C6 Let's Talk

Amy blinked her eyes repeatedly as she found the doctors and nurses hurrying into the ward where her father was. After a moment of shock, she dashed in to follow them.

"Oxygen. Monitor the heart rate. Check the blood pressure. Okay, medicine injection." Amy's father was being rescued methodically by a doctor.

Amy brushed aside the nurse in front of her and walked over to her father's bedside.

"Doctor? How's my dad? What's happening?" Amy's voice seemed to be on the verge of breaking down.

"Be quiet. Look, the doctor is trying his best to save your father. Move aside." A nurse standing beside her stopped her from disturbing the doctors.

Amy also saw that the doctor working to save her father was sweating profusely. His complexion was not very good, and she could notice it despite him wearing a mask.

Amy obediently remained silent and stood still on the side. She watched her father getting pricked by those needles and nurses arranging various tubes and instruments on him.

Someone patted her on the shoulder just as she was about to cry.

"You, follow me for a moment." Amy was instructed to come out by the doctor.

Amy gazed at her father for a while before heading out with the doctor.

"Are you related to the patient?" The doctor held a clamp with medical records in his hand. He flipped the papers one by one and read the contents.

"Yes, doc. I am the patient's daughter." Amy wiped away the tears that had been streaming down her face at this time.

"Oh, great! Please, settle your father's medical bills as soon as possible. The money you deposited before is all used up; if something like today happens, I'm afraid we will be unable to rescue him. In the worst case, we will discharge him here." The doctor, with an expressionless face, frankly told Amy.

Amy was penniless, and what made her sad even more was that her belongings were still in the hotel.

"How much is it, doc?" She could borrow some from Isabella for the time being if it wasn't much.

"First, pay one hundred thousand, but it was far from enough. The patient's condition is unstable, and he needs a large amount of imported medicine to stay alive. I recommend performing a heart transplant operation on him as soon as possible. This will give him a chance to recover and not suffer this torture." The doctor was already perplexed by this patient's frequent need for rescue, which often scared others.

"Okay, doc. I'll go and find a way to settle the fees." Amy stopped asking questions. The hospital had notified them that his father was ready for operation; nevertheless, there was a cost. But Amy was unable to take out that amount of money. Just this one hundred thousand was enough to give her a headache.

As soon as the doctor finished speaking, he didn't wait for her to respond. He hurried to enter the ward and checked on the patient's condition.

What should she do? Where should she look for such a large sum of money? It would not be an issue for her to borrow some cash from Isabella. However, the surgery cost millions. It wouldn't be enough even if she sold their house. Besides, her mother had left the house to her, so her father was adamant about selling it.

The Miller Group's assets were confiscated after the company declared bankruptcy. Though there was a house under her mother's name, and her aunt was living there.

"Ah! What to do?" Amy cried out as she was going insane. She yanked her hair with vigor. Why did everything have to happen today? She couldn't even catch her breath.

"Ahm, Excuse me, Miss Miller?" A gentle voice sounded above Amy's head after she cried out.

Amy raised her head and looked at the man standing half a meter before her. He had called out her name, but she was sure she had never met him. She didn't know him, so she shifted her gaze around and found no one else. She was the lone person squatting next to the toilet.

Amy hesitated but still rose to her feet to ask the man.

"Are you calling me?" Andrew Carter believes that his young master's perspective has shifted. The woman in front of him had messed up hair and was still wearing an odd dress. Her eyes were red and puffy, and her face was also swollen. Overall, she was slovenly to the extreme.

Was this the woman Richard wanted to marry? Andrew had doubts and was deep in thought. His expression, though, was as compassionate as ever.

"Yes, Miss Miller , I believe we can talk about something."
