C23 Come Back in Broad Daylight

Rose did not answer the doctor. She just thanked her and jogged away.

Right now, there was an indescribable feeling in her heart. She felt a little sour and moved at the same time.

After eating the hotpot with Evelyn, it was already dark outside. She carried Doris asleep to her room.

Evelyn was still in the living room, watching TV dramas in boredom, apparently waiting for her.

"What's wrong with you today? You weren't in the mood for dinner at all. Are you sick?" Evelyn sat cross-legged on the sofa and hugged a pillow.

Rose sat down and sipped some water. "I unjustly accused Bright."

"What happened between the two of you?" Evelyn was worried. She could not understand the relationship between Rose and Bright.

Rose hesitated for a moment and told her about her period issues. "... So he went to see a doctor for me, but I misunderstood his good intentions and called him a pervert."

She handed the crumpled sheet of paper to Evelyn.

Evelyn looked at it suspiciously, and then her beautiful eyes widened, and she laughed out loud, "Oh, my God! Bright Lee, such a powerful national figure actually went to see the doctor for you on a trivial matter like physiological pain? This is definitely big news worth a lot of money."

Evelyn imagined the scene and her whole body trembled. It was too beautiful to imagine.

"After being in contact with him several times, I feel that he is not as unreasonable as the rumors say." Rose felt that this person did not match the rumors. Even if he looked cold on the outside and was not easy to get close to, she could still feel the softness in his heart.

"So?" Evelyn waited for her next words.

"Today, I could see that Doris likes him very much. Blood relations can't be ignored. That's why they were so close to each other." Rose saw the stars in Doris's eyes as she smiled at Bright. "The parent-child activity in kindergarten this semester is approaching, right? Every time you accompany us to form a parent-child team to play the games, but I can feel her disappointment when she sees other kids with their fathers, and she doesn't have one..."

"Do you want to tell Bright that Doris is his daughter?" Evelyn had already guessed Rose's thoughts, but she couldn't agree. "Rose, you know better than me how Doris came to be. If Bright knew that you used him to save another man, what would he think? What would Doris think?"

"Furthermore, the Lee family is a century-old noble family. They are a prestigious family in the country, and they are truly wealthy. They will not allow their lineage to get lost in the outside world. They can accept the child, but will they accept you? You may be separated from Doris forever."

"The fact that Bright was able to achieve his current position shows that he is not someone simple. I heard that he plotted against his own father and injured his brother, who is still in the hospital even now. Because he is the child of his stepmother, he is a thorn in his eye. How can such a man really be a good person?"

"What you see is just a facade. Don't be fooled by his handsome looks and make irrational decisions. This will affect your life and Doris'."

"Rose, I just don't want you to be hurt. You also said that you should keep a distance from him. The farther the better. This is for your own good, and also for Doris."

Of course, Rose understood what Evelyn was saying, yet there was a voice in her heart telling her that Bright was not such a bad person.

But she couldn't give a better explanation for Doris' birth.

No man wanted to be used as a chess piece. If he got angry... the consequences would be unimaginable.

What a dilemma...

"You are right, I did not think it through properly." Rose agreed with Evelyn's analysis. It was better to be safe than sorry.

"Rose, I hope you can be happy and find a father for Doris who will love her. There are so many men in this world. There must be someone willing to cherish you." Evelyn took Rose's hand. "Actually, Mr. Diaz isn't bad. He also likes Doris very much. You really won't consider him?"

"Marriage is a matter between two families. I have a child, so I will not harm an outstanding young man." Rose saw things clearly and did not want to bother others and create trouble. "Furthermore, I have more important things to do."

This more important thing was the birthday banquet for her grandmother, who would turn 80 in a month.

It was already the end of spring. The weather was warming up, and everything in the world was fragrant. A faint fragrance floated in the air, cooling people's hearts and minds.

The cotton trees in City H were blooming under the bright sunlight. These trees were fiery red, and the intertwining branches were densely covered with tens of thousands of flowers. It looked like a cluster of burning flames.

Rose returned to City H and sighed, remembering the past.

Quinn Hernandez brushed away the red flower on her shoulder and said, "I thought you'd never come back."

"Quinn, thank you." Rose smiled gratefully at the only person in City H who kept in touch with her.

Grandma's birthday banquet was supposed to take place over the weekend but was brought forward four days earlier, this Wednesday. She was very aware of this little trick.

"What are you thanking me for?" Quinn smiled mischievously. "Are you ready?"

"Of course." Rose showed a perfect smile.

She had waited so long for the day when she could come back openly.

Quinn held Rose's arm, and they walked the red carpet at the entrance to the Peninsula Hotel. After handing over the letter of invitation, they smoothly entered the banquet hall.

Quinn lightly smiled and greeted the people in the hall. Along the way, she received compliments and praises and became the center of attention in no time.

They arrived in front of Grandma Linder together. Rose's unexpected appearance surprised Greyson Linder and Riley Ramirez.

They saw that this daughter, whom they had not seen for five years, had changed from a 20-year-old girl to a mature and elegant woman, with the refined and graceful gestures of a noble lady.

Grandma Linder looked at Rose, and her clouded eyes lit up brightly after she identified her: "Is Rose back?"

"Grandma, it's me. I'm back to see you." Rose smiled and walked forward to hug her grandmother, with tears in her eyes. "Grandma, happy birthday! I wish you to enjoy your children and grandchildren. I wish you happiness as deep as the sea and longevity longer than a mountain!"

"Good, good, Grandma is very happy. Let me take a good look at you." Grandma Linder excitedly grabbed her hand, her eyes were full of worry. "You lost weight. You must have suffered a lot during these five years of studying abroad and working, right? Why are you so hardworking? Promise me that you won't leave again, now that you came back."

Rose looked up at her parents, Greyson and Riley, and smiled mockingly.

It turned out that they lied to grandma that she had gone abroad and did not dare to tell her that they had kicked her out from the Linder family because they feared she would be angry.

"Alright, I'm not leaving. I'll stay with you, grandma." Rose looked at her parents with a faint smile. "Dad, Mom, what do you say?"

Greyson and Riley's smiles began to fade.
