C16 A Difficult Situation

Rose maintained the same posture as she stared blankly at Bright, who was sitting on a chair by the bedside.

"Come on, Mr. Lee, don't make such a joke." Rose smiled and pretended to relax, but deep within her, she was tensed.

"Does it look like I'm joking? Since you're not married, what's wrong with such a request?" Bright asked as he interlocked his fingers, sitting gracefully. His eyes were as deep and dark as the night sky. She had no idea what he was thinking.

The powerful aura he emitted shocked her. She felt embarrassed and uneasy. Her white fingertips gripped the blanket tightly.

"Mr. Lee, actually, I... I..." Rose stuttered, thinking of the perfect way to say what she had in mind. "I am already married," she blurted out.

When Bright heard this, he raised his dark eyebrows and stared at her. A hint of slyness flashed through his eyes.

"Mr. Lee is so popular and will never be short of beautiful women to be with him. Please don't make things difficult for an ordinary lady like me. Why don't you think of something else?" Rose said with a smile. She only wanted to persuade him to withdraw what he just said and not have strange thoughts.

"Do you feel offended because of what I said?" Bright asked. He wanted to see how she would respond.

"No, no, no. It was Mr. Lee, who was offended." She was almost unable to withstand his continuous pestering.

"I admire you very much, Miss Linder, so I don't feel offended." He didn't give her a way out at all, which made her go berserk.

Rose, who had always been calm and self-restrained, felt very powerless in front of him.

'Fine. You don't feel offended, but I do. In addition, I am very angry, but I dare not say anything.'

This was her thought, but she still had a bitter smile on her face.

"Thank you, Mr. Lee, for everything. I sincerely hope that you will have a rethink about this." She was simply implying that his idea was too casual. "By the way, it's getting late already. Why don't you go back to the hotel and have a good rest? I can go back home by myself once I'm done with the drip."

"It's all right. Don't bother about me. Let me help you till the end. I have plenty of time," Bright said with a playful smile as he raised his brows.

"Mr. Lee, thank you so much for helping me today, but I'm fine now." Rose grabbed the blanket tightly and her gaze fell on his white shirt as if she had discovered something. Her eyes lit up a bit and she said, "Mr. Lee, your shirt is dirty. You should go back, take a shower, and change your clothes. It's not good this way."

As Bright leaned against the chair, both sides of the suit he was wearing fell to his side, so the white shirt inside was revealed. The faint red bloodstain was like a peony blooming on a piece of paper. It was an outstanding beauty, so it didn't harm his handsome and elegant appearance.

Rose's cheeks were already burning. She was so embarrassed that she almost felt ashamed.

That was what rubbed on his body when he hugged her. For a person like him who loved being clean, it was extremely embarrassing. She was afraid that he could not tolerate such dirty stains.

Only then did Bright lower his eyes. His gaze fell on the dirty part of his shirt. "There's no need."

"But..."

Just then, Daniel Bailey brought the soaked sugar water and the electric hot water bag over. "Mr. Lee, do I put them here?" he asked.

"Give them to me." Bright said. He took the water bag first and handed it to Rose. "The doctor said you put this on your lower abdomen. Do you need me to help you?"

She shook her head immediately, afraid that Bright would be one step ahead.

She quickly took it from him and stuffed it into the blanket and smiled at him.

"And this sugar water. Drink it while it's still hot. Your body will feel better." Bright passed the cup to her again. He was being considerate and meticulous.

Rose took it from him and drank it obediently. She felt warmth flowing through her heart, spleen, and stomach. It stirred up a warm current that circulated endlessly and seeped into every pore bit by bit. She felt very comfortable.

When she was done drinking the sugar water, she even shook the empty cup twice in front of him.

He was very satisfied with her performance. "Have a good rest now. I will handle the emails now."

Daniel had already brought his laptop here. He temporarily replaced Theodore Daughtler in City Y. He had some urgent work to take care of, so he had to work overtime tonight.

"This is a hospital, Mr. Lee. It will affect your work. Why don't you go back to the hotel? You can easily rest when you are tired," Rose said. It was obvious that she had his best interest at heart.

"Close your eyes and rest. Be good," Bright said calmly. He put the laptop on his legs and turned it on.

Daniel already left the ward, leaving both of them alone.

"I can stay alone. You don't need to look after me. Go back to the hotel," she advised him again in a gentle tone.

"There are some things that I don't like saying twice." Bright's strong tone did not allow her to refuse.

This was far beyond his patience. He had said it only once and was being very tolerant with her.

He frowned and stared at her. There was no room for negotiation on this matter. All she could do was lie down obediently and face the other side.

When he saw that she had fully cooperated, he focused his gaze on his laptop. His slender fingers skillfully typed on the keyboard.

After what seemed like a long time, Rose turned her face around and secretly looked at Bright who was working hard.

His handsome face was illuminated by the cold light from the laptop. His eyebrows were exquisite as if they were carved, fitting his face perfectly.

He just sat there quietly, constantly exuding his powerful charm.

His actions were elegant, his temperament was handsome, mature, and steady, giving her an incomparable sense of security. Bright was indeed a rare and noble man.

He seemed to have sensed her gaze as he lifted his eyes and caught her in the act. She closed her eyes immediately and pulled the blanket over her head to hide her embarrassment.

Bright only curved his thin lips and then threw himself back into work, paying special attention to the drip at all times.

Time passed steadily and not long after, her drip was done.

He got up and called a nurse to remove the needle.

The older nurse carefully removed the needle and said to Rose with a face full of envy, "Miss Linder, your husband is so good to you."

"Husband?"

Rose didn't understand what was going on.

"Just now, he told me to be very careful when removing the needle that you are afraid of pain," the nurse said with a smile. "The young nurses in our hospital are fascinated by your husband. You have to cherish him."

"Nurse, you're making a big mistake. He is not my husband." Rose was so confused that she didn't know whether to cry or laugh.

"How can it be a mistake? Your husband said that you're his wife." She was there in person when he said it. "Did you both fight?"

"No, but he's not my..."

Before she could finish her statement, Bright, who had called Daniel to get everything ready, pushed the door open and came in. "Are you done? The car is ready. Let's go home."

The nurse looked at Rose and said, "Go home and have a good rest. Make sure you pay attention to your body."

"Thank you, nurse," Bright replied with a smile and watched her leave.

Rose stared at Bright, who was standing by the bed, and asked, "What nonsense did you tell the nurses?"

"What did you hear?" he asked her back with his brows slightly raised.

"Can you explain when and how you became my husband?" When Rose asked this, her facial expression was quite cute.
