watching him, Lin Yueyue shivered involuntarily, convinced that if she tried to escape, she'd end up like that apple in his hands.
"So... do you like flowers?" she asked, trying to change the subject.
Mo Lengxi gave her a puzzled look. "Why do you ask?"
"Oh, it's nothing. I noticed your garden is full of flowers when I was out there, so I thought maybe you really liked them."
"My mother likes flowers." His expression shifted slightly, his deep eyes hinting at something unspoken.
His mother...?
Though his temperament was a bit odd, he was undeniably handsome. Imagining the kind of woman who could have such a son, she figured his mother must be beautiful too. But why did his eyes seem so... gloomy when he mentioned her?
"I guess your mother doesn't like jasmine flowers?"
"Hmm?"
"Isn't that right? Your garden has every kind of flower except jasmine. I was curious about that when I was tending to the flowers. It's like a sea of blooms, but no jasmine. I wondered if you were like some kind of tyrant who decided to get rid of all the jasmine, just like that story about the emperor and the peonies."
"I'm allergic to jasmine," Mo Lengxi replied, his cold eyes fixed intently on her. He added with a hint of meaning, "Didn't you know?"
"Hmm?"
Why was he asking her this? They had only just met; how could she possibly know he was allergic to jasmine?
But then...
Thinking back, five years ago, when she visited Mo Jingxuan's house, the place was filled with the scent of jasmine the moment she walked in. She had always wondered why there would be jasmine there since Mo Jingxuan hated flowers.
"What are you thinking about?" Mo Lengxi asked playfully, leaning in closer when he noticed Lin Yueyue lost in thought.
"Uh... nothing, really..."
"Excuse me," a clear voice interrupted as a nurse in white entered the room. "Mr. Mo, I need to examine Miss Lin, so I'll have to ask you to step out for a moment."
"Alright, I understand," Mo Lengxi replied, his expression turning serious as he nodded and left the room.
"Miss Lin, you have some sunburn, so I'll apply some ointment for you."
"Okay," Lin Yueyue agreed, lying down on the hospital bed, waiting for the nurse to apply the medication.
"You're really lucky, Miss Lin, to have a man like Mr. Mo as your boyfriend. We can't help but be envious," the nurse chatted casually while applying the ointment.
Lin Yueyue could only manage a wry smile. Envious? They wouldn't be if they knew the whole story. Besides, that guy isn't even her boyfriend.
As she was thinking this, the nurse continued, "You were unconscious at the time, but Mr. Mo personally carried you in and stayed at the hospital until you woke up. Men like that are rare, so you should really appreciate him."
"Heh! Heh! Make the most of it? If it weren't for that man, would she be in the hospital?"
Yueyue couldn't be bothered to explain anything, so she just went along with it, saying, "Yeah, yeah, I guess I'm just lucky." She really wished she could do without this kind of 'luck!'
"Miss Lin, I wish you a speedy recovery. I'll be heading out now." After applying the medication, the nurse respectfully left the room.
