C12 Lies

"I'd like to ask you too, why are you so afraid of me being here?"

Although Violet lowered her voice, such a sudden imposing manner caused Sofia to feel a trace of oppression.

Sofia immediately denied it, "I did not."

"What a joke. What do you have now to make me be afraid of you?"

Although Sofia said those words with confidence on the outside, she felt slightly guilty within.

Because the feeling Violet gave her was different from five years ago, yet she could not tell exactly what was different.

With just a glance, Violet could already tell that Sofia was lying.

But right now, she could not find a reason for Sofia to lie.

Seeing that the banquet was about to begin, Violet remembered that she still had something to do, so she let go of Sofia and walked into the banquet hall.

Gazing at Violet blending into the crowd, Sofia fiercely stomped her foot in anger.

"Miss Hunt, why are you still here? The banquet is about to begin," Sofia was about to rage when the Eldest Miss of the Mintz family, Scarlett Mintz suddenly walked over from behind to greet her.

"I came out for some fresh air," Sofia smiled as she turned around and looked at Scarlett.

While she was speaking, her gaze fell on the diamond necklace on Scarlett's neck which was worth ten million yuan.

Suddenly, a scheme against Violet popped up in Sofia's mind.

At half past eight in the evening, the charity donation event had officially begun.

Everyone in the banquet rushed to the side hall under the host's guidance.

On the surface, this banquet looked like a donation event, but in reality, the Mintz family organized this to select their next project partner.

Therefore, these people were secretly competing with each other.

Violet was the only one standing at the back of the hall as her intention of attending this banquet was to pay a visit to an old friend on behalf of her teacher.

Despite that the donation ceremony was already halfway through, the members of the Mintz family had yet to show up.

Thus, Violet guessed that the only person who could see the members of the Mintz family tonight would be the one who donated the most.

If she wanted to meet Old Master Moore, she could only find another way.

Violet bit her lips and thought about ways to meet the Mintz family. Hence, she did not notice a waiter holding a tray of wine walking towards her.

Just as Violet took a step forward, the two of them bumped into each other.

Fortunately, the tray in the waiter's hand was empty and did not cause a big commotion.

Violet, on the other hand, threw her handbag to the side in order to protect the present in her hands.

"Miss, I'm sorry, I'm really sorry," The waiter quickly bowed and apologized sincerely.

Seeing that the waiter was merely a teenager and thinking that it was not intentional, Violet did not fuss over it and only replied, "It's alright."

As Violet spoke, she walked toward the direction of the washroom and completely forgot about her handbag, leaving it on the ground.

Sofia, who had been hiding in the dark, only came out once Violet's figure had disappeared from her sight.

She quickly picked up the handbag on the ground and took advantage of the fact that no one was paying attention to stuff a diamond necklace into it. Then, as if nothing had happened, she threw the handbag back to where it was.

After hurriedly carrying out her plan, she disappeared into the corner.

The moment Violet came out from the washroom, only then did she realize that her handbag was gone.

Then she thought about the time when she bumped into the waiter, perhaps her handbag had fallen off that time.

When she returned to the hall, the handbag was indeed still lying on the ground. However, just as she picked up the handbag.

A group of people suddenly surrounded her.

Violet vaguely frowned and sensed something wrong.

"Hand it over," Scarlett walked out from the crowd and ordered.

"Hand over what?" Violet felt strange, after all, she did not know this person before her.
