''Mmoom?..''

Reina’s trembling voice spoke loudly.

When the empress entered the room, she saw Miraila sitting next to her so-called ''husband'', she smiled and spoke proudly.

''You must have buried me already, my love.''

A very uncomfortable silence surrounded the room.

The empress didn't care about the law, but to put the emperor down could always give her satisfaction. She was not here to cause trouble either, she was there to see her children and to talk about Raiden's engagement with Winter's princess Skyla.

She quickly had a look around and saw the faces of Raiden and River, she saw two of Winter's guests and most importantly she saw how much Reina and Reido had grown..

The empress wanted to cry, but she had to stay strong in front of her number one enemy.

No weakness right now could do her any good, she would just look vulnerable and fragile and that was not the image she wanted to portray.

She saw Reina's crying face and how surprised Reido was to see his mother after so long. She wanted to go and hug them tightly, but the emperor was there..

She knew if she did anything reckless in front of him, he would scold Reina and Reido, they most likely would get beaten up and grounded.

She couldn't call herself a mother if she would allow that, her most important priority was to protect her children from any danger. ''I'm sorry.'' She murmured to herself and sat next to River ignoring Reina and Reido as if they didn't exist.

River was really confused. Why would she sit next to him and not next to the emperor? She could easily and legally get rid of Miraila from that seat, it belongs only to her, she's still alive and healthy, she's here, so why is she not going to do anything about her seat?

River looked at the emperor and Miraila and their faces were burning with anger.. You could see the vein on Miraila's forehead popping up, she still had the guts to sit next to his father after the empress Diara walked in, how brave was she? He smirked.

The emperor was gritting his teeth, he always does that when something doesn't go as he planned.

He looked back at Miraila and this time she was biting her thumb nail. ''She must be really intimidated.'' He thought.

This silence was still there, but despite the angry emperor's gaze, the empress was unbothered.

She looked fearless and cold, like no one could harm her.

She gently touched River's shoulder with hers, like asking him to lean forward, so she could quickly have a look at Reina.

River leaned forward just like his mother asked, and the empress looked to her left side and saw Reina's upset face. She looked hurt.

Well, obviously her mom whom she hasn't seen for years just appeared in front of her. Reina only knew her from portraits in the castle.

The empress Diara closed herself from everyone else when Reina was just two years old, so she doesn't remember anything about her mother, and the fact that she wasn't even acknowledging her right now, her heart felt wounded.

The empress saw Skyla holding Reina's tiny hand, she was supporting her, the empress smiled, she felt a little bit relieved that Skyla was there for her, but Reina still looked sad and the reason was very obvious why? ''Just a little bit more, my princess.'' The empress murmured to herself and gently touched River's shoulder to lean back.

River did what his mother asked him to do, he leaned back and looking at Reiden's surprised face, he nodded his head.

Raiden knew what was happening, the empress could clearly see Reido's face, but not Reina's.

Everyone felt really awkward with the empress, even the Winter's siblings didn't know what to say? They knew the empress very well, as back in the days their mothers used to be best friends, so they get to visit Preto pretty often.

When their mother, the Winter's queen Erna passed away, the Dragon closed himself for a while and travelling to Preto became harder for them. When the Dragon was ready to accept his new rider, the empress of Preto didn't allow anyone to see her anymore, so that was a long time ago when they actually saw her.

She didn't change one bit, she was still gracious and beautiful in their eyes, her elegance was still there and her pride didn't vanish anywhere, even fighting by herself after so many years, she still managed to look incredible.

''How is your engagement preparations going?''

The empress asked Raiden.

Everyone was shocked with her question, but this awkward silence must be ended, Raiden thought and replied.

''It's going great, mother. We will announce the wedding day during the ball.''

Skyla bit her lip, she felt uncomfortable.

''And where is the wedding going to take the place?''

Raiden sighed.

''Well, since Skyla is going to be the future empress of Preto, we think it would be the best to make it happen in Preto.''

''So which one inherited the dragon's power?''

The empress asked Kaiden.

''It was me, your highness, Skyla only got to know his name.'' Kaiden answered in a calm voice.

''Just his name? What about the water power?''

''She could use it, if the dragon allows her to.''

''So if there was an emergency and the dragon wouldn't be here, could she use it?''

''Yes, if she shouts his name, he will answer.''

Kaiden kept on answering the empress questions, meanwhile Skyla was staring at Reina's trembling hand.

''Good.''

The empress said with no facial emotions.

''Mother, will you be here during the ball?''

The empress Diara looked at River, she was surprised with his question.

''Yes, It's my duty as the Preto's empress to attend the celebration of the war ending.''

''I will want to introduce you to someone, mother.''

''Introduce me to who, River? You better introduce yourself to her first.''

She answered confidently and looked at Raiden.

''Hhoww ddid youu knooww?'' River was surprised.

''There's nothing that I don't know.''

Everyone was in silence for a moment, until the emperor spoke from the other side of the room.

''What are you talking about?''

Raiden looked at his brother and with a funny look on his face, without looking at the emperor he replied.

''There's so much you don't know about the Black Dragon, father.''

''The Black Dragon, you say? Did you forget that while I'm still here, that brat will not be called so?''

''Your powers are weakening, your majesty. River is much stronger now, if I remember correctly, you were way weaker when you were his age.''

