C10 The Unrest

Bright Lee reached behind her with his left hand and adjusted the cup, making a crisp sound.

When Rose Linder heard this clear sound, she felt as if something had exploded in her mind. Her cheeks became red due to the embarrassment she felt, but she was able to calm herself quickly and refused to be controlled by him.

He had already let go of her waist and put his hands at the edge of the counter, confining her within his reach.

He stared at her pure white face with deep and calm eyes. "Miss Linder, were you misunderstanding my intentions?"

Rose pretended to be very calm on the outside, but her heart was beating hard like a drum.

She took a deep breath and smiled, while also trying to stabilize her voice. When she spoke, her voice was tender and relaxed. "How could that be? Mr. Lee is such a good and cultured man, so why would he do something that isn't befitting of his status? Why don't we go to the living room and have a seat?"

Facing his calm and elegant demeanor, she felt very embarrassed.

But Bright didn't have any intention of moving. Instead, he lowered his head. His high nose bridge was almost pressed against hers. His eyes, which were as deep as mirrors, were obscure and unclear.

Rose didn't dare to breathe loudly. Slowly, she restrained her thick long eyelashes, showing the skin under her eyes.

Gentle warm light hovered on their heads. The outline of their hair was dyed and the air was very silent.

"Really?" Bright's hoarse voice at this moment was even more bewitching.

"Anything else?" She raised her eyebrows lightly and her pupils sparkled.

Before she could understand what was going on, he grabbed the back of her head with his palm. Then he lowered his head again and kissed her red lips with his thin lips.

The strength he used to suppress her was quite heavy. Her mind went blank as the entanglement between his lips and teeth was intense. Her tongue went numb, making it difficult for her to breathe. She was about to suffocate under his powerful kiss.

Unknowingly, he had already retreated. His eyes were calm and without any trace of desire.

"That is my answer." He used his actions to tell her what kind of person he was.

Rose was shocked as she never expected him to kiss her. To be more exact, it was not a gentle kiss, but a kind of punishment.

What did she do to offend him?

To hell with his aloof and abstinent desires. It was all nonsense.

She felt that being a beast in disguise was what suited him.

Rose suppressed her anger and spoke in neither servile nor overbearing tone, "Mr. Lee, thank you very much for saving me today. I respect you, but I am not the kind of woman who can put on a show, let alone betray herself to achieve cooperation. What happened just now should be regarded as a misunderstanding. It must not be mentioned to anyone in the future."

After she spoke, Bright smiled lightly and clapped. But still, he asked an irrelevant question.

"Have we kissed in the past?"

Otherwise, how could he have such a strong sense of familiarity after kissing her?

Hearing his question, Rose's heart skipped a beat. "We? How is that possible? Ha-ha, Mr. Lee, please stop joking."

Bright looked at her carefully and scanned her body for a few seconds. The woman he met that night was different from her.

Or was he having an illusion?

"Very well, then. Who do you think is better between me and Theodore?" he asked.

Comparing them? What was he trying to achieve?

This topic was too much of a jump and this made Rose very confused.

"Mr. Lee and Mr. Daughtler are both proud sons of heaven. What does that have to do with me?" she asked.

"Well, you and Theodore are not suitable for each other."

Domineering! This man was too domineering!

She had only met Theodore twice because of work.

Even at that, he did not have a final say on who was suitable for her or not!

With the turn of events, Rose felt that she should not have been softhearted and let him in. Besides, it was not appropriate for them to be alone in the same room.

As it were, she lured the wolf into the house and now, she was the one who was paying the price.

What made the whole matter worse was that he wasn't even taking her words seriously.

"Mr. Lee..."

"Ding-dong... Ding-dong..."

There was silence for a few seconds. "It seems like an esteemed guest has arrived." Bright didn't continue the discussion with her. He turned around and left in a carefree manner.

Rose put her hands behind her back and tried to calm herself down first.

After sorting her emotions, she came out of the kitchen quietly. She looked around and couldn't tell where Bright was hiding.

She went to the door and checked through the peephole. She saw that the person standing outside the door was Theodore. This was another wave that was yet to be settled.

She kept battling in her heart whether to open the door or not.

If he saw Bright in her room, what would he think? There would be some unnecessary misunderstanding, so she could only think of ways to make him leave.

"Is there something you need from me, Mr. Daughtler?" Rose asked him politely.

"Rose, I'm sorry to bother you at this time. It's just that you were implicated because of me. I feel very bothered and just wanted to see if you are well, so that I can feel at ease." His voice was filled with self-blame and worry for her.

"Mr. Daughtler, you must put your mind at ease. I am fine now. I will be on the plane tomorrow morning after 8 am, so I was about to sleep before you came." She was using this as an excuse to say, "You should also go back early to rest."

"In that case, why don't I treat you to breakfast tomorrow morning and then drop you at the airport myself to make up for my sins?" Theodore's voice was clear when he said this.

There was silence again. Rose frowned and felt a headache. "Mr. Daughtler, this has nothing to do with you. Besides, the hotel has breakfast services and a private car to take us to the airport. So you don't have to bother yourself by making a special trip for me. I don't want to delay you."

"Rose, this cooperation will take at least half a year. Don't you want to be polite to me?" Theodore smiled and spoke in a low voice. "Have a good rest tonight. I'll see you tomorrow."

So it was such a happy decision?

"Mr. Daughtler..."

"You said you would call me Theodore. Did you forget?" he asked.

"Oh, Theodore, thank you."

"We are friends."

Rose sighed and lowered her eyes. If Bright was not here, she would have opened the door and thanked him in person.

Bright was just a demon!

While she was still immersed in her thoughts, a slender figure approached her from behind, enveloping her entire body.

Rose turned abruptly and saw that Bright had changed into a new snow-white shirt and a pure black suit. Even though it wasn't something new, it made him stand out from the rest of the world.

The nobility that was engraved in his bones and the spirit of being a superior person was unmatched.

Such a devil!

"Was that Theodore? Why didn't you invite him in?" Bright asked as he slowly tidied up the sleeve of the white shirt that was revealed outside the black suit.

Rose ignored him and just stared at him with misty eyes.

"Are you angry?" Bright asked with a smile as he unlocked the door.

He didn't open the door immediately. Instead, he leaned over. His thin lips were pressed against her ear and his voice was very hoarse. "I am just exercising my rights."

Of course, it was natural and justified!

'Your rights? Who, in his right mind, gave you such rights?'

Rose couldn't help but curse in her heart.

"Bright, why are you here?"

This was Theodore's voice.

'He didn't leave?' Rose wondered.
