C17 The Disguise

There was a deep smile hidden in Bright Lee's eyes and he didn't care.

"Mr. Lee, please answer my question seriously." This time, Rose didn't want to be outdone. She raised her eyebrows and faced him squarely.

However, he still refused to answer her. Instead, he approached her and leaned over. He lifted the blanket and his long arms went around her back and knees, picking her up effortlessly.

"Hey, Mr. Lee..." Rose was in his arms and didn't dare to move or else, she would be in danger.

It was obvious that he was doing this on purpose!

Some minutes ago, she thought that he was a gentleman and being considerate. She looked like she must have seen a ghost.

"Be good." He lowered his head and pressed his thin lips against her ear. His deep voice brushed her ear and his breath was so hot that it made her blush uncontrollably.

He held her and walked steadily out of the infusion room.

The nurses looked at them enviously as they left the hospital.

Under the stairs of the hospital, there was a black Mercedes-Benz parked there. When Daniel Bailey saw Bright walking down the stairs, he opened the door to the back seat first.

Bright put Rose gently in the car and then got into the car from the other side.

Quickly, the car drove out of the hospital premises.

Instantly, Rose pulled away from Bright. His body's masculine scent was so strong that it could make people sink.

This man was elegant and dangerous at the same time. She didn't want to be poisoned.

"Address," Bright's thin lips spat a single word.

"I..." She paused for a second and looked at his cold and determined face.

"What? Are you afraid that I will eat you up?" he asked as he burst into laughter.

What woman saw a hungry pervert and didn't treat him like one by staying far away from him?

"Mr. Lee, why don't you go back to your hotel first and then, I'll go home later." She didn't want him to take her home by himself.

Bright could tell that she was rejecting him, so he said to her, "I didn't book a place to stay at the hotel."

'Who does he think he's lying to?' Rose thought.

"I would be spending the night at your place," he said with a tone of finality.

"Mr. Lee, I'm very grateful to you for what happened today, but you can't be so insatiable, okay? I said I owe you a favor and I'd pay you back." Rose sat up straight and spoke in a clear voice.

"So just use this night to repay the favor." When he said this, she couldn't find any other reason to refute it.

She pursed her lips and furrowed her eyebrows. She was deep in thought.

"It seems that Miss Linder's so-called sincerity is just mere talk." Bright's tone was filled with sarcasm.

At this point, Rose was embarrassed. If she said she was not repaying the favor anymore, she would be slapping herself in the face. It would show that she wasn't sincere.

All the same, she could not take him to her home. If she did, she would expose the fact that she had a daughter.

She couldn't let him know about her daughter. She could not bear the consequences that would come with it.

She was not afraid of anything, but she was afraid that she would lose Doris.

Even though Doris longed for fatherly love, she couldn't bear to take such a risk.

"Why don't you marry me then?" Bright said when he saw that she was still contemplating. He went back to his previous suggestion.

Rose picked up the phone and looked at it for a while before slowly saying, "The address is Silver Lake Garden."

Bright slowly checked for the address on the map and looked at it closely. A dark light flashed across his face and his thin lips were unnoticeable.

Daniel pressed the navigation button and drove to Silver Lake Garden. He parked the car at the entrance of Unit 1.

Bright got off the car and looked around. The environment was rich in green plants and the space was not bad. Although it was not so beautiful, it was still a pleasant place to live in.

Rose still couldn't resist Bright. He carried her out of the car and into the elevator.

None of them spoke. They just watched the white numbers jump continuously until they stopped on the 9th floor.

They walked out of the elevator and came to the front door. Rose took out the key from her bag and opened the door. "Please come in, Mr. Lee."

Bright walked in and Rose took out a pair of slippers for him. "This is for male guests and it's the only pair. Just make do with it."

He put on the slippers and followed Rose a few steps forward. On the left was the living room, on the right, was the dining room and the kitchen, and right in front of him was the bedroom and the bathroom.

The second bedroom was not so big. It was painted white and blue in a simple modern style. It was warm and tidy, and also had the air of a living.

"What would you like to have? Water or fruit juice?" Rose asked politely.

"Water is fine," Bright answered as he sat on the sofa in the living room.

Based on his observation, there was no trace of a male in the house. Other than the pair of male slippers he was wearing, the whole place was very feminine.

It seemed that Miss Linder was a person of good character like his good friend, Christian Gasper, had said.

But why was the picture on the television cabinet that of another woman?

Rose poured Bright a glass of water and came over. When she saw where he was looking, she explained, "She's my roommate, Evelyn Howard. She is from this city. She went back to her parents' house today.

In fact, she was the one who sent a message to Evelyn that she wanted to borrow her house for the night. Besides, they both had the keys to each other's house.

As long as she was able to fool Bright tonight, she would not owe him anything by tomorrow morning.

As long as he didn't find out about the existence of Doris, everything would be fine.

"You can sleep in the guest room. There are spare towels and toothbrushes on the cabinet in the bathroom. You can take them yourself. I'll go in and rest now." As soon as Rose finished giving him instructions, she turned around to leave.

The last time they were alone in a room in the Four Seasons Hotel, she still had lingering fears. She did her possible best to stay far away from him for her safety.

"Why are you so afraid of me, Miss Linder?" Bright drank a mouthful of water to moisten his throat.

"What's the matter? I'm not feeling too well and need to rest. The night is far spent already." Rose placed her right hand on her abdomen to remind him. "You also need to rest, Mr. Lee."

"Since that is the case, then rest." Bright put down the cup and got up. He was tall and had long legs. Standing in this small house, it seemed that the space was a little cramped.

He walked over, stretched out his arm to support her waist, and brought her to the master's bedroom.

Walking to the bedside, Rose was forced to lie on the bed. She was so anxious that she covered her chest with her hands and said, "Mr. Lee, you are not supposed to sleep here!"

"What kind of impure things are you thinking about?" he asked with a smile. He pulled over the blanket to cover her body. "Just try to rest. I'll stay here with you."

The warm light fell from the top of his head. The shadow of his eyelashes was visible.

His jet-black eyes were like the night sky. Starlight flickered and Rose's exquisite face reflected in his pupils.

This look seemed to be electrified, causing her heart to skip a beat.

She quickly shifted her gaze. What was wrong with her?

"I am no longer a child and I don't need someone to be with me while I sleep. Go and rest too." She wouldn't be able to sleep if he was here, would she?

Besides, having taken care of her and working overtime, he should be tired also.

"If you don't want to sleep, we can talk," he suggested.

"Talk about what?" she asked.

"I thought you wanted me to give you an explanation for what happened earlier?"

How would he explain why he said she was his wife?

This made her curious.
