C18 My Brain Is Not Good
The Chiang family sat neatly on the living room couch, waiting for Chiang Ci to return home. From the moment she stepped through the door, the tension in the air was palpable, like a powder keg ready to explode.
"You're back! Why didn't Young Master Shaang come in for a visit?" Chiang Qiyuan asked with a gracious smile, resembling a caring father concerned about his daughter's late return, and inquiring why her boyfriend hadn't fulfilled his expected duties.
Chiang Ci's lips curved slightly, but her eyes remained devoid of warmth as she looked at him. Faang Yun must have been deceived by that very face back in the day! Only capable of fooling others and himself with false appearances, yet in her eyes, he was still too weak. His eyes couldn't lie.
Feigning a shy demeanor, Chiang Ci boasted, "Peiyan said it was too late today and didn't want to intrude. He'll come by another time!"
Chiang Xinxin suddenly leaped up from the couch, pointing accusingly at Chiang Ci and shrieking, "Why did you have to offend Lirong today? Don't you know Dad worked hard to secure a deal with the Ding family, and now you might have ruined it?"
"What's the big deal if someone says a few words? Causing such a scene at your first banquet is a disgrace to the Chiang family..."
With a sharp "snap," the hand reaching for her face was swiftly intercepted. Ci didn't bother to hide her disdain as she quickly interrupted, "Sis, are you out of your mind? Is it better to offend Lirong or have her demand a million dollars? I don't have that kind of money. Are you going to pay?"
Xinxin's face froze for a moment before she put on a hurt expression and turned to her biggest supporter. "Dad, look at her. She's just making excuses. If she had just apologized, Lirong wouldn't have really asked for a million. Now everyone says the Chiang family's daughters are aggressive, and the Ding family has no way to back down. What about your future business deals?"
Qiyuan watched his two daughters with an unyielding calm, showing no favoritism.
"Sis, are you really that clueless? If your brain's not working, maybe you should donate it," Ci said, casting a sidelong glance at Xinxin. "In situations like that, do people care about money? It's all about saving face! If I had apologized to the Ding family today, where would the Chiang family's dignity be?"
"Are you trying to ruin me or the Chiang family, my dear sister?" Ci's slightly mischievous smile forced Xinxin to take a step back, then another.
Xinxin hadn't considered any of this. She stood there, stunned for a long time before finally snapping out of her shock.
Recalling the events of the dinner party, a surge of anger rose within her. She raised her arm and swung a slap toward Jiang Ci's face.
The sharp sound of the slap echoed through the large living room!
Jiang Xinxin turned her head in disbelief. Jiang Ci's slender fingers had caught her raised wrist, preventing any movement. With her left hand, she swiftly and accurately landed a slap across Xinxin's face.
Jian Yating jumped up from the sofa in shock, shouting angrily, "Jiang Ci, how dare you hit your sister?"
She pushed the stunned Jiang Xinxin aside, who was holding her face in shock, and was quickly pulled into Jian Yating's embrace.