The empress answered his question with a look full of confidence.

The disrespect from the empress towards the emperor was very obvious. She didn't hold herself back anymore, and kept sending insults towards him back and forth.

The emperor felt humiliated, no man could ever dare to insult him, but his wife whom he loved so much back then was not backing down at all. The audacity of the empress to offend him in front of his children, the rage was inside his head. '' I will destroy you.'' An angry voice was inside of him, a dark black shadow appeared behind his back and when he was about to call for the Winter's dragon ice to attack her, he noticed dark red eyes staring at him.

This fierce and strong gaze was coming from River's side. It made the emperor feel scared. This look was to cause fear in his mind and stop his action before anything happens.

The emperor started trembling, his skin was shivering, his head felt straight pressure, his vision went dark. The long table surrounded by people disappeared in front of his eyes and a cold dark winter view appeared in front of him. It made him freeze his own fingers, he was no longer able to use it to cast any spells for now.. He knew that the two guests were probably involved in this too, because there's no way River himself could cause the Winter's dragon vision.

''Wwhhyy aaree ttheey stronger than meee?'' He thought and sat back down without realising it.

Since River is the descendant of the Black Dragon, he could feel any other Dragons or its riders attacks coming his way, since his mother was sitting right next to him, he felt an ice attack was about to be thrown his way, the Winter siblings would never harm his mother, but the emperor would.

He loved his mother more than he could ever love his father, if needed he would sacrifice his own body to save his mother, no one could harm her in front of him.

''Why was the emperor so scared only of my look?''

He looked at Kaiden who was wiping his mouth with a tissue that was left on the table, on Kaiden's face appeared a little sarcastic smile.

''So it was you.''

He looked at Kaiden and one more time at the emperor who was sitting over there with a frozen soul.

''His powers bust be really weaken, if this little attack can harm him this bad.''

Miraila didn't understand what was happening to the emperor, she didn't have any powers to feel anything, but this awkward feeling was covering her body. She wanted to escape, as just the empress' presence was making her feel like an empty shelf, but if she backs down now, there will be no coming back for her.

''You must stay strong.'' She murmured and continued on eating as if nothing happened.

The awkward dinner finished and the servants surrounded every single person who was in the dining room, to lead them back to their chambers. When the empress stood up and was about to leave, Reina started crying out loud.

She was no longer trying to hide her tears nor her sad face, seeing Reina crying, Reido who was acting strong followed her actions and began to cry as well.

Skyla was trying to hold Reina's hand even more, but Reina started shouting and begging her mom not to go.

''Pleaaase, just a little bit moooree longgeer, staay wiith mee.''

''Weeeeh.''

Reido followed her.

An awkward dinner turned into a one big crying scene.

River wanted to calm Reina down, while Raiden was comforting Reido.

Reina pushed River and ran to her mom.. Seeing Reina do what she just did, Reido ran to the empress too. Both of them hugged her long dress, and kept on crying.

''Don't leaavee us, mother.'' Reido shouted.

''Pleaase, ddon't goo.''

The empress touched their heads gently and a sad emotion appeared on her face, it looked like she wanted to cry with them. She missed them, they were her babies. The babies that she didn't get to raise and comfort.

She saw the emperor's angry face and released her hands off them.

She looked at River and Raiden with a weird look on her face, like she was asking her sons to take them away.

No words needed to be said, River took Reido away and Raiden grabbed Reina from behind.

The empress was finally able to walk out, when her kids crying voices in the back were shouting at her asking not to go.

She wiped her tears off her face, and quickly started to walk towards her palace. Deep down inside she was screaming and crying, the unbearable pain was there inside her chest, the harm she caused her children, she could never forgive herself.

River and Raiden were there to comfort them, but it was her job as their mother, she wanted to hold them tight and hug them, she didn't want to let them go. It was too achy, she was too cruel to them.

When she was about to reach her palace, a bunch of soldiers blocked the entry. The emperor walked in feeling all confident and brave, because no one who was more powerful than him was around at this moment.

He approached the empress and touched her long pink hair.

The empress was standing still saying nothing to him.

''Did you see the scene you just caused with your reckless behaviour?''

He asked her sadistically.

''Do you love seeing your children in pain that much?''

He smirked.

''Don't you dare to do anything to them, you coward !!''

She finally answered him. Her look was burning in anger.

''This happens when you don't listen to me, my dear.''

''Don't listen to you, you say? Let me remind you, who was responsible for your full power awakening? Who was in charge of your father's death? Who was in charge of restoring this kingdom? Who was the mastermind before the Harvu kingdom fell? So don't you dare threaten me with my children ever again !!!

The empress' eyes changed from the colour of gold, to the colour of dark green. This was the power from the Senkaru kingdom.

They say that the Senkaru kingdom was the very first kingdom to get blessed by the Goddes Serenyatra, before she gave birth to the Holy four dragons. The royal family from Senkaru kingdom could change their eye colour when they got angry. Their powers were hidden and kept in secret away from the world, as no one really knew what kind of chaos it could cause to the world.

''I promise you, if you touch Reina or Reido, that day will be the last day of you staying alive. I will burn you to ashes and will burn everyone around you whom you love so dearly.''

''You dare to threaten me, the Black Dragon?''

The emperor asked her furiously, he felt offended.

''No, I threaten you, Areno.''
