C1 The blind date

“Ten blind dates, one week. Are you actually making me go through with this, grandpa?” Williams asked with his mouth falling open.

“Come on, my son, you're thirty for God sake, you are no longer a kid, when I was at your age, I already had three children and a flourishing business. Don't worry, I have set up a list of blind dates. They're beautiful, classic and from a wealthy family, you just have to go on the date, pick any lady that captures your heart and marry her.” His grandfather assured him.

“But grandpa, I just came back from London where I went to study. You couldn't allow me to rest for some while”. Williams said, groaning.

“ Williams, no more excuses, you're going on that blind date. If you don't go on the blind date I will not get my surgery done”. his grandfather said in a threatened tone.

Williams was so frustrated, knowing that there is no way out of this except he goes on blind dates. Nora was the first one on the list for the blind dates.

At Washington street, Lucy was at work when she got a call from her best friend Nora,”Lucy please I need your help, I want you to help me go on a blind date, just this one and no more blind dates forever.” She pleaded.

“ What? blind date? No way I'm not going on that blind date for you. Go yourself, I'm busy”. Lucy stuttered.

“Alright, I will pay you five hundred thousand dollars, I know you need money Lucy please,” Nora said in a pleading tone.

Lucy began to have a thought about it because she needs the money to pay some of her father's debts and her younger brother's institution fees. It has not been easy for her since she lost her mom.

“ Okay send me the address, I'm just going because I need the money. Just this one right?”. Lucy asked.

“ Yes, just this one. That's my girl, I will send you the address right now, don't forget to put on the act of being possessed by an evil spirit.” Nora said, smiling and ended the call.

The next day, Williams sat at the Orchid Grill restaurant waiting for the person for the blind date. While he was already regretting why he agreed in the first place, checked his watch and wondered how many blind dates his grandfather had lined up for him.

And then she walked in.

Lucy couldn't stop admiring how gorgeous and handsome he looks as she walks in. She wishes she had time to stare at him more but she has to end this quickly. She takes her seat. She started behaving rudely and arrogant.

“ Do you have a name?” she asked rudely, Chewing gum, giving him Nora's business card. She gave him her friend card Nora because she was the person that was supposed to go on the date.

“Your name is Nora, from the Bank of America company.” he said while looking at the business card.

“ Williams Jackson, from McDonald's……company.” She stammered. She became nervous and scared because she works for the company. The man sitting next to her was her boss and she could not just think straight.

“Excuse me for one second, I want to use the restroom,” she said, hiding her face.

“ Nora (Lucy) is there anything wrong?”. Williams asked.

“ Nothing, noth…ing, nothing.” She said walking staggeredly towards the restroom.

“ What? I'm on a date with my boss, oh my God, I'm screwed. What am I going to do now, or should I just run away? No, there were five hundred dollars on the way. Since he didn't recognize me as his employee I'm safe then” she muttered to herself.

She tried calling her best friend Nora, but it wasn't connecting. Feeling so devastated. She had no choice but to continue what she had started. So Lucy went back feeling nervous.

“ Lucy, You just need to get this done and leave”. She said to herself. Clearing her throat.

The waitress served them two cups of tea. She couldn't carry the cup, her hand was shaking badly. Crossing and uncrossing her legs under the table.

Lucy began to display her possessed act but he didn't even pay attention to her. She decided to try another method, thinking this one will work better.

“ Oh, I'm hot”. She said, taking off her coat.

“ Aren't you feeling cold”. Williams asked.

“No, I'm not. Or should we get a room so that I can show you what I can do”. She muttered. Rubbing the back of her neck.

Lucy thought Williams was an easy person to deal with not knowing he wasn't all. She expected him to decline the offer of getting a room, because all men will not do that.

“ Okay let's get the room.” Williams said. Because he already saw her legs shaking and she was so nervous despite the acting.

So Williams went to the receptionist to make payments for the room.

“ Oh…. My God, No way, why did I bring up this silly Idea of getting a room, am I crazy?. She said to herself, slapping her hands against her cheeks.

“ Let's go, I have made payments for the room already”. Williams muttered.

“ Ok….ay.” she stammered with a fake smile

Lucy because so restless she could not even walk straight. She suddenly felt her heart racing. Already imagining a romantic scene

“ Hmmm…What should I do now? What will happen if we get there? Or should I run away? She questioned herself.

When she saw that Williams was a bit far from her. Lucy began to run away and she accidentally bumped into a woman.

“ I'm sorry, it was a mistake.”Lucy said, apologizing.

As Lucy was about to continue running. The woman grabs Lucy's hair at the back.

“Hey come here bastard ,You husband snacher, how dare you go out with my husband. Don't you have manners? I'm going to deal with you.” The woman shouted.

As she was about to hit her Williams interrupted by stopping and also removing her hand from Lucy's hair . Meanwhile Lucy was already scared and confused because she didn't know what was going on.

The woman showed her a picture of her husband and a lady entering a motel. But she couldn't see their faces. The outfit on the lady in the picture was the same she was actually wearing.

“ No, ma that's not me. Yeah we do have the same outfit but I'm certainly not the person there in the picture.” She said, hiding her face behind Williams.

“ How do you expect me to believe that lie uhhh…..you bastard.” she yelled at Lucy.

“ Madam, why don't you go ask your husband about it. She is not the only one cheating here.” Williams told the woman.

The woman angrily left them.

“ Oh my God, this is so embarrassing, someone should just kill me right now.” Lucy muttered to herself. Covering her face with her hands

Williams called his assistant and he was already waiting for him outside. Lucy was about to start talking when she heard the woman's voice again.

“ Hey, you, I'm not done with you.” She shouted from afar. Running towards Lucy's directions

“ I have to get going before something worse happens to me, that woman is literally crazy.” Lucy said running for her life.

The woman continued chasing Lucy until she Luckily got a taxi.

Lucy went to Nora's place that night.

Williams was on his way home when he got a call from grandfather.

“That was quick, how did the blind date go, did you like her? If you don't like her, you can still go on another blind date. There are more ladies on the list for the blind dates.” His grandfather asked.

“I'm getting married to Nora (Lucy), the lady I met tonight,” he replied.

His grandfather was so surprised to the point he almost choked from what he was eating. Feeling so excited. His assistant almost hit someone due to the shock.
