C4 What was she thinking!
"No!"
Clara Smith instinctively denied.
But as soon as she finished speaking, she sensed the atmosphere in the car was different, a bit low.
Was Anthony Clark... angry?
But why was he angry!
She was the one who suffered last night, and she hadn't even confronted him, yet he was already interrogating her. If she had any courage, she would have retorted.
"Are you sure you're not?" he asked again.
Clara Smith, with her innocent face, said, "Really, I'm not."
"I understand," he said.
What did he understand?
Anthony Clark was always reserved with his emotions. Sometimes he was in a good mood when he had a sullen face, and sometimes he wasn't. Most people couldn't guess his mood and could only be careful around him.
Thomas Dunn, who had been Anthony Clark's secretary for five years, only had a vague understanding of his emotions, but right now, he could clearly sense: Mr. Clark was angry!
And he seemed very angry!
He was probably angered by Miss Clara Smith.
Thomas Dunn was somewhat surprised, but inwardly thought, "The influence of someone close to you is indeed significant!"
"Thomas Dunn."
Nervous, Thomas Dunn immediately responded to the summons, "Mr. Clark, what is it?"
Anthony Clark stared blankly ahead, not looking at Clara Smith, "After the meeting at the company, go and find out who the woman in my room last night was. Find her and bring her here. I'll settle accounts with her personally."
Sitting beside him, Clara Smith hadn't yet figured out why Anthony Clark was angry when she heard him order Thomas Dunn to find her!
Thomas Dunn, without changing his expression, replied, "Yes, Mr. Clark, I'll do it as soon as possible."
Clara Smith glanced at Anthony Clark out of the corner of her eye.
Although she hadn't seen the person clearly last night, Anthony Clark couldn't possibly have missed her.
Clara Smith wanted to question him about his intentions, but when she turned her head and saw Anthony Clark's furious profile, she swallowed her words. Especially since Anthony Clark had just gritted his teeth and said he would settle accounts with the woman from last night.
Would his methods of settling accounts involve exposing last night's events to the public?
Everyone in M Country's elite circles knows she's Robert Clark's fiancée. Even if the person involved last night was someone like Anthony Clark, it would still be a scandal for any of M Country 's elite families.
No one dared to criticize Anthony Clark.
But everyone would surely label her as promiscuous and disgusting.
She might never be able to face anyone again, and the Smith family would be disgraced because of her.
It was precisely because of these considerations that she hadn't brought up last night's events in front of him, wanting to see his attitude, but his attitude remained unfathomable.
While Clara Smith was secretly weighing the pros and cons, her hands were fidgeting. Anthony Clark glanced at her hands and casually asked, "There are no outsiders here. If you have something to say, you can say it directly."
"I just heard Fifth Uncle say he was looking for the woman from last night..." Clara Smith bit her lip and asked softly, "Fifth Uncle, am I going to have a Fifth Aunt?"
Anthony Clark looked up, gazing into her beautiful almond-shaped eyes, and under Clara Smith's expectant gaze, he replied, "Yes."
He admitted it!
But this had absolutely nothing to do with her.
Fifth Aunt...
But the thought of having slept with Anthony Clark, and then him bringing home a wife, how could she possibly call him that!
Clara Smith tentatively continued, "Fifth Uncle, if you found the woman you spent the night with last night, what would you do to her?"
Anthony Clark curled his lips, "I only instructed Thomas Dunn to find the woman who was in my room last night; I didn't say anything else."
Clara Smith: "..."
Damn it!
She gave herself away.
The smile on Anthony Clark's lips revealed his good mood.
It was as if he had just teased a cute little rabbit, and the rabbit's startled reaction pleased him greatly.
A dozen minutes later, the car slowly drove into Treasure Villa.
The Smith family lived in Treasure Villa.
Seeing that the car was about to drive towards the Smith family villa, Clara Smith panicked and hurriedly called out, "Secretary Dunn! Secretary Dunn!"
Thomas Dunn slowed down: "Miss Smith, what is it?"
Clara Smith leaned forward, reaching out to grab the back of the passenger seat: "It's not far from my house, just a few steps away. You're in a hurry, so please don't bother dropping me off at the door. Just park here."
It wasn't a matter of bothering her; she was afraid.
If her parents found out that Anthony Clark had driven her to their doorstep, she wouldn't be able to explain herself no matter how hard she tried.
Although Thomas Dunn slowed down, he could only listen to Mr. Clark and didn't agree.
He was just an employee, afraid of offending Mr. Clark and also afraid of offending his future wife. What if Mrs. Clark held a grudge for not stopping today and whispered in Mr. Clark's ear to make things difficult for him?!
Being an employee is too hard!
"Fifth Uncle..."
Clara Smith saw that the car wasn't stopping and understood that Secretary Dunn only listened to Anthony Clark. She cast a pitiful look at Anthony Clark.
But Anthony Clark ignored her this time.
There was no other way. If the car continued to drive that way, it would enter the Smith family villa's territory. Clara Smith didn't care about being reserved anymore and grabbed the hem of Anthony Clark's suit jacket: "Fifth Uncle, please ask Thomas Dunn to stop the car, please."
"Please who?" He glanced at her.
Clara Smith: "Please...please Fifth Uncle."
Anthony Clark: "Say it again." Clara Smith said with a bitter face: "Please."
Just then, Thomas Dunn slammed on the brakes.
Clara Smith was only holding onto the corner of Anthony Clark's suit jacket, keeping her body at a distance from him. With this sudden stop, Clara Smith's body lurched forward due to inertia, and her head slammed straight into the back of the seat.
She wasn't wearing a seatbelt and hadn't expected Thomas Dunn to slam on the brakes. She thought she was about to embarrass herself.
But then, suddenly, her waist tightened, a large hand gripping her waist and pulling her back.
By the time she realized what was happening, she was already sitting on Anthony Clark's lap, her back against his chest.
Such an ambiguous position… her heart pounded wildly, and she heard Anthony Clark's voice asking, "Did you bump into anything?"
Clara Smith turned around, Anthony Clark's face looming before her.
She froze for about five seconds, her reaction time incredibly slow as she moved back, answering, "No, I didn't bump into anything."
His hand was still on her waist, holding her tightly to prevent her from moving back: "Want to fall off?"
Clara Smith wanted to speak, but felt like her throat was blocked, unable to utter a word. In her extreme embarrassment, her gaze suddenly fell on the light red scratch marks on the side of his neck, and certain scenes from last night flashed through her mind. Her cheeks flushed, and she immediately moved to the side.
Sitting back in her original seat, she was both angry and wondering about Anthony Clark's attitude just now.
It was so ambiguous!
Thomas Dunn stopped the car and turned to say, "Excuse me, Miss Smith, a child crossed the road ahead. Are you alright?"
Clara Smith hadn't seen what had happened, so she could only accept Thomas Dunn's explanation: "I'm fine."
Anthony Clark glanced at her and reminded her, "Weren't you getting out of the car?"
Clara Smith's reaction was truly slow, but she swore that this was only in front of Anthony Clark; normally, she was perfectly normal.
After getting out of the car, she was about to close the door.
"Clara Smith,"
Anthony Clark called out to her. His voice was gentle, giving Clara Smith a lingering, almost ethereal quality, creating the illusion that this man loved her very much to call her name so tenderly.
Clara Smith slapped her forehead. What was she thinking!
She rarely interacted with Anthony Clark, and whenever he was around, she would always try to stay far away. But strangely enough, she always seemed to run into him even when she was avoiding him.
