C38 One Against Two and He Easily Won

At that moment, both Abel and Alvíss's expressions turned grim.

Their presence on the battlefield of the club competition was proof enough of their strength.

Had Selina called them rookies, they might have accepted it without protest.

But it was Lin Luo who had made the slight.

That, they couldn't stand for.

Exchanging glances, they swiftly reconfigured their formation.

Abel, clad in heavy armor, took the lead with Alvíss, the marksman, closely in tow. Together, they launched an assault on Lin Luo.

Their defense was notably formidable.

Initially, Abel and Alvíss had planned to simply hold their ground.

But Lin Luo's taunts had pushed them past the brink of tolerance, compelling them to switch from defense to offense.

Their new strategy was to eliminate Lin Luo first before turning their combined efforts against Bale.

As they advanced, Abel's rune gun was trained on Bale, firing a relentless barrage.

He aimed to buy Alvíss time and prevent Bale from coming to Lin Luo's aid.

The bullets surged towards Bale, effectively sealing off his next move.

It was a sound tactic, yet it failed to account for one crucial detail.

Bale, the year's standout rookie, was not to be underestimated.

The rune bullets hadn't even reached Bale before he deflected them all with his longsword.

Without a second thought for Lin Luo's plight, he sidestepped the heavily armored Alvíss and closed in on Abel.

Bale's proximity to Abel would surely prompt Alvíss to intervene, thus averting the crisis befalling Lin Luo.

Astonished by Bale's velocity, Abel thought, "Incredible speed!"

Yet he remained composed, retreating while his rune gun continued to discharge.

Bale seemed indifferent to the incoming rune bullets, letting them strike him.

As the bullets made contact, they simply passed through Bale's body without leaving a mark.

Abel was stunned.

He was certain that his rune bullets had found their mark on Bale.

Why then was there not a single scratch on him?

What was happening?

Lost in his confusion, Bale's rune longsword had already reached Abel's chest.

The next instant, Abel was sent hurtling through the air.

Bale withdrew his longsword and found himself face-to-face with Alvíss.

In a head-on collision between a warrior and heavy armor, the latter would typically have the upper hand.

Yet, to everyone's amazement, Bale stood his ground, unwavering.

Bale wielded his Rune Sword to slice through Alvíss's massive shield, resting the blade's tip at Alvíss's throat. The chill emanating from the Rune Longsword relentlessly pricked at his throat. With no other choice, Alvíss conceded, "We surrender."

A hush fell over the crowd.

The victory of the Dawn Society was an outcome no one had foreseen. Bale had secured an effortless win. To many onlookers, it seemed as if Bale had breezed through a two-on-one fight with ease. Yet, the astute observers noticed something amiss. Why had the Thorns' Marksman and heavy armor duo abandoned their defense for an offensive stance? And although Abel's Rune Bullet had indeed struck Bale, it left him unscathed.

But these details paled in significance. The true revelation was the formidable strength of newcomers Bale and Elsa. Their display of power kindled a spark of hope in all the students.
