C15 She's My Wife

Bright Lee picked up Rose Linder and strode away. His back was straight and he had a strong aura.

She leaned on him with her ears pressed against the left side of his chest. She felt his heartbeat and the warmth of his skin.

Bright lowered his eyes and took a look at her. Her brows were tightly knitted as if she was in severe pain.

He quickened his pace and walked out of the hotel.

He quickly hailed a cab at the entrance of the hotel and sat in the backseat. He put Rose on his legs and held her.

"Take us to the nearest hospital," he said to the driver.

The car started immediately. Bright took a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped the fine beads of sweat forming on her fair forehead.

"Are you alright?" Bright asked in a low and soft tone, compared to his normal cold and indifferent voice.

Rose nodded, although her face was pale and cold with sweat. She looked very uncomfortable.

"Just lean on me. We would get to the hospital very soon," Bright comforted her and urged the driver.

After twenty minutes, they arrived at the nearest hospital in City Y.

Before the car stopped, Bright already opened the door and got out. He carried Rose carefully and headed to the Emergency Department.

"Doctor, please save her."

Bright had a handsome face, a tall and straight body, with a noble demeanor. As soon as he entered the hospital, he attracted countless gazes.

"Why are you all still standing there? Can't you see that someone is sick?" Bright's voice was loud, full of authority.

The female nurses, who looked at him with infatuation, finally came back to their senses. With red faces, they hurriedly replied, "Coming through."

Two female nurses pushed the bed beside them over. "Put the patient here."

"May I please ask what's wrong with the her?" a nurse asked, trying to understand the basic situation.

"It should be stomach pain," another nurse said. Along the way, Bright saw that Rose's hands were on her abdomen. She was in so much pain that she no longer had the strength to speak.

"Hurry up and register the patient."

The nurse pushed Rose into the emergency room.

Bright quickly went to register and was stopped by a nurse from going into the emergency room when he came back. "Sir, please, you will have to wait outside. You can't go in now."

Bright held the registration sheet and pursed his lips. He sat gently on the lounge chair.

As he sat there, the nurses who went back and forth looked at him with their eyes filled with amazement.

"Do you want some water, Sir?" one of the them summoned the courage to ask.

"Thank you." Bright took the cup and placed it beside him. When he saw that the nurse was still standing in front of him, he asked, "Is there anything else?"

She shook her head and asked, "Sir, is that lady your girlfriend?"

Bright raised his eyes slightly and stared at the nurse, which made the latter afraid.

"Sorry I bothered you," the nurse said as she turned to leave.

"She's my wife," Bright said proudly with curled lips.

His words, not only satisfied the curiosity of the nosy women around, but also shattered their hearts.

Just then, the door to the emergency room was pushed open and the doctor came out. Bright stood up and went to meet her. "Doctor, how is she?"

The doctor took off her mask and looked at Bright seriously. There was a strange look in her eyes.

"What's wrong with her, Doctor? Is it that serious?" he asked again.

"Not at all. It's not something to be worried about. Your wife is just having menstrual cramps." When the middle-aged female doctor said this, she scolded him, "How did you become a husband? Your wife can't take alcohol during this time of the month or eat cold food. Don't you know that?"

Menstrual cramps? He thought she had a gastric disease or bad stomach pain.

He was so shocked. "What should I do then?" he asked.

"I'll prescribe some painkillers for her. She will be able to go home after taking an intravenous drip." The doctor pushed her glasses and said coldly, "Sir, you need to reflect on yourself."

"All right. What do I have to do now?" Bright, who had always been high and mighty, did not get angry because of the doctor's criticism. He humbly asked for guidance.

Daniel Bailey, who just arrived, saw that his boss was like a primary school student who was being taught by a teacher. What surprised him the most was how obedient he was.

Was he still the same boss who tortured them?

He was the one who always scolded other people, not the other way around.

"Now go and buy some sanitary napkins for your wife, as well as some red sugar and boiling water for her to drink. Or better still, get a hot water bag so that she can warm her abdomen. Then she added, "Take good care of her."

Bright looked at Daniel, who was standing quietly next to him and said, "Quickly go and buy all she said. You remember, don't you?"

Although Daniel looked embarrassed, he wouldn't dare to disobey the orders of his boss.

"Don't worry about it, I'll go myself. Just stay here and keep watch," Bright said as he called out to Daniel, who had just started walking.

He walked briskly to the 24-hour supermarket at the entrance of the hospital to buy the things.

He had never bought sanitary napkins for any woman before and became even more confused when he saw so many brands. He didn't know which one to choose.

He picked up the most expensive ones, took the red sugar, and electric water bag. He then proceeded to pay the bill.

Some of the little girls around were so envious when they saw this.

"If such a handsome man can buy me sanitary napkins, I'll marry him at once."

"Being his girlfriend will be so blissful. I hope I can get a boyfriend like this!"

"Right now, I'm so sour to the point of lemon essence."

Bright carried the bag to the infusion room. Rose had already taken the drip. He took out the red sugar and the hot water bag and gave Daniel to open them.

He sat on the chair beside the bed, looked at Rose, who was a little more energetic, and asked, "Do you feel any better?"

"Yes, thank you."

"Don't you understand your body?" he asked. "I thought you were ill." He frowned, showing his displeasure about how Rose didn't cherish her body.

"I've always had menstrual cramps, but this time, it was because I drank too much, plus the workload too. It just made me more nervous." This had always been her problem.

"You've always had this?" he asked as his handsome face softened a little.

"Under normal circumstances, I only need to pay attention to it for a few days. This time is an exception. I didn't expect it to hurt like this," Rose said as she bit her lips. Her eyes fell on the bag he was holding and she asked, "What is that?"

"The doctor asked me to buy you some things," he said as he put the bag in front of her.

Rose opened the bag and saw that it was full of sanitary napkins. In an instant, her pale and colorless face became red. She became as shy as a crabapple sleeping in spring.

"You bought all these yourself?" She couldn't believe it.

"Yes," Bright answered as he looked at her blushing face. "Well, it's nothing, but I can see that you're blushing. How do you think you should thank me this time?" he asked.

Rose was at a loss for words.

It was rare for a man to buy such private things for a lady. In addition, Bright was someone with high status. It must have been very difficult for him.

If she said that she was not touched by this act of kindness right now, it would be a lie.

The human heart was made of flesh. She felt that the turbulent waves in her heart made her nose feel sour.

"I owe you one. You can tell me whatever you want me to do for you at any time," Rose said with her face full of sincerity.

"Why don't you marry me then?" Bright said as he crossed legs and curled his thin lips.
