C8 The CEO of the Fu Group

Yan Shu was off the next day, so she took Yan Xiaosui with her to look for a good kindergarten.

Her daughter already knew thousands of words despite her young age, and could speak a few foreign languages by the time she turned four. She played the piano very well, too. Some might say that her daughter was a prodigy.

Yan Shu always thought that whoever Yan Xiaosui’s father was, he must have excellent genes.

They settled for one of the most prominent kindergartens in City Y. Their tuition fees were exorbitant, and they mostly catered to rich families.

After evaluating Yan Xiaosui’s intellect and manner, the principal was more than happy to accept the girl into the institution.

“Mommy,” Yan Xiaosui piped when they got home later. She was pouting as she played on her iPad. “I’m so smart that I can even attend primary school. Why should I go to kindergarten?”

“Baby, you’re only five years old. Aren’t you afraid you might get bullied by the older kids in primary school?” Yan Shu was busy in the kitchen. “Be a good girl and go to kindergarten first, okay? If someone asks—”

“If someone asks how old I am, I will say four. I can’t call you Mommy when we’re outside.” Yan Xiaosui had already been briefed about these matters long before they had returned to the country.

“Just remember that I’m doing this to protect you,” Yan Shu reminded her.

Other than the nurse and her friend, no one else knew that she had a daughter.

She had come back to City Y to tie up some loose ends.

In order to prevent any unexpected incidents, she decided it would be best to pretend that Yan Xiaosui was a friend’s child and not hers.

Yan Xiaosui surfed the internet, feeling dejected. Something occurred to her then, and her eyes lit up.

She opened the Playstore and downloaded a dating app. After registering an account, she filled in her mother’s information and picked a few nice photos to put on her profile.

The sly little girl finished setting up a dating profile in no time.

Yan Xiaosui reviewed the data she had entered, snickering to herself.

She was unable to track down the handsome uncle from the airport, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t find another blind date for her Mommy.

She only hoped that a dashing and rich guy would swoop in and protect them for the rest of their lives.

Yan Shu was completely oblivious to her daughter’s scheme. She came to work the following day with renewed vigor.

“Manager Yan,” a receptionist greeted her in the changing room.

“Morning,” Yan Shu smiled.

“I heard that the Fu Group has bought the hotel,” the woman chattered on. “They came here yesterday and signed the contract at the presidential suite.”

“We were acquired?” Yan Shu paused what she was doing. “Isn’t this too sudden?”

“We thought so, too,” the receptionist sighed. “Since the management has changed, the Fu Group will definitely bring their own people and replace some of ours. They say that there will be an inspection later. God knows how many of us will get fired.”

Yan Shu felt an incoming headache. She closed her eyes and rubbed her temples.

She had barely started working here. She didn’t even get to know everyone yet, and now most of them were getting sacked.

She finished changing into her uniform and went out to gather the staff for their morning meeting.

It was then that Yan Shu noticed they had no chef on duty. “Someone, call Chef Soong and ask him why he isn’t here.”

One of the kitchen staff stepped forward to explain. “Manager, you may not know this because you weren’t here last night. The Little Master of the Fu family has anorexia, but he took a liking to Chef Soong’s cooking. Director Fu asked Chef Soong to be their resident chef and prepare the Little Master’s meals from now on.”

The man’s voice was laced with envy as he continued, “Chef Soong was offered a salary of ten million a year, in addition to two million up front.”

Yan Shu had no choice but to call for another chef to take over the kitchen for the day.

She had just finished the call when she received a new message.

“Miss Yan, please see the following details for the maintenance fees of the Porsche you hit the other day. We would appreciate it if you sent the full amount to the indicated account within the day. If you have any questions, you may contact our lawyer.”

The corresponding details were attached to the bottom part of the text.

When Yan Shu saw the numbers, her eyes widened, and she cursed under her breath. “Two million?”

Just because she didn’t lack money didn’t that she would allow herself to be swindled so blatantly.

There was no way she was paying this obscene amount. She immediately requested to speak with the other party’s lawyer.

“Why are you just standing there, Manager Yan?” Director Zhao came out of the elevator in a dapper business suit.

He gestured for Yan Shu to follow him out of the hotel. “Director Fu is coming to make routine inspections today. Accompany me in welcoming him.”

“Of course.” Yan Shu followed close behind the man, her high heels clacking on the tiled floor.

As if on cue, a black Bentley screeched to a halt at the entrance. A tall figure emerged from the backseat.

Director Zhao walked down the front steps and approached the man. “Director Fu,” he greeted respectfully.

Yan Shu, on the other hand, froze in her tracks. She gaped at the man, her face filled with a mix of horror and shock.

This was the man who was trying to extort the ridiculous maintenance fee out of her.

The bastard was actually the CEO of the Fu Group.
