C4 New Method to Pick People Up

In this hotel, points were equivalent to the employees’ salaries. If their points were deducted, that meant that their pay would also be docked.

Yan Shu ignored the staff’s distressed expression and proceeded to give everyone their respective assignments.

Just as she was wrapping up, one of the receptionists rushed over, looking flustered. “Manager Yan, Director Yee from Hesheng just called. Apparently, he had booked a team from our hotel to prepare a birthday banquet for his wife. The problem is that Manager Huang is currently on vacation.”

“And Manager Huang didn’t advise you of this before he left?”

“No. I can’t get through to him, either.” The poor woman looked like she was about to cry.

Yan Shu was no stranger to underhanded politics in the workplace. She had been through similar situations in the past.

Before returning to the country, she had already looked into the information of the hotel employees. Those that mattered, at least.

She knew that Manager Huang had been previously exposed for taking kickbacks from transactions and was duly reprimanded. The man was probably upset that she had taken over his position and sought to sabotage her first day at work.

Yan Shu immediately contacted Director Yee. He was understandably furious, since it was almost nine o’clock and he had yet to see someone from the hotel appear at his house.

Yan Shu reassured him before making inquiries about the taste and restrictions of his guests. Then, she asked the front desk to tap all their chefs who had mastered Hunan cuisine. He told them that if a team wasn’t put together within ten minutes, she would resign on the spot.

Next, she reshuffled the staff and gave instructions to the kitchen. Yan Shu handled everything smoothly and efficiently.

Fifteen minutes later, eight chefs were on their way to Director Yee’s house. Yan Shu herself drove a truck with ingredients and other supplies and tailed the other van.

Along the way, Director Yee called again. Yan Shu picked up her phone, but it instantly slipped from her grasp and fell under the passenger seat.

In a rush of adrenaline, she momentarily forgot the traffic rules and bent over to pick it up.

As a result, she failed to notice the car in front of her and rammed into it. It was a Porsche, of all things, and the damage was bad enough that its bumper had fallen off.

Yan Shu didn’t wait for the owner of the luxury car to come to her. Instead, she took the initiative to knock on the backseat window.

It was already half-down, revealing the chiseled face of its passenger. His piercing, cold gaze sent a shiver down her spine.

He felt familiar for some reason.

Yan Shu quickly dismissed the thought, though. She scribbled a string of numbers on a note and passed it through the window. “I apologize for hitting your car, but I’m in an urgent hurry. You can add me on WeChat, and we can discuss the matter of repair and cost.”

Without waiting for a response, Yan Shu turned on her heel, got back on her truck, and sped away.

The man sitting on the Porsche’s passenger seat could only gape in disbelief.

He had never seen anyone act so self-righteous after damaging someone else’s car. How could that woman just give her number and leave?

Was this a new method to pick people up?

Assistant Zhang glanced at the rearview mirror and saw his boss’ face darken. He immediately ordered the driver to chase after Yan Shu. “Director Fu, I’m calling the company lawyer now.”

“She was wearing a manager’s uniform of the Pearl Hotel. She can’t run away.” Fu Yunjian wasn’t the type to spend his energy on such trifles. He tossed the note to Assistant Zhang. “Ask her to pay three times the maintenance fee.”

“Understood.”

This Porsche was the Little Master’s favorite, after all.

It was already magnanimous of Director Fu to only ask three times the fee.

Fu Yunjian went back to the documents he had been perusing as the car cruised through the traffic. And then he remembered something. “Did he eat breakfast?”

“No,” Assistant Zhang shook his head woefully. “The Little Master finished all the peach cakes you bought, but it didn’t boost his appetite. He only drank some orange juice and didn’t eat another bite.”

Fu Yunjian closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose.

His son had been lively just before he turned two years old. His smile gradually faded then, and he grew extremely picky with his food.

“You still haven’t found that Chef God?”

Assistant Zhang shook his head again. “I asked around the restaurants in Country M, and they all said that Chef God always wore a mask and a cap. She was always careful to cover herself up. No one even knows what she looks like. Her bank accounts are also protected by high-level security programs and cannot be tracked.

“But don’t worry. I heard that the chefs from the Pearl Hotel are very skilled. They’re in charge of Director Yee’s banquet. I’ll pack a few servings later. Surely, the Little Master would like at least one of the dishes from a five-star hotel.”

Assistant Zhang already had this matter in mind when he encouraged his boss to attend Director Yee’s function.

Fu Yunjian seemed pleased with the prospect. “Let’s hope he does.”

He didn’t mind spending a ton of money if it meant the recovery of his son’s appetite.
