C8 Mr Gibbs

Accept?

Accept an intimate relationship with him?

Leslie held Evelyn close, motionless, yet his once icy heart began to thaw.

Hearing Evelyn's words filled him with relief, but the timing wasn't right.

"Uncle..." Evelyn's eyes, red and brimming with the relief of a narrow escape, looked up at him.

She was captivated by his striking features.

For a moment, stunned by his handsome face, thoughts of her father's relentless push for marriage brought tears to her eyes.

If it came down to a choice, Evelyn was ready to accept Leslie.

Would her father back off if the deed was done?

Evelyn reached for Leslie's collar as a deep, raspy voice whispered, "Evelyn, stop this..."

"I..." She hesitated, yet believed this might be the only way to escape her father's pressure.

She wrapped her arms around Leslie's neck, pressing her lips to his.

He turned his head, his kiss landing on her cheek instead.

The light in her eyes dimmed instantly.

Uncle, do you find me repulsive?

Disappointment washed over her for a brief moment.

But Leslie gently lifted her chin, reassuring her, "Evelyn, I'll take you home. I won't make you do anything you don't want to."

His voice was soft, yet his body was tense.

"Uncle, do you dislike me?" She locked eyes with him, her question piercing.

Their eyes met, each seeing their reflection in the other's gaze.

Leslie was taken aback, not expecting her to feel that way.

A warmth spread through his chest.

He had grown accustomed to others' disdain since losing his legs, but now, this innocent girl questioned if she was the one being rejected.

He offered her a faint smile, then leaned in closer, his voice sultry and captivating, "Evelyn, I've never disdained you, nor do I have any right to. I'm not touching you because I refuse to take advantage of someone so young."

His words caressed her, feather-light, stirring every cell in her body.

Leslie continued, "Rest assured, as long as I'm here, no one can threaten you."

At his words, Evelyn stilled, her eyes blinking away uncertainty, her heart finding an unexpected peace.

Seeing her calm, Leslie's smile hinted at warmth, "Let's head home."

Evelyn nodded without any hesitation, understanding that there was no other choice.

Outside, Dan stood guard, vigilant and silent.

His eyes widened in surprise as Leslie emerged.

A woman pushing the young master's wheelchair?

Good heavens!

Such a sight was exceedingly uncommon!

A few paces ahead, and Dan had yet to catch up.

Leslie's voice, tinged with irritation, broke the quiet. "Dan, has it been that long since you've done a weighted run?"

The very thought of running with weights was like a bad dream.

Dan quickly moved to Leslie's side, taking over the wheelchair. "My apologies, young master, my mind wandered."

"Tomorrow morning, a thousand-meter run with weights. No objections." The command was icy and absolute.

A thousand meters?

Dan's mind reeled.

A thousand-meter sprint was one thing, but with added weight? That was another challenge entirely.

He almost wanted to smack himself for his lapse in concentration.

Leslie's gaze fell to the shadows on the ground, the intertwined silhouettes of him and Evelyn.

Once settled in the car, Evelyn's mind raced with thoughts, but eventually, she found solace in sleep, leaning back against the seat.

"Young master..." Dan's voice was tentative, piercing the quiet.

"Go on."

"The investigation is complete." Dan's voice was laced with apprehension, wary of inciting Leslie's wrath.

"And?"

"Miss Solis's Prince Charming is Mr. Gibbs."
