C14 Chapter 14
Zhong Xinyi looked at the man beside her, a man who carried the unmistakable air of power and authority. His profile was sharp and brooding, his features striking, his jaw tight. When he spoke, his Adam’s apple shifted slightly, and his voice was low and resonant, like a drumbeat. Everything about him was flawless—not to mention that his wealth ranked among the top ten in the world.
A man like this was someone she had to hold on to today, no matter what.
Zhong Xinyi smiled softly, the corners of her eyes alluring and flirtatious, her gaze tender and inviting. Her fingertips brushed across Saang Shijuan’s chest as she gently tugged at his collar and cooed, “Come inside with me, please. As Lingchuang Clothing’s newly signed spokesperson, I’d feel a lot more confident if the boss was there to back me up.”
The little boy in the front passenger seat, Saang Yuxin, listened to the syrupy words drifting from the back seat and couldn’t help shivering. His round eyes rolled dramatically toward the ceiling.
Saang Shijuan frowned slightly and lowered his eyes to glance at her pale fingers, a flash of distaste crossing his eyes.
Without making a scene, he removed Zhong Xinyi’s hand and gave a calm nod. “Okay.”
Zhong Xinyi’s eyes lit up.
There were plenty of well-known media outlets gathered inside and outside the competition venue. If Saang Shijuan was willing to appear with her in public, in full view of the press, what did that mean?
It meant Saang Shijuan was interested in her.
If she just pushed a little harder, the day she married into wealth and status wouldn’t be far off. Ha...
Saang Shijuan turned his gaze to the front seat, his tone even. “Saang Yuxin, you’re coming in too.”
Saang Yuxin pouted. “You two go ahead. I’ll wait in the car.”
Saang Shijuan’s brow furrowed slightly. From that tone alone, he could tell the woman beside him had once again failed to win Saang Yuxin over.
Zhong Xinyi had long heard rumors about Saang Shijuan’s son, the boy who had always been so carefully shielded that the media had never managed to get a single clear photo of him. Seeing him for the first time today, she was completely stunned by how he looked.
She had never seen such an adorable child before.
The boy had clearly inherited all his father’s best genes. His features were delicate, yet there was still a sharp, chilly edge to them. Even his presence was just like his dad’s—distant, aloof, and impossible to approach.
Still, even though Yu Xin was cold toward her, that wasn’t enough to throw Zhong Xinyi off.
If she’d been the kind of woman who cared too much about saving face, there was no way she would’ve climbed to where she was now as a second-tier celebrity.
So even after noticing Saang Yuxin’s indifference, Zhong Xinyi kept a bright smile on her face and did her best to look warm and approachable. “Yu Xin, your dad definitely wants you with him, so why don’t you come inside with us? There’s a lot of fun stuff in the competition area—way more interesting than sitting in the car.”
Zhong Xinyi had it all planned out. Saang Yuxin was Saang Shijuan’s precious son. If she could win Yu Xin over, then she’d be more than halfway to marrying into the family.
Hearing that, Saang Yuxin showed little reaction. He simply turned his head and cast Saang Shijuan a cool, indifferent glance.
As his father, Saang Shijuan understood immediately. Zhong Xinyi clearly hadn’t made it past his son’s standards—his son didn’t even want to say a single word to her.
Zhong Xinyi, unable to read Saang Yuxin’s expression, kept smiling in what she believed was a warm, affectionate way and continued persuading him. “Come on, just come with us…”
“Forget it.” Saang Shijuan spoke coldly, cutting her off.
Zhong Xinyi froze for a moment. Then she heard Saang Shijuan’s indifferent voice continue, “If he doesn’t want to go, let him stay in the car. Huo Zhou,” Saang Shijuan called to the driver, “you’re responsible for Yu Xin’s safety.”
Huo Zhou nodded. “Yes, Mr. Saang.”
