C2 Little Robber
After retrieving their baggage, Yan Shu perched her daughter on top of the suitcase and rolled it toward the bathroom.
“I need to use the bathroom.”
“I’m not going with you!” Yan Xiaosui jumped down and pouted at her mom. “I want to buy some potato chips.”
Yan Shu opened her mouth to say something, but she was promptly interrupted. “There are surveillance cameras everywhere, so I won’t get lost. Bye, Mommy!” With that, Yan Xiaosui scampered away.
Yan Shu could only watch and shake her head. Her daughter was a smart kid, and she also had a GPS watch, so she should be fine. She turned and headed to the bathroom.
Meanwhile, Yan Xiaosui had reached the snack counter. “I’d like a bag of potato chips, please, and one sausage!”
After staying in Country M for over five years, she had long grown tired of its cuisine.
Coincidentally, she had read that City Y was a food capital, and one of their special delicacies was the roasted sausages at the airport.
A moment later, another tiny figure hobbled over and raised an iPad with both hands, showing it to the salesperson.
“I also want a bag of potato chips and a roasted sausage.”
Yan Xiaosui studied the boy, noting that he was a head taller than her. He wore a light gray sportswear, a mask, and a hat. Despite his sketchy attire, he exuded the calm demeanor of a young master.
Her attention was then drawn to the watch around his wrist. Yan Xiaosui’s eyes sparkled.
It was a very expensive, limited edition watch.
She had saved five years’ worth of pocket money, but she couldn’t even afford one of its spare parts.
“Are you unable to speak?” Yan Xiaosui asked curiously. “Or are you just having difficulties?”
She wanted to cozy up to him for a chance to take a look at his watch.
The boy turned to Yan Xiaosui, his gaze cold.
He ignored her enthusiasm and even took a few steps back.
“I’m really sorry,” the salesperson said, handing a packet over the counter. “But we only have one sausage left.”
Seeing that the boy was about to reach for it, Yan Xiaosui hurriedly snatched the sausage away. “I paid first, so it’s mine!”
She wasted no time and took a big bite. Her eyes immediately lit up.
“Sure enough, the gourmet magazine is a reliable source! The sausages here are so good! If only I could stay at the airport all day.”
When she looked up, she found the priceless watch dangling in front of her face.
The little boy was staring at the sausage in her hands. He swallowed audibly once or twice.
“Do you want to make a trade?” Yan Xiaosui’s first instinct was to grab the watch, but she caught herself at the last second. “I already bit into the sausage, though. Do you still want it?”
Fu Jingyan hesitated for a brief moment and nodded eagerly.
But Yan Xiaosui was no gullible girl. “Your watch has GPS, right? If I take it, I might end up at the police station tomorrow!”
Fu Jingyan shook his head and held up his iPad. “I’ve already removed the tracking program.”
“Liar! You don’t look that much older than me!”
She was about to reject his offer when the boy suddenly swiped the sausage from her hands and replaced it with his watch.
And then he ran away.
Yan Xiaosui huffed in anger.
For as long as she could remember, she was the one who always scammed others out of their possessions. This was the first time that someone had actually managed to rob her.
She rushed into the crowd to chase after the boy, only to bump into a man’s leg.
He moved quickly to catch her before she fell.
