C7 Meeting Mo Jingxuan Again!
"No—" A choked voice escaped, tears flooding Lin Yueyue's eyes.
*Knock, knock, knock...*
Just as the tension reached its peak, a knock on the door shattered the charged atmosphere.
"What is it?"
"Sir, Mr. Fernande needs to discuss something important with you."
"Damn it, why now...!" Mo Lengxi muttered under his breath, casting a cold glance at the figure beneath him before striding toward the door.
"Keep an eye on the woman inside. If she disappears, you know the consequences."
"Yes, sir..." The guard replied, and the iron door was locked once more.
"Who is this man...?" Lin Yueyue stared helplessly at the ceiling, puzzled by how she got tangled in this mess as soon as she returned home. If she'd known, she might have chosen not to come back.
But...
Could she hide forever?
"Mo Jingxuan, you're my downfall. You left without a care, leaving me with this mess."
No! She couldn't just sit and wait for doom. She refused to believe Mo's mother's influence was truly unstoppable.
Lin Yueyue gritted her teeth, springing to her feet. Her eyes scanned the opulent living room, finally landing on a floor-to-ceiling window...
"Got it!"
...
On the bustling asphalt road, Lin Yueyue, disheveled, flagged down a cab. It had taken a lot of effort to escape the Mo family by jumping out a window. Though her current state was embarrassing, it was better than staying in that lion's den.
"Miss, where to?!" After a long wait, a cab finally stopped in front of her.
"Hua Ming Street." She hesitated before recalling an address buried deep in her memory.
That was her home, but she hadn't been back in five years. She wondered how her dad was doing now, if he was still so caught up in work that he neglected his health.
As the journey gradually shortened, her nervousness grew. After paying the cab fare, Lin Yueyue stood before the rather elegant villa, took a deep breath, and rang the doorbell.
"Who is it?"
The door opened, revealing Lin Feifei, her half-sister. Feifei looked shocked to see Yueyue and shouted over her shoulder, "Mom! Dad! Look who's back!"
Leaning against the doorframe with a smirk, Feifei eyed Yueyue. "Wow, five years and I almost didn't recognize you," she said, lowering her voice. "I thought you were dead."
Yueyue gritted her teeth, choosing not to engage.
"Well, look who the cat dragged in! Shaohua, your daughter who vanished for five years is back!" came the sharp voice of her stepmother, Hee Hui.
Lin Shaohua's initial shock at seeing Yueyue quickly turned to anger. "You still know how to come home?!"
Five years had passed, and compared to her memories, her dad seemed older, with a few strands of gray hair.
"Dad..." Yueyue choked out, stepping forward quickly.
But the next moment...
"Smack..."
A heavy slap landed on her face. "Dad...?" Yueyue held her cheek in disbelief, her expression dazed.
"Shut up! Don't call me that; I can't bear it! Five years, and now you decide to come back? Ungrateful child!"
"I..." Yueyue bit her lip, her voice trembling. "If you really don't want me here, then I'll leave!"
As she turned to go, Lin Feifei, eager to keep the drama going, quickly grabbed her hand. "Yueyue, you came back just in time. We were just about to eat. Why don't you join us? Dad, calm down!"
Lin Shaohua shot a glance at Lin Yueyue and reluctantly gave in. "Alright, let's eat! Feifei, go call Yecheng down for dinner!"
"Okay!" Lin Feifei nodded, giving Yueyue a meaningful look before heading upstairs.
Just then—
"Yecheng!"
Lin Feifei suddenly called out, spotting the man coming down the stairs. She immediately dashed toward the second floor, her face flushed with shyness as she clung to the man's arm, looking every bit the picture of affection.
Yueyue was momentarily stunned and instinctively looked over. When she saw the man's face clearly, she froze in shock.
He was... he was...
"Jingxuan!?"
