C16 Dream Girl

The night wind was nice and cooling.

Seeing that it was a nice night out, Ruan Hanyu drove the car to a picturesque spot next to the surging river in the city. After lowering the bulletproof glass, he went on to lit a cigar.

The night wind blowing in from the window brushed aside his thick black bangs from his forehead and blew away the smoke gathering in the car. He looked at the empty space the smoke was disappearing from. His eyes were like two dark and bottomless wells.

He inhaled the smoke deeply into his lungs. Then exhaled heavily, dispelling the smoke with his one breath. The smoke was immediately carried away by the night wind. The dim light on his face was like a dream.

He raised his head slightly, and the memory of a pure and beautiful girl in a white dress flashed in his mind’s eye. The remembrance cast a beatific smile on his face.

One night when he was still in the second grade at C University, the setting sun was lighting up the beautiful campus. Everything was humming with a warm and harmonious energy.

Bored out of his mind, he slowly made his way to the library so that he could more productively pass the time.

As soon as he stepped foot into the library, he walked into a girl. The sight of her left him enraptured. She stood out from the crowd. Wearing a white dress with her long hair cascading over her shoulders, her simple attire only accentuated her beauty. On her pretty face was a pure smile as she held a book in her hand.

It was her smile that dazzled him. It was as bright as a flower and the warmth emitting from her face only completed the picture of a fairy from a dream.

Seeing her, Ruan Hanyu felt his eyes brighten. He finally found the girl of his dreams.

Their eyes met, each drawn to the other. When the girl looked up to see his eyes watching her, her face flushed red and she smiled shyly at him.

Ruan Hanyu’s heart skipped a beat when he looked into her dark and beautiful eyes. The tips of his ears immediately turned red.

As she was passing by him, a string of crisp laughter rang in his ears.

Ever since then, the image of the girl in a white dress was the epitome of his dream woman. A woman who was as beautiful and as pure as a fairy.

Having found his ideal, he began to ask around about her. He soon learned that she was the daughter of the new Head of Finance Department of A City, Minister of Finance, Mu Jinci’s daughter, Mu Qingzhu!

Suddenly, it was like his life had been injected with new vitality. He was always in high spirits and nothing could get him down. Hope began to flower and bloom in his heart.

Little did he know that such a pure and beautiful spirit could turn into such a debaucherous and lewd woman. If he could predict such a thing would happen, perhaps he could have avoided everything.

Looks can be deceiving. The more beautiful a woman appeared, the better she was at hiding the truth. That underneath the beautiful layers was a scheming and treacherous ugliness that could only deceive the most trusting. He was initially fooled into believing that inside she could only be as good as the outside. Mu Qingzhu was anything but!

Because of what happened, he could only conclude this of Mu Qingzhu.

Like all things that must come to pass, his beautiful dream was extinguished. The fire in Ruan Hanyu’s heart was also extinguished. His passion and fire for her too was quenched. Only a vast disappointment was left.

He used everything in his power to forget her. She was a woman who used water and flowers to have her way with men. But he was very proud to have put her to the side. She was no longer in his heart.

But fate had a funny way of throwing his life into chaos. It was like the once calm facade of the lake was now disturbed by many rippling waves.

After graduating from university, Grandma had arranged him in a marriage. His wife was to be none other than Mu Qingzhu.

Why did it have to be that beautiful woman with a vulgar heart?

The arranged marriage filled him with anger and disgust. He used everything in his power to resist, but it was of no use!

Eventually, he just gave up and resigned himself to his fate. In the end, this was just something he had to accept!

Even now, he could understand that in his heart he still held up this fantasy about her.

Her effect on him was such that he could not erase all feelings he had for in his heart. In fact, his impression of her was so powerful that it had branded itself into the depths of his soul.

Otherwise, even if his grandmother forced him to marry, Ruan Hanyu’s personality was so imposing that nobody could push him to do anything. And so what if his inheritance of the Ruan family was on the line? Not one person or thing could force him into a situation that he did not want to be in.

The decision he made was a major event in his life. If he didn’t go through with this, how could he let go of her so easily?

He accepted the marriage and allowed her into the Ruan family. However, the rage he felt could not be controlled and he went out of his way to punish her.

On the wedding night, he had gotten himself drunk. He used everything in his power to violently and wantonly plunder her. The resentment and unwillingness in his heart could not be restrained.

Sure enough, after the act, there were no signs of blood.

The sight of blood that belonged to a woman’s chastity did not make an appearance. It was obvious her purity had been given to another man long ago!

Meanwhile, it was no secret that Mu Jinci was running for the position of head of the Finance Office. The marriage between Ruan Hanyu and his daughter was a strategic tactic to work the Ruan family’s influence and financial resources in his favor. The marriage was a political move to higher his chances at the upcoming election.

Knowing full well her family was just using him, the hate and contempt he felt for Mu Qingzhu grew day by day. The knowledge that the marriage was a sham was like a thorn buried in his side. It was lodged in such a way inside his flesh that his every moment exacerbated the pain.

From that day forward, he treated her like dirt and never stepped foot inside their wedding room again.

Their marriage was only real on paper.

A cigar was eventually quickly finished.

As Ruan Hanyu snuffed out the cigar, his sharp and deep eyes held an impenetrable look.

All these past years, he soon found out that Mu Qingzhu was actually a very stubborn and proud person. This kind of woman would have nothing to do with casual sex.

Perhaps he should have a talk with her to smooth out this misunderstanding. After all, they were in the business world, and those in the industry recognized that keeping the peace was the most important thing. Once they had both come to an understanding, the problem would ease itself and the things troubling them would eventually disappear.

Just when he was thinking about it, the event that had come to pass three years ago entered his mind. The event was so catastrophic, it almost shattered his dreams.

This time in his life was so overwhelming his sanity was even compromised.

Because of that woman his father was hospitalized and his mother too saddened over his father's predicament also fell ill.

Feeling annoyed and anxious, Ruan Hanyu threw away his cigar and hurled his curled fist into the leather sofa.

“She’s not bad. The girl looks delicate and tender.” Mu Qingzhu did not see that there were two fat men in building clothes approaching her from the bank side of the dike. Inside their eyes shone a light like that of hungry wolves.

They had been watching Mu Qingzhu in the dark for a long time. Their eyes flashed with a cold and reckless light. When they confirmed that this woman was drinking alone to relieve her stress, their faces revealed a huge and ferocious smile.

“Old Li, once she is drunk, we will take turns using her. Tonight, we can both enjoy her.” One of the men rubbed his fist with an open palm.

“Yeah, not only can we take turns enjoying ourselves, but we also have her to ourselves. The night is still young and we can take our time. I never thought that we would be so lucky.” The man’s shadowy face lit up after having said that. He raised his hand to wipe off the saliva spewing out of the corner of his mouth. He leered over Mu Qingzhu, his smile full of yellow and disgusting teeth.

It was already very late at night.

Drink after drink, Mu Qingzhu had drunk almost ten bottles of beer in a row after she was finished. Her face was red from the alcohol. At first, she was clear-headed enough to throw the beer bottles. Eventually, she was so drunk that she took turns to cry and laugh when the whimsy hit her. Slowly her drunkenness prevented her from standing up properly. She had to lean against the railing near the river. Her cheeks appeared as red as two steamed crabs. She muttered underneath her breath, “Dad, I can’t take it any longer. What should I do? Dad, tell me what I should do.”

It was at this point more tears fell from her eyes.

The two figures inched in closer and closer. Mu Qingzhu, too distracted by her emotions, could not anticipate the looming danger that she was in.
